This animation depicts a open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) of a trimalleolar fracture. The surgical steps include the following; lateral incision, dissection & exposure of comminuted fracture site, reduction of fibular fracture with interfragmentary or lag screw, fixation with plate & screws, anterior stab incision, reduction of posterior malleolar fragment with guidewires, fixation with two cannulated screws, reduction of medial malleolus with guidewire and fixation with cannulated screw and ending with postoperative x-ray films.
