OP Mölnlycke - Big project testing - Airsoft in Sweden

Спорт

OP Mölnlycke,
Testing out gear before you do a big project is extremely important. What works, what doesn't work, what things I need to practice more, does it need protection, what with rain or sun, and so on.
Because I'm working on a big airsoft project I want to cover as much as possible before I set foot on the big game and start filming the project. In this video I test out the Panasonic HC X20. A camera I bought specifically to shoot airsoft projects. It's an all in one camcorder. That has some advantages but also disadvantages. With those test I want to see the limits of the rig I'm using.
I follow along with a small team trying to get to their objective. While I'm doing that I explain what is going on, where we are and what I learned while doing this test. The test doesn't stop after the recording of the video. It's also coming home and editing to see what I missed. Which shots could have made this better.
I'm not done yet with testing, so more videos like this will come up and your feedback is very important to make choices.
Enjoy the video!

Beautiful footage, I especially liked the deeper color scheme in the second half of the video. I think you have many good ideas for making the storytelling work well. I like to focus on people, their interactions and their thoughts, so short interviews both before and after missions or interesting engagements could be really nice to get an insight into the planning and evaluation of missions. Interviews with some select players from the opposing side afterwards is also nice to get their perspective. Shots of people talking when planning how to tackle a mission is also great, although possibly hard to follow for an international audience if the communication is not in English. Dealing out several gopros to get several perspectives from the firefights is also nice if you have some cameras to spare. Animated maps is a very good way to show the overall movement, both for your squad and any opponents that you find. I have tried recording the radio communication (recorder connected to a baofeng) which is also a nice touch, although once again maybe less usable if not in English. Subtitles could gap a language barrier, but it is a lot of work to make them. The most important aspect I believe is to find a compelling story and tell it in a well structured way. Editing is important, but I know you are good at that. ;) I like to try and clearly present the mission of the squad, then show how they tackle the challenge and evaluate afterward how it went. Good luck, I will follow this project with great interest! :)

Thanks for the awesome feedback. That gives me more stuff to test and think about. Getting familiar with the gear is so important. Also making the gear ready for Airsoft. I'll practice a bit more on the interview style things too.

@@VerageAirsoft You welcome. Also I will point that is a good thing that you think that all fire group members to be identified and when you will film one of them or use his body cam video, his tactic ID/nickname to be put on the screen. I also liked your idea (which I have seen in other videos) to present the terrain map, the team's mission and during its development where the team is vs. the objective, where the enemies are and the way of attack/retreat. Maybe even on the map you can put symbols for terrain on a slope/hill, open field, enemy fortifications, roads...etc. Maybe in the future you will combine the footage from the field with the one from a drone ;) . In this way, it is easy for those who see the footage to understand the dynamics of the fight and what is happening on the field. Another idea (borrowed from video games) would be to put at the beginning the presentation of the team members, what roles they have in the battle and what equipment they have - means of communication, main, secondary weapons, back up weapons, and/or antitank/antibunker weaponry , if they have such equipment. 🍻

@@bogdananghel7477 That's some good ideas. I'm happy you point out some ideas I already want to test. By you putting it down here, it will made me test it for sure. The drone is coming and I have a DJI Mini 1, perfect for things like this. This to set the scene of where to group is at the time. The teammembers presentation, I' hesitatant to do it in the beginning but rather spread it out over the video. I indeed use a map a lot to explain what is going on, this I will use again in the big project. Even, if possible, use Ares Alpha to track their movements.

Fun video to watch 😃 Short interviews from players reaction to what the plan was/is. Following a few players would be interesting as in this game day going back to respawn was often a tough walk and something we all wanted to avoid. /Boonie 😎
