The cabinet cards are beautiful. I remember reading somewhere that they didn't smile in pictures because it wasn't their natural look. I'm glad you like the butterflies. 🙂♥️

Wonderful gifts. Today with the wind though the weather hasn't warmed up, I guess we got just enough sunshine and with the excess of sunshine our grass is greening and some of the leaves are coming out. The weather is going down to 2c/35.6f tonight. The same as yesterday here in central Alberta, Canada.

I was concerned when the video stopped and I thought gee I hope that all is good. But I'm glad that it is. Take care and God bless.
Smiling did not work back then. The pictures of my grandfather as a child growing up, not a single child, smiled. To some a smile was a sign of "being self absorbed" and others the person behind the camera took a major amount of time to even get one picture and for most pictures were a vanity back then and not a necessity
The faces in the old pictures look that way because they used the old fashioned camera with the push bulb for the flash and it took a lot longer than the cameras and phones today. I have old family pictures and that was what I was told why they were never smiling.
Miss e…having your picture taken was very serious so they did not smile…
