I love ronnie Barker his humour is like nothing I've ever seen before I love the silly expressions on his face when he is clowning around! Nobody could ever replace him in a million lifetimes! The 70s 80s was the best time for British comedy I think!!!

I remember the corner shops that sold nearly every thing, many years ago where we lived in the Rhondda Valley, as I am now approaching my 79th Birthday there was candy's the corner shop and on the other side of the road there wa peglar stores on the corner and further down the road there was Audrey's. shop on the corner. Sweet memories they are from way back.

I love Open All Hours. It’s in my top five sitcoms of all time. Just such great chemistry between the actors and actresses. Ronnie Barker is just fabulous. Sadly I can’t say the same for “Still Open All Hours” as it just isn’t funny to me. It was cool to see the weather forecast at the beginning too 👍

the cast of the original series was outstanding Ronnie Barker was an outstanding comedic actor with perfect timing, intelligence, and expression and as such should be held in high esteem as one of our national treasure. David Jason as Granville his perfect foil. the chemistry and friendship and affection on and off-screen was and they had a deep appreciation of each other's skills and talents Jason often referred to barker as the guvnor. the supporting cast was brilliant and the characters so well developed. there is nothing like this on tv now that can match. the remake has an essence of the original but i don't think it quite worked for me personally many thanks for posting this

Worse thing they could ever have done was do a ‘continuation’. Once Ronnie Barker was gone you could never recapture the essence that made it a classic and just ‘duplicating’ some of the fan favourites such as sayings and cast members made the thing seem both forced and unfunny. Somethings should just be left to lie.

I'm watching the original on KZread just now loved it ss a kid also only fools and horses is my favourite and porridge but this modern remake I've never watched any episodes of it yet! this video was the first thing I've ever saw of it and honestly I couldn't watch it now being to modern n rubbish like today's sitcom comedies! Still good on Del Boy it for taking on such a worrying position of Arkwright and now he has a son! just isn't right classics shouldn't be remade in my opinion it's like the saying "if it's not broken don't fix it"

15 years ago I would never believe that my three year old self would know years later that AUNTIE MABEL knows DEL BOY (who I'm in love with now - I didn't know him in 2003! Haha) but now just thinking of watching come outside as a kid, being obsessed, watching only fools last year, became obsessed, and watching this recently and finding out my two most favourite actor and actress are co-starring. It's insane. I wouldn't ever think they would know each other at all, it never came to mind! Anyway I bloody love it so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)

Very glad to see Granville, Mrs Featherstone, Nurse Gladys and Mavis return. The remake has received great criticism but I think it serves as a wonderful tribute to the original, hopefully the final series should be coming along sometime this year - it would be nice to see all the loose ends tied up (Granville & Mavis settle down together perhaps). I think Ronnie Barker would be very proud, very proud indeed.

It was totally unfunny and forced and the character left when Ronnie died. It was a collection of fan favourite repeated cliches from the last desperately trying you recapture the magic of the past and they never can.

I have to be honest : as much as I love the actors, the script and the jokes, the basic character of Arkwright & the story line is about a narcissistic person who mistreats his nephew - kept as an underpaid servant who's not allowed his own life but must work every hour. God forbid he marries as Arkwright would lose a very cheap worker or would have to pay him far more. Sometimes Arkwright is unacceptably violent with Granville. A man who "loves" his fiancé so much, he spends no money on her ever , never takes her out anywhere and his only interest in her is sexual - all the time . His only interest is to get into her bedroom & her knickers! And if you pay attention there's an implication of infidelity with other women if he ever got the chance. Really quite a horrible person who we love only because he's played by Ronnie. Ps not to mention that this character steals from clients by forcing money off them for items they don't ask for nor want and he fiddles their change & sells stuff thats soiled or damaged. The show could have been better if for one reason or another Arkwright lost to the victory of others in the show most weeks ie being horrible doesn't pay. This show implied being horrible was OK as he got away with it all the time, every time. It's funny because of the excellent acting and jokes about them and we love tge actors but the story isn't a funny one.
