Bazooka tooth and Float were the first albums I heard from Aesop. I remember thinking "holy shit, this guy gets it. "; prior to hearing Ace I felt pretty isolated as a writer, having very little to relate to aside from maybe the Beat writers like Kerouac and Burroughs.... But only because I share their philosophy when it comes to writing.. Not stylistically similar though. Ian Matthias Bavits (Aesop) sounds ridiculously similar to the style I developed in highschool, years before I listened to rap at all, let alone even heard of the Def Jux dudes like Aesop.. Which is crazy mostly because my style is idiosyncratic to a fault... Too similar.. Especially since neither of us are influenced by the other (obviously).. Yup....

I’ve looked up quite a bit about Aesop and that’s sorta my hobby for rap is getting into peoples heads about where they’ve been and what influences at what point ect… Aesop is the producer for most of is projects he has a lot of who play instruments who he sources sounds from but for the most part he is the main producer. A project like Impossible Kid listed about 3-4 executive producers as well so he has a lot of help. But Blockhead didnt a lotttt of the work for Float.

I fucking LOVE bazooka tooth like seriously when I'm playing Aesop songs I find myself playing a lot of tracks from bazooka from my playlist more than some other albums. I fucking love the tracks Superfluke, Freeze, Babies with guns, the greatest pacman victory. I love the kinda dirty raw I guess you would call it sound that the album has.. its almost like a lofi sound.

It's hard to find an interview with aesop rock. Thanks for this
This is my favorite interview.... Love aes so much.....
Great interview :) I love how you gave him time to really figure out how to put his thoughts into words. I liked how organic this felt, and was great to hear the mind of such a wonderful artist. Thanks
what a great interview. Loved it. Love Aes.

Great interview, looking forward to another album soon.
Great interview. He is a very inspiring person.
i've never listened to an interview 3 times, until this one. dude is so inexplicably inspiring, but it's not like he's probably saying something that most artists don't say anyway. he's a simplistic cat, but he's one of the most complex dudes in the game, or anything else artistic.

@CaptSamLavender
3 жыл бұрын
From what I’ve gathered, it’s about how one handle Camu’s death vs how the other did, I think El-P wanted to release a tribute album and do shows off it and Aes just kinda wanted to mourn his friend. I could be wrong.
