Some armies still use hardware from World War II

A little known fact to a lot of people, Soviet troops were allowed in West Berlin (as allied Troops were allowed in East Berlin), but they had to be unarmed and wear dress uniforms only.

Brings back memories, I was stationed there from 1989 to 1991.....B Co 6-502

It was my home! CSC 6/502, 1988-90.

It's sad to see friendly relations between Russian (then Soviet) soldiers and US troops, compared to now. What might of been, if only a meglamaniac dwarf in the Kremlin hadn't of taken power in 2000 😟

I was also in HHC 5/502...... I was a cook there. I served from 91-93

One question: Did any American's visit Soviet bases in Germany or Russia during this time?

I was there at the event. My parents lived about 500 m away from Andrews Barracks.

Jesus H Christ! Glad I left when I did Dec 90! I thought parade block was bad enough but it seems that BB turned into a bunch of show ponies after I left!!!

Yep. I left Nov 21, 1990. After the wall fell, not much need for the BB.

Great video, but I was a little disappointed as I was in the band and all I saw of them was us setting up to play as the Honor Guard was performing. Do you have the band playing?

Andrej Stroganov was there a presence of dedovschina (severe hazing) in the 6th Guards Motor rifle brigade and other soviet forces in Berlin? Or were the standards kept higher in your unit sir?

Очень интеллигентные и воспитанные люди. Совершенно не рассматривал их как своих врагов…. Скорее наоборот. Это конечно же не была встреча на Эльбе 2, но это было, что то близкое. Любопытство с обеих сторон просто зашкаливало…
