Opening Morning Duck Shooting 2021

Same pond, Same shooters different year and it was the best numbers we have seen yet.
Matt, Ryan and Myself shooting our three man limit of 30 Mallards. Our shooting still needs some work but the birds did their bit to help us out.
Hope you enjoy the video and also had some luck even with the calm sunny weather over the weekend.
We also shot 12 parries on Saturday evening and our mallard limit again on Sunday,, but I was shooting birds not pictures so Saturday mornings efforts is all I have to share.

Sweet! You guys had a good shoot 👍Alot of dry ponds up here in Central Hawkes Bay. Numbers were differently lower then normal this opening weekend. But yeeea, we still got some!! 🤙

Nice mate 👌we hit limit in southland Saturday and Sunday we are aloud 20 down here and the kids got 12 on Sunday night with the 410 total for us was 132 for the weekend but as people are saying we were lucky to have water but plenty of birds around cheers for the vid 👍

Nice work, Good to see somewhere in the country shot ok - Hauraki Plains was a shocker (most shot 1/2 to 1/3 of their normal shoot) - still a lack of water after last years drought & heard southland was fairly average this year.

Got my limit Saturday n Sunday morning ....only fired 180 rounds to do it...rangers came early and scared heaps of birds but oh well they part of it. they always watch first .got complement on shooting👍👍👍👍😁
Nice vid! But isnt the birds breading in this time a year? In denmark they are breading in the moment

Southern Hemisphere is almost the exact opposite season to northern hemisphere. You’re summer is our winter 👍🏻

@@Muzz308 Good thanks mate, certainly a slower year here in Hawkes Bay. Managed 21 birds between 3 guys for the morning shoot.
We share videos with the same themes, I am also a hunting enthusiast, so it is fun to watch your videos, come across 👍🙂

Is the hunting pressure pretty low in NZ? Them birds didn’t seem shy at all!

We only hunt ducks for a very short season, so they get left alone most of the time.
We went out to Kaipara Harbour got nothing! 3 guys $6000-$8000 worth of guns another $1000 decoys callers etc, only saw 2 ducks that were so far away I would have been lucky to hit with a 7mm mag if they were sitting still

Arghhh bugger mate, a lot more challenging hunting big water like that. Hopefully you can find some birds during the rest of the season.
What is 1 person's limit there. Were only allowed 4 mallards per day and only 2 can be hens

Where are you Jono ? thats a real low limit. we are allowed 10 mallards per person.

Oh yup, is that including all of the species or just Mallards? NZ has 12 different regions that each set different limits. our main speices are Mallards, Paradise duck, Grey duck and spoon bill along with a bunch of other stuff like swans, gease and swamp birds (Pukeko).

@@Muzz308 mallards limit 4. Woodduck is 3 teal and spoonies and gadwall are 6. But total a day you can only kill 6 birds total

Yeah bro, I could have a crack at that. I find wild duck a pretty hard one and I actually gave most of mine this year to a bloke that cooks them into curry dishes. My only easy full proof recipe is breast cut into 2cm bites and coated in flour, egg and coat and cook mix then fried up. Duck nuggets.
