    I consider myself so blessed to have live during a time when a member of the Disney family like Roy Disney was still involved with the company that his Uncle Walt has created many years ago. I still cherish my memories with Disney when I was a kid especially with this VHS opening.

    Seems like perfect timing I decided to revisit this VHS intro, because it's no wonder they decided it was best to wait until the Masterpiece Collection entered the scene when the inaugural entry of the company's overall animated features would finally receive its very first physical release, hence the reason for the intro that was provided by Walt's own nephew that I obviously remember. Man...it's no wonder it wasn't until I was six when I finally got to see it in its entirety in the comfort of my own home!

    What baffles me to this day is why did it take Disney so long to finally release this movie on VHS? I mean, it came back to theaters in 1987 and again in 1993, but STILL wasn't released on VHS until late 1994. I remember watching the musical number "Heigh Ho!" (from the original 1937 movie) on one of the Disney Sing Along Songs videos (when I was 4) and wanting to see the actual movie so badly, but to my dismay, it was NOT available on ANY video format (including laserdisc). As a result, I had to wait FIVE years until it finally was available on VHS for the first time. Considering how high in demand the film was for many, many years, you'd think that Disney would have given us an earlier video format release in the 1980's. Ah well.

  • @superjackster0165

    @superjackster0165

    Disney originally wasn't going to release on home video ever because they thought the film was too special and important to be released on home video and that it should only be shown in theaters. By 1994 Disney realized that the wait was over and that the time came to release it on home video. So that's exactly what they did on October 28, 1994.

    Technically, Snow White wasn't the first full-length animated feature in movie history. There are two lost movies made in Argentina in the 1910s by Quirino Cristiani, and one surviving movie made in 1926 by Lotte Reiniger, a German film called The Adventures of Prince Achmed, which is in stop motion, and uses silhouetted paper cutouts. Snow White, however, was the first animated feature film to be made entirely using hand-drawn cel animation, have full color, and be made in the United States.

    Here’s a story. Disney originally wasn’t going to release Snow White on Home Video at all. They deemed the movie too special for home video and they wanted to theatrically re release it instead. They also had this same attitude towards Fantasia. They deemed both of those films too special for home video. They eventually released Fantasia on home video in November 1991. But as far as early 1994, Disney was still saying that Snow White would absolutely NOT come to home video. But they surprised us and eventually released the film on home video on October 28, 1994

    We owe a lot for Walt Disney himself. We went out his way to achieve the impossible. Steamboat Willie, this movie, merchandising, Disneyland and Disney World Resort. In the last year of his life, he kept working on EPCOT, even in the hospital. He died before he could see that work, but he did it for everyone instead of himself. And also, his brother Roy, father of Roy E. Disney right here, finished building Walt Disney World and lived to see it until the end of his life too.

    Magic, excitement, wonders, imagination, romance, music, action, fantasy, thrills, and adventures. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), I love that classic movie, based on the Brothers Grimm's fairy tale "Snow White." Brings back memories. I used to owe it on video when I was a little kid, that was a long time ago until I got it Blu-Ray. Walt Disney is still my hero, even after his death in 1966. The evil queen, Snow White, Prince Charming, the huntsman, the animals, and the seven dwarves (Doc, Happy, Sneezy, Dopey, Grumpy, Bashful, and Sleepy). Snow White, the first Disney princess with lips red as the rose, hair black as ebony and skin white as snow. The fairest in the land. Only 14 years old. Fairly young and beautiful, without a doubt. I'm happy to see the face of Roy Disney. I never give up believing in fairies and magic with all my heart because I still refuse to grow up, and forget about the precious things I knew, especially those from my childhood. I am like Peter Pan and have his youthful spirit. My one and only wish is to keep the magic alive for all time. And I also wish to be a fairy to stay strong, childlike, young, and beautiful forever and ever like Tinker Bell, and the other fair folks. Roy, your dear uncle would be proud of you. Believe in fairies and magic and never grow up. Think happy thoughts to make you fly. All it takes is faith, trust and pixie dust. A little bit of pixie dust 🍎👑🏰🎼🎵🎶🧚🧚‍♂🧚‍♀

    This was the film that introduced me to Disney and fittingly since I was born in ''93 I was getting Disney VHS's regularly from Snow White to The Lion King and eventually the rest of the Disney Renaissance I had been a Disney kid growing up. Now I can enjoy these on Blu-Ray and never have to pay for Disney+ or watch the awful Wish movie. Plus modern Disney sucks with the exception of that Once Upon A Studio short.

    I had this VHS when I was a kid. But now that I have moved on 2 Disney DVDS, I have no use for VHSES anymore. However, I heard old VHSES of any motion picture feature could be useful for making Money 💵 💰. I hope I’ll get a nice price for this VHS of Disney’s 1st Animated Feature Snow White & The 7 Dwarfs. Then some of the VHSES of the other Disney Features will follow. Including 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers & Universal too.

    Be forewarned, the following is not related to the above video. I am currently enlisted as a member of the community on a website dedicated to Howard Ashman (www.howardashman.com/), and a frequent contributor to a discussion post called "Feed Me" (after the song in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS). I highly recommend that you take a look around. At any rate, I have read others' posts about the chances of a bioplay, a written biography, or (in my case) a biographical movie about Howard Ashman, the latter idea being sparked by my reading a discussion board about it at the Internet Movie Database (link: www.imdb.com/name/nm0039141/board/nest/15372358?ref_=nm_bd_6#sthash.Ay1z9YLF.dpuf). Well, a couple of days ago, I was thinking about SAVING MR. BANKS, a docu-drama about the making of MARY POPPINS (more specifically, P.L. Travers' fortnight-long briefing in 1961 Los Angeles as she is persuaded by Walt Disney in his attempts to obtain the screen rights), when I got an idea: What about a docu-drama about the making of LITTLE MERMAID, with a special focus on Howard's involvement in creating the film that holds such a significant place in the history of Disney feature animation?
