I think if you had chosen a different opera you would have enjoyed it way more. Donizetti is fine of course, but nothing in comparison to Puccini. I saw Tosca years ago in LA and it was probably the best concert of my life. But my husband and I listened to the recording of it over and over for months and when we finally heard it in person it was the most amazing experience ever. We recently heard La Traviata at the Met in New York City and it was unbelievable. The young soprano soloist was Nadine Sierra and her voice was truly amazing. She also is gorgeous and looks like a movie star. The opera stories tend to often be very melodramatic. You don’t go to the opera for the story, although some aren’t too bad. You go for the music, as well as the ambiance. And you have to truly know the music and have it become part of your soul. One comic opera like the one you saw is hardly a good trial of opera for you. Next time try Puccini. The Melody’s are absolutely unbelievable. At the height of the pandemic the Italian government sent planes over northern Italy to play Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma to give people courage at a terrible time. That is the kind of opera you should hear next. You will be totally changed. When my Dad was a young doctor in the Navy he heard Aida in a Roman amphitheater that had so much pageantry they even had elephants in the processional. He has talked about it his whole life, and he is 97 now! That is the kind of opera you should hear at the Paris opera house. The life-changing kind. You have not given opera a fair chance yet.

When I was a small child, my parents took me to see Aida in Cape Town , South Africa. It remains one of the highlights of my life. We listened to the LP of the opera for months before we went to see it. Essential to do lots of listening before attending an opera

Is it just me that missed to which opera? His point is valid, it's their first opera. Especially if it was something like Handel's "Agrippina", then I definitely get him. And with an overextended intermission? Ouch. But I get her wanting more too.... Tony, this extraordinary beauty you have needs more grand evenings, especially opening nights, maybe a gala or two. Women deserve it, especially those that have remained true to us despite any short comings, even it's just kryptonite. Great vlog...sneak some live shots of the event next time.

You did an amazing job of covering my favorite place in Paris and which also my favorite opera house. I appreciate your honesty. I’m still relatively new to opera, I got into it slowly about 10 years ago. But I’m been a long time fan of ballet and classical music, so have visited a fair share of the venues. I’m not familiar with Don Pasquale, but considering it is an opera that’s not frequently performed, I’m not surprised you didn’t enjoy it much. For those who are new to opera, I recommend starting with the blockbusters like Carmen, La Boheme, they are both around 2 hr. Maybe later on venture into Madama Butterfly, Marriage of Figaro, and Don Giovanni.

So glad to see you back. KJ, your dress 👗 is lovely, and you look smashing! Tony, you look healthier and younger with the "new look". Being unfamiliar with opera, you might want to listen to several a few times. Hearing different artists singing the same role gives you a perspective of the type of voice you like and as such, which operas you might really enjoy in person. As you might guess, l am a lover of opera. Going to an opera at the Palace Garnier is a dream of mine! I think it was great you tried something you had never done before. Whether you liked it or not isn't the most important part of it. Trying it is!😊

Glad you loved the building. Isn't it incredible - those stairs! Thanks for giving your guided tour with the cool facts. About opera, it's hard to get if you don't know what they are saying. You can find operas online to watch with subtitles. Or you could study the libretto before you go. I recommend Puccini, which always makes me cry. Try Aida or Tosca, too (Verdi). But definitely, subtitles or study in advance.

🍎 KJ and Tony, Beautiful, gorgeous day! Literally! First, we like people to be honest and honesty comes in everything when you express yourself. For me, I rather tell people there's a snake or a butterfly on my shoulder than not to say anything so I know I'm in danger or not, which brings us to your great fashion video! Any short or high boots, even if the Royal family wears it with a dress, even if it's a Rhinestone cowgirl boots, it does not look classy, chic, feminine, etc. Dresses only look proper and feminine with high heel shoes or any beautiful height of shoes. We love boots especially when we had all kinds when we were living on our five acre farm and had three horses, etc. Of course when we were tending to our horses, we wore our Rhinestone cowgirl boots! Boots for women looks fabulous if they have the beautiful legs and small knees and their legs are in alignment with their body, then boots looks feminine with a mini shirt or shorts or skinny jeans that goes inside the boots as if though you're getting ready to ride the horses! Some women will wear boots even if they don't have the legs for it. They should know if they do or not! We don't have any dresses that have patterns because too many people wear them and so they look common and are not pretty. If you stand beside someone that has all kinds of patterns and you are wearing patterns, then you will clash like a Christmas tree that has too many ornaments on it! Even in a fashion show, the girls that wear a beautiful color that's satin or lace, will stand out like a queen or princess as you see the style of the beautiful dress without a lot of patterns. For people like you that love dresses that have patterns, then jewelry with the exception of only a pearl earrings, is necessary, because there's too many colors and patterns on the dress. I remember when I visited Denmark, my choice of clothing to travel on the airplane, was a plain velvet shirt to my knees with a high slit on the sides and matching long sleeves blouse and a three inch open toe high heel shoes, not knowing I would of gotten so many stares especially from the pilots and stewardesses! I had to check myself and I didn't see anything out of place! Because of the smile that I saw on their faces, I figured it was all about the simplicity of the outfit. Of course for me, I always admired the way they are dressed. Their attire is always plain, simple and elegant. So Cheers to the handsome pilots and gorgeous, elegant stewardesses. Bye for now as we have to email another KZreadr! Au Revoir!🌴🇺🇲 🇫🇷

Wow! I read your posting and as someone who has lived in France for almost 50 years I have no idea what you are talking about. So many rules you have established in your posting as per dress you sound like an advert for TMZ. If you don't live in France and speak the language it is better to refrain. People will wear what they feel most comfortable in and it is not a beauty contest here to be admired and eventually become the mistresse of some minister. You speak as if you are talking about the high society and by that I mean worth millions or politicians. KJ and Toni will never be the high society in France if and when they get there permanently. So please take the foot off the gas pedal. As an American that has been around and yes......dozens I know what I am talking about!

KJ and Tony. Have watched various of your videos on your move to France and the helpful information you provide. My husband and I are in the process of doing the same ... to Nice. We have already made an offer on a property in Nice, which was accepted, and have engaged Adrian Leeds (per your suggestion in one of your videos) for assistance with the purchase. The notaire is currently reviewing the documentation, so the deal has yet to be finalized. We are now working on preparing our visas (I know, a little backwards), but, we are not quite sure which address to use on our applications ... the address of the property under review by the notaire or Adrian's rental address. Like another of your subscribers, my husband and I are also confused by the "status of the person traveling with you" on the application. They provide for only 3 choices: stateless and 2 types of refugee status. None of those 3 describe either or our "status." If you have any insight on these 2 issues, it would be greatly appreciated. I have not yet seen a video where you reveal exactly where you plan to live, but I wish you all the best on your new chapter in life!

Beautiful coverage of this beautiful place! I’d love that aspect too. But I’m like Tony. One actual live opera is enough 😂 It doesn’t mean I don’t love and appreciate art of all kinds, but I get antsy and anxious when, for some reason, I feel great obligation to the live performers. Altho back in the day I saw all the broadway shows including Phantom (love the history btw). But I can’t even watch live comedy anymore! Is what it is 🤷‍♀️💃 Thank you!

Who knew an intermission could cause such a kerfuffle! The length is probably more for the performers than for the audience….especially for those singing. They must keep hydrated in order to sing at the highest level and the orchestra needs a bit of time to catch their breath to continue to play at a level worthy of the audience and that the composer intended.

3 hours is not long for an opera! Wait till they see Götterdämmerung or Parsifal 😂😂😂😂

Good for you for giving opera a try! It's not for everybody, and not everybody likes every opera. I love most, but I detest Wagner operas -- all those singers going about in horned helmets and the loud, ponderous music -- no thank you! Maybe try Bizet's Carmen if you ever go again. Not a particularly happy story, but the music has been used a lot for other things so you probably are already familiar with it. And it's in French! Good info on Garnier -- we haven't been there yet because the scheduling has never worked out for operas we want to see. Maybe next time we are in Paris.

Some say opera is an acquired taste, others say it was the pop music of its time. It is definitely easier to acquire the taste if you start with Puccini or Mozart and do as suggested in a prior comment, listen to a good recording over and over. KJ, you looked very elegant in your choice of dress. Tony’s new look gives him a polished sophistication. Bravo to you both!

I imagine the notorious ignorance of Americans faced with the duration of a show other than the wonderful adventures of the Kardashian family....

lol... ignorance can be bliss... we have never seen any of the Kardashian's adventures. I (KJ) am also ignorant to the fact that Americans are considered to be "notoriously ignorant." I imagine I am now enlightened 🤲 Thank you!

@@kjandtonylovefrance Sorry if I offended you, my remark was not intended for you, on the contrary, you are one of those rare Americans who had the sense to look elsewhere, to form their own opinion, and to like, or not, what you discovered. Alas, the majority of your compatriots are ignorant because everything is done to keep them that way and work like crazy without any personal gain but to enrich a caste of billionaires and crooked politicians well helped by your religious people. We experienced this in France under the old regime, we saw how it ended, a bloodbath when the little ones whistled the end of recess for these powerful people and put them to the guillotine. The ignorant person does not complain, he is satisfied with the crumbs that the powerful throw at him.
