Opening the Duchess of Hamilton NRM Edition
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
One of the most famous locomotives in the World. And now fully restored to her streamlined days, and on display at the National Railway Museum in York, England! This faithful reproduction of her by Hornby is quite beauitful and runs like a dream. Enjoy

Am I the only person who just LOVES the noise of the polystyrene when it hits the floor making that thonk?!
Those station masters are well known to be touchy. Glance in their direction and they go nuts, teleporting, and kicking your shins...
Limited editions are always fantastic thanks for another great upload
She was for a long time yes. Along with most other Princess Coronation class locos the streamlining was removed later in service. She also operated for a long time in preservation in non-streamlined form, and has only recently been restored to her original appearance at the NRM.
Thanks for the info! I shall definitely look into them
Loving the new video out burst !!! Very good video and loco THanks - JacobH :) :)
Thanks for the information!
Another great video Will :)
Another Fantastic Video Will :)
Great review vid as always Will. Its quite a good coincidence that on that vid I did with the 2 red & blue A4's + the A3....I now see people asking you to see the 2 A4's running together so.....go for it buddy! Cheers, John.
Such a lovely loco
Duchess of Hamilton is currently in the workshop at the NRM in York, but is due to soon move to the NRM's outpost called Locomotion at Shildon. She will make this move by rail which would be nice to see :)
LOVE IT. LOVE.
I'm literally watching in 2017 but just realised this was uploaded on my birthday. A weird coincidence that this is one of my favourite locos.
Nice engine!
Great video will.
It's quite a sight to see at the NRM
Perfect LMS West Coast Mainline high speed steam train there Will! I can remember us seeing Duchess of Hamilton at Railfest :) another one liked & faved!
She was supposed to go on Thursday 15th November, but this has been postponed. The NRM is hoping to arrange it for next week. She will be towed by 55002 a Deltic class named "Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Hope this helps :)
Great loco, I have actually been in her cab!
What a Beauty
I always like the Coronation class. Especially the ones in the maroon livery. Beautiful locomotives.:)
how many of these fantastic mini series videos are there to come
I have had my class a4 for 3 years (mallard in blue) by hornby and never had a problem :)
Hmmm interesting idea! I shall give it some thought.
Similar name-change on the Royal Scot that visited the U.S. and Canada in 1933. It was actually number 6125, but it was renumbered 6100 and received a commemorative bell.
yes you need to keep and eye on him!
Yes she did, cant remember why i just remember they had to fit a huge lamp on her for use.
I have the anniversary edition Coronation Scot set and it has the lines all running along the 6 coaches.
The Cunarder is next I think. A magnificent loco
thanks for the comment!
I'd be tempted to give the body a coat of varnish. That would look good.
Lucky! Closest I got was when I touch Asbestos on it! We rushed to the loo, and wasted an hour making sure I hadn't been poisened
emily has some good detail inside the cab and its coloured
Haha thanks matey! She was smart wasn't she, just like the City of Truro
Can you please do a review of the hornby tornado?! That would be so awesome!!
the reason it is not shiny is because the nrm clean and varnish their locos to buggary. 99% of their locos are cosmetically pristine but mechanically shagged so they sit there so nothing can remove their pristine finish. i work at the tanfield railway and spend hours each morning cleaning the loco and by trip two it looks like i didnt touch it. if she went on the mainline for a day, she wouldnt come back like she is now. only the minority want her shiny so hornby didnt do it.
you need to keep an eye on that creeper, trust me!
another awesome video if only you had the LMS Black Duchess like the one i have City of Edinburgh
IT was a gift but I think you can find them on the Net, print them off and build them.
Perhaps a gloss appearance could be achieved with a light coating of gloss clear coat. It does seem a bit scary to do with an expensive locomotive like this, it is wonderful as is!
Yes
Can we see her with princess alice running side by side when the inside loop is re-built again, please
Great video well done. I think you should sort the creeper out because it is messing with your level crossing.
Model manufacturers and modelers alike tend not to produce glossy finishes as it just doesnt look scale like. The best way to achieve something like a scale polished finish is to T-cut the factory applied finish taking great care not to polish through the paint or remove any printed detail.
i love thats sound at 20.13
She's just as magnificent ;)
Thanks for the comment!
Nice! I realy like the English trains but they are hard to find in the Netherlands. But since a few months I got a few loc's. Bought them on Ebay. The are beautyfull!!! I have a A4 Woodcock, a Princess Victoria and the County of Chester. The all look great and are different than all the other stuff from Fleischmann and Roco.
you're spot on! Yup, they're 95s. VERY old now lol
Hmmmm now that is nice. But I can't end up trying to own them all - I'll never have any money lol
I would recommend one yes. Either ViTrains or Bachmann.
Oh oh. Call the wreck crew. One of the "train"ers looks like it derailed! ;)
Was there ever another model of those streamlined lms' also could you did nah the inside loop and have the duchess of Hamilton and princess Alice run side by side that would defiantly look amazing
they sent corronationover and duchess of hamilton was named corronation for an exhibition in britain
I'm not aware of a west coast class. But there is a Battle of Britain class (look it up on Wikipedia).
Great review! Do you have the Duchess Of Sutherland 6233?
Yeah it would work. i have the hornby golden arrow on my track in the USA and it works just fine.
Nice review and brilliant loco. Though I do slightly prefer the A4s, there's no denying that these locos had some brilliant streamlining. Shame that the real one isn't in running condition. Imagine her doing a railtour with that streamlining.
I'm not one to usually make a video request but would you ever make a video to see which is stronger out of your A4 or one of your Princess Coronations?
That's coming up soon.
You should get one of the 6-axle dining cars to go with this train. Hornby R4095E in current catalogue :)
haha will do!
Now that would be interesting! I'll see what I can do. (In real life, it was the Princess Coronations by quite a lot)
nice loco! please do the central train 153!
Watch out for a video being uploaded this Summer!
have you ever thought of reviewing the Hornby R2830 BR Early Class T9 Greyhound, i have one and i reckon it is absolutely delightful :)
Hi Will great video! Could you please do a double head special of the Duchess of Hamilton and Princess Alice?
Hi Will great loco & review, nice channel very informative with some good reviews thanks for sharing cheers Tony.ps do you want to sell the famous skirting board lol
She recently regained the streamlining.
Dapol do those Stanier coaches too. For a lot less & have decent detail on them. Save more money by getting the £8 kit ones which literally clip together. I've got a suburban non-corridor one & it's really nice. Considering they cost less than the Hornby ones & have decent detail on them
Hello Will, would you ever get the Hornby Princess Coronation Class steam locomotive 4-6-2 "City Of Edinburgh" in BR blue?
hey will when uu got time can u do a review for a london 2012 plzz no rush :D
At the time, i think so i may be wrong, i think she was painted red when she was moved to the NRM
yes they were strong!
So the locomotives are secretly monsters with black holes for mouths?
Haha yes! Except packages would end up all over the place and if any of the passengers looked one in the eyes they'd be in deep sh*t.
haha maybe sometime!
Is it possible for you to review the "Hornby British Pullman Venice Simplon-Orient-Express"
I'm just watching this and guess what pops up in my recommended slot? The Princess Coronation 6229!
haha yeah me too!
I'm sure that can be arranged!
Would you reccomend this because i am hoping to get it for christmas?
which one do you like more the duchess of Hamilton or Princess Alice IC82
I might do something like that in the future, yes.
Hmmm, something to think about.
You should run Princess Alice and the Duchess of Hamilton side by side in a video
No difference - BOTH are gorgeous!
are the 2 red and blue locos on the right at 12:55 the non streamline versions of duchess of Hamilton and princess alice?
CREEEPAAA!
Do all the Hornby coaches have metal wheels, or do they use plastic ones on the cheaper ones? And, are the flanges like our NMRA standards in the USA. And finally, what code rail do you use? I'm not familiar with Hornby trains or Hornby track.
I'm sure I will get round to the T9s one day! lol there are a LOT of trains available to buy. To buy them all you need about £500,000 lol
Would a double header between Princess Alice and Duchess of Hamilton, be possible? (just out curiosity)
Will i like that creeper! :D seems to be popping up in every video :D
No problem
should do double header with the red and blue (cant remember names) with a passenger train on it
Reject superstition - she is a beautiful and finely engineered locomotive!
I reckon an Enderman would make a great station porter!
I was just wondering do you have the dutchess of Gloucester?
I'm sure that can be arranged.
