Today in History in 1969 the R42s entered passenger service. These cars are now retired and are used for refuse service. However today I thought we should take a trip down memory lane and see just how much they've changed from when they first entered service to when they retired. These cars began service with a giant boxy rollsign and tons of graffiti covering the exterior and interior of the train. However when they got overhauled they Really got there nicer modern look that most SMEE subway cars still have today.
