Just a suggestion... try using the lathe in a safer way...it will rip your hand.

Not only your hand, but your whole arm and body can get pulled into that

Yeah I was thinking the same thing when he stuck his finger in a spinning chuck lolll
11:11 is extremely dangerous to use a cloth like that! I have some known friends that had 9 fingers (o less)... Be careful!

fr that shit gave me so much anxiety
Never put your finger into something spinning in a lathe..... That's how you lose them. Master craftsman or not.
Please make sure people know that your 'opal' is synthetic/lab grown. Other than that, it's nice enough.

Just a suggestion but a ring made from meteorite dust/shavings would look awesome 👍
@Jamesvandaele

Meteorite gets a cool look from the etching... so you would have to do the etching as an intermediate step. Obviously not impossible... but not easy.

Meteorite dust would just look like carbon dust and not nice at all. The solid Meteorite rings he has made are solid and not dust. They look like forged carbon fiber.

It would be out of this world
They look amazing, another idea you could try is making a blank rink from resin then using your dremel, carve channels into the ring which you then fill with opal dust/pieces, and seal with a fresh coat of resin.

This is actually genius!!!!
I always get nervous when he puts his finger in the spinning ring. I feel like that’s a really easy way to deglove your finger 😫

What I was thinking too... especially working with little bits of stone in resin. I don't know why he couldn't just put the sandpaper around a dowel and do the same thing. So sketchy.

I've used Agean Black opal and that blue you used in some of my rings. The color shift is killer.
patty cakes bakes has done it again
I would love to see this done with genuine natural opal. This is, of course, synthetic. I think some lightening opal or even good Welo opal chips would work well.
Patrick, love that you are in these videos. Please don't ever leave the videos you make. Would love to see a video you make about how to take care of the exotic rings that you create. I have the obsidian timascus ring and would love to hear the does and don'ts of care for this ring.
I totally appreciate the work you go through making these rings. Awesome video! 💯
opal is one of my favourite materials and i even got in in my wedding ring which i got from you guys. these look great!
Wow. That is absolutely gorgeous!
The second ring looks like a galaxy!
🤣 cracks me up the way this whole video suggests that they are master craftsman?! Have a word with yeselves.
Those are absolutely stunning.
Glad you're using fake opal. I'd cry if you did this to real opal.
Omg those are absolutely GORGEOUS!!! I just discovered your channel and your work is amazingly beautiful.
Your skills are amazing as always, keep up the good work my friend !!
love how it turned out
Your designs and the process involved set to acid-jazz tunes are hypnotic 🤩🤩😍 It is like inspiration meets Bill Nye meets The Artist meets The Productivist ❣️ I love the vibe 😊
Awesome, those ring are very stunning .
They're beautiful!
*STUNNING*
Absolutely mental putting your finger between the jaws while it's spinning like that.
Glad to see you are back in front of the camera Patrick!
Just WOW! Love it!
Fantastic! Very nice job man! :)
speechless, its beautiful
they look super cool
Yes my dear.. Opals are Beautiful..
Both beautiful rings
Of course it looks great!!! I know some people that make opal dust rings for a living. One of them does lots of live stuff on tiktok. I love lapidary work and polishing stones but one day would like to be able to work metal too
Not shabby, great work.
It has been done before my many people and they look amazing.
reaching to the lathe while it's spinning gave me anxiety jesus christ

Thats a beautiful Synthetic Opal ring! 😍
Amazing Ring!!👍👍
I love these rings! They are beautiful. I know you have done rings from a basic method,using hand tools mostly, which I love watching, being that I only have handtools to work with. Could you possibly, do another tutorial with this method, both of these, but not use the pressure pot and the vacuum chamber? Use a different, low tech, method?
Nuts to see he still got all his fingers
These would look so nice in a thinner width as stack rings😍
Very cool video. I just checked out your shop. A few things caught my eye
You the man. Great vids
I'm really taken away by the beauty in this, the whole process is fun.
To see all the colors is amazing isn't it ?
Love from India 💜
The problem with using resin is that it's supposed to gradually dissolve if placed into water. Washing hands is frequent and will be done accidentally if wearing the ring.
@arriannaniv
2 жыл бұрын
Is that all resin??
@spellwing777
2 жыл бұрын
Um...no. Resin is a type of plastic, and it won't just dissolve in water. IDK what you're using, but it ain't resin.
Thank you ☺️
Being a structural color, if you grind the opal fine enough the colors will go away. For the effect you want you might try silica powder as fine a mesh as you can get and then titrate it to get the effect you want. Cool ideas.
OOOOO I LOVE THE RED RING 😍😍 I think I would kill to have that color of red

Amazing
I definitely wanna see opal sand and glow powder I think it would look ghostly almost other worldly
ive made a few of these myself they look amazing
Nice tutorial ,now I know how make this ,but I'll try make this from natural adamooka opal .
Beautiful rings. I wish you had turned them around in the light to see how well they retained their sparkle.
Veri nice, love it. If you could make it into bangles that would be great… something that is very difficult to do with solid opals
Would love to see the medium chip opal w/glow powder set into a black titanium band with a thin strip of copper on either side of the opal.

Looking at getting a custom wedding ring set from you guys. We want unique and that's what you bring to us. When we order is there a way to have a KZread video of out rings being made???
Could you also use sapphires for this as we have a lot of smaller pieces or pieces that you just can't set due to cracks etc? This was a recommendation clip and am glad it was I have subscribed after watching these beautiful rings and will catch up on some more of your work
Wow! 🥰
Omg I want one
Try making a ring made with Diamond and opal dust. I do love the green and blue on both the rings.
The only thing with resin and epoxy, in time the resin goes yellow and muddy.. even the best of the best resin/epoxy. It just isn't developed enough to sustain the damage sunlight/UV does to the product..
Absolutely great 👍 would you be able to pour this into a mold ?
If you want a solid color haze in resin they make resin pigment powder specifically for that.
I always wondered if something could be made of that stuff.
Looks awesome. Maybe try a ball mill to grind that powder smaller?
@repentorperish1405

Trying to grind (rather than crush) too small a particle size might destroy/negate the the opal hydrous Silica's refractive and reflective properties.
Nice! Finger in the spinning lathe with long sleeves. Safety 3rd 😂
So shiny
Where does one go to check out your wonderful creations and possibly order one
I’m curious what you do with the excess chunks of material leftover? Other jewelry perhaps?
Lot's of Love from kolkata Bengal India..
They are beautiful!! 😍 I’d love one. Do you sell them?
I cannot wear my wedding/engagement rings to work. Would LOVE one of these size 7 😎
This video will blow up
Could you melt it and set it or not would be interesting to see
is putting your finger into the chuck of a fully spinning lathe wise?
So it does look amazing! Just one question, why would you ever crush an opal? Edit: …outside the context of a project like this, I mean.
Ehm okay so may I suggest a collab with Evan and Katelyn? I would love to see that :D!
My grandfather made one of these using real opal dust he had left over in his workshop back in the 90s.
Maybe this trend will take off by the time I get hitched. Opal is my favorite Stone but I'm an artist and don't need a traditional set stone to tear up my paper while working. A channel setting or something like this would be baller. Esp since I'm allergic to metal so a channel setting in metal would probably cause a reaction.
Why not make a mould for the apoxie tat stops you from needing to remove the centres and reduce waste?
Could you use a magnetic lab stirrer? Maybe less bubbles from the get go?
@athmaid

The resin is probably too viscous for that
putting your finger in a running lathe 😂
ive been thinking about buying my wedding band from you. if I do would you make a video out of it? iM fully willing to pay full price, would just love to see it being made!
woop woop where the lapidary rockhound gang at?
I wonder if that or something like it can be done with fused glass ?
I noticed in another video that the water used in the process of cutting opal turns white from the fine dust. Could you collect this and evaporate all the water and used the very fine dust in a ring?
Are those Gilson opals or resin opals?
Not really my thing, but excellent workmanship!
They have been doing this in Asia for years from Australian chip opal.
I love it. Could I use this dust, superglue and activator to do my fingernails?
@Hannah-fc4it
