When you're done tuning, head over to Tonic to practice and level up your playing: tonicmusic.app/practice-now 🎵
Yeah, that's right. I made a video where all I do is play open strings. Perfectly in tune.

Thank you thank you thank you !!!! I've been struggling these past months and since I have classes once a week, I couldn't have my teacher to correct my intonation of open strings. Now I can listen to this wherever and whenever I need it. Seriously, thank you.

Many German and Austrian orchestra even tune A = 443hz. As a harpist, I tune 1 or 2 hz higher than the oboe, because in a concert, the harp tends to drop pitch while especially the woodwinds tend to rise.

Hey Ray, thank you so much for all the videos! I really love them!! By the way, what temperament should we use for practice? I wonder for solos, do you use Pythagorean, Just/Pure, Pythagorean Just or Perfect 5th? Thanks again!

A440 and A441 sound indistinguishable for me, lol. A442 sounds vastly different though.

do you have perfect pitch? it could just be you're used to hearing A in 441 and your perfect pitch has learnt A as that frequency.

Hi Ray, what is the difference, other than pitch, between the different As? Is there a particular reason to tune to a specific pitch compared to the others? Thanks!

Time of composition you play. In different times were different As. You might wanna tune your instrument up to composer’s time to have it as close as possible to the intended sound.

Is that the same instrument for everything except 415? This pianist has heard talk about the differences between 440 and 441/442, but 441 and 442 seemed to sound quite different from 440.
