I came to this video hoping to receive a clear definition as to what, exactly, are the difference(s) between operas and musicals. I watched the whole video, and I now still have no more clarify about that question than I did before I started it.

it’s pretty much based off of vibes lol, there’s no clear line like there’s no clear line for music genres in general, there’s gunna be overlap between folk and country, rock and metal, house and techno, etc etc At least here we’re only dealing with two categories so there aren’t endless combinations lol Some things are obviously musical theater, some are obviously opera, some are in the middle. There’s basically nothing that is fully black and white in this world unfortunately

I'm sorry but I still can get a picture of how different opera and musical..how perspective people about both this.

Honestly, it's very subjective - it often comes down to being decided by the composer. And there's nothing wrong with that!

Are we suppose to learn music theory if you only want to sing opera?

I also feel the biggest difference is the audiences. Opera tends to take on tragedy and stay there whereas musical theater tends to touch tragedy and get out.

It really depends on the opera - there are entire subgenres that are based in humor (Opera Buffa and Light Opera).
