This was actually strangely heart warming. To see an unadulterated reaction to the new stuff without being dampered by the general hype of the media. Really makes ME feel like a kid seeing the old leaks from Japan during like Generations 4 and 5.

@@kronosis2767 If you’re someone who sugarcoats or jumps on hate bandwagons, you just are. It has nothing to do with whether or not you’ve seen what the media has to offer about something. Max is just not one of those people.

Its so nice seeing max be excited about cards rather then feeling obligated, and I cannot explain how happy I was to hear "MAXMOEFOES POSTCARD COLLECTION" I love the postcards

When max comes back after his annual hiatus, it always feels like a mini Christmas. And two in less than 24 hours? Thank you mister man child, we've missed you.

I am just now realizing how much I missed him opening cards. Hearing "Max Moefoe's Post Card Collection" feels so nostalgic

I like how Max processes the mons he doesn't understand as variants. You really could pass smoliv off as another budew or varoom as beldum and it shows we really don't need new creatures. I'd love to see a whole dex of just variants.

Two openings back-to-back tells me that Max has already fallen back into his debilitating shiny cardboard addiction, which is great news

Things to Know(left intentionally vague): Due to plot points in the game, Scarlet has connections and pokemon from the distant past while violet has connections and pokemon from the distant future. The Gyrados looked crystal because of the regional gimmick of terrastalization which allows a pokemon to turn its type into its terra type, which is kinda like a pokemons hidden power type but you can see it. The diglet and tentacool variants are technically not variants but convergent evolution where they just happen to look similar despite not being related. The olive line is not related to Budew line. The dog with a candle on its head is not connected to litwick. You both do and don't get the legendaries at the start of the game as they function as your mount at the start but can't fight until late game due to plot. No new eevee. That is indeed this regions pikachu. The man you got a full art of is the professor in violet, while the cave mam looking woman is the professor in scarlet. The crab is not related to krabby and is not a robot, theyre just a rocky guy. The thing you thought was a gun or a toolbox is a engine and yes they do use them in some cars. The big fish is a new pokemon and not a variant and they're like a sushi chef, while the little guy that was in his mouth is like a sushi and it refrence a unique ability interaction they have where if you have them both on the field in a double battle together, the big fish will eat the sushi guy and get a stat boost and the sushi guy will attack from inside the big fish.

Wooo another video. Your reactions are the best part of the videos. So many people focus only on the expensive cards, or have no vibrancy when opening the cards. Just love how alive you sound when opening cards, compared to others who open it like it's another day at their office day job

Some things to note about new Pokémon: The whale and the fish are seperate Pokémon that work together. The small one is like sushi and the big one is a sushi chef. Also relates to the "weak but smart, strong but stupid" trope. The gyarados follows the new terrastilization, this generations gimmick. The pokemon can be any type, the gyarados happens to be water. It also makes them crystal like The dugtrio and tentacruel are actually not related to them at all. Wugtrio and toescruel are made to show things evolve similarly but for different reasons, like orcas and whales being similar but having no relation The olive pokemon has no relation to any other Pokémon, and can evolve again Primape's evolution is ghost fighting, lore is it gets so angry it dies The legendaries are both paradox pokemon, just like the donphan. Donphan has both a future and past, and the violet one's eyes look like that because it's future. All future Pokémon are robotic and have those eyes, kinda sad ngl. Lots of dogs this gen bc of the region its based on being well known for having loads of stray dogs The weird gun thing is an engine Pokémon. Names are varoom and revaroom, very strange but funny Pokémon Anyone else want to say anything, you should comment under this. Happy you're back too max but seems like most of the comments are talking about that and i figured id make something to kinda gloss over the majority of things that you questioned

Orcas are very closely related to whales. And recent genomic discoveries probably even put them closer to whales than to dolphins.

@@THGMR-ox7sd i just wish not all were robots. Some look really good as robots, but there's other things the future can do to Pokémon. Most got butchered by it. I love iron moth and valiant , but some like leaves and jugulis got butchered

I actually loved you going in blind, it feels refreshing and you were actually close on most of your guesses

This was way more fun than the average Pokémon card packs opening video, hearing Max's reaction to all the new Pokémon was amazing, specially because it felt 100% genuine.

it's so refreshing to see someone who is learning the new pokémon after so much time past the release of the game, would love to see your playthrough of the new games

Hope he goes into it with an open mind. Seen so many creators go into it clearly with the intention of hate playing it and just endlessly harping on the bugs and visual quality without giving and props to how the game feels to play or the mechanics. Genuinely the most fun I've had with a pokemon game despite all the rough edges with it since Black and White

@@toooydoeur B/W defo still the GOAT, but I just never really got into S/M as much personally. I also acknowledge that the bugs and visual stuff are bad and should be to a higher standard, but personally, I can over look that. Honestly for me, even with the minimal amount they did with it, the open world of S/V helps it avoid the slog of traveling between the cities that tended to start to burn me out in previous games.

My boy dunsparce FINALLY got an evo! Been waiting since Gen 2! As a kid I kept training and training my dunsparce waiting for him to evolve not realizing it couldn’t happen. Now it can!

Tauros is my favorite Pokémon and has been for a long time. The little guy got 3 new forms this game and it made me so happy!! Carried one with me through the whole game :)

So happy to see regular uploads again max! I'll help with some of the info in regards to the Scarlet and Violet Sets! First off you were right, the AR cards are called 'Art Rares' and you're guaranteed 3 in each Japanese booster box. They're very similar to the old CHRs except no trainers in the artwork as you can see. Along with them are CSRs or 'Special Art Rares' (equivalent to the old CSRs). SARs are pretty much the new alt arts since the HR category only consists of the Gold cards now that they axed rainbows. But get this, SARs can be of either pokemon or trainer cards! So yea pretty much we have trainer alt arts now! You might have noticed some of the crazy prices for some of the new sets (particularly Violet ex and the new Triple Beat that just came out) and this is why. The prices are due one particular MEGA expensive SAR trainer waifu card in each of those sets. We're talking like them selling for like $800. Buckle up though because it looks like this might become a regular thing with the new sets. Hope this helps!

That Crystal Gyarados is related to Scarlet's and Violet's battle gimmick: Terastalization. That Gyarados has been terastalized, giving it the whole crystally look

The Gyarados is “Terrastylized”. In the new games you can make any Pokémon Crystal-ish and it either changes their type or makes their current type more powerful, but yeah it makes them all shiny and Crystal with swag hats

Primapes newest evolution is definitely something I wanted to see and it being a ghost fighting is really fun.

I am not too familiar with the new cards max but the psychic types on some like bread dog, are fairy types in the game. They got rid of fairy type printing in the tcg so fairy types became psychics.

Kinggammit (bisharp's evolution) has the weirdest way for it to evolve, but once it does it has an absolutely mad ability that boosts its stats with each fainted party member. There's also a new phenomenon called "paradox" pokemon. With as little spoilers as possible: Violet has pokemon from the future, Scarlet has them from the past. You don't encounter them until end game

Please keep it up max. Your videos bring joy back into the hobby.
