    As someone who grew up with the dapper and suave, version of Hugh Grant, I never EVER imagined I'd ever see him as an Oompa Loompa. Poorer I would've felt never giving it a chance. And I'm so glad I did because he was fantastic.

    @@imortalthejustalexthegreat4276I’m sure there’s going to be an HBOMax Original show one day on the origins of the Oompa Loompas, because that’s usually how all this story stuff works these days. Personally, one tie-in movie/show I would like to see is one that covers what happened in that bridge of time between Slugworth flying off by the end of the prequel and him being Willy’s ally in the original movie, because I am quite confused about that.

    ​@@AnthonyHeadway Oompa Loompas aren't real, though. Yes they were played by little people in the original film, but that was more out of necessity than anything because they didn't have the special effects tech that they do now. If anything I'd think it might be kind of insulting for a little person to play an oompah loompa. It's not like they cast Hugh to play a character who is supposed to be a human with dwarfism because that WOULD be messed up. I'm all for appropriate casting but Oompa Loompas not being played by little people seems like such an odd hill to me. They're fictional creatures.

When black people a-singin’ and a-dancin’ for the amusement and edification of the white folks struck a nerve with the woke of the 1960’s, the author changed them to Aryan tribesmen, same size, same deerskin clothing, same a-singin’ and a-dancin’. Because no one can call it a racist depiction if they’re white, can they? 😎

    To defuse any accusations of racist depictions before they could arise, the movie verse gave them green hair and orange skin, to highlight their utter unrelated nature to any existing human -voting bloc- phenotype.     I just finished watching this movie and OMG. This was indeed one of my favorite movies of all time. This movie was an escape to all and everything that bad and horrible in this world. I was laughing and smiling throughout this film. I fell in love with all of the characters. The word I can describe this movie is MAGICAL. Timothee Chalamet needs to win some type of award for this masterpiece, and the movie itself too. I encourage everyone to see this movie. I hope you enjoy the best time the same that I did. 10/10❤

    You have NO right to say that you need ''escape from the bad in the world'' unless you are actively experiencing it. You can ''escape'' it simply by switching off the news, turning it off. Those who experience this (aka live in warzone etcetera) CAN'T, so don't you dare to imply you needed ''escape'' from ''all the horrible in the world'' when you actually don't really know how in fact horrible it is.     Hugh Grant's character is called Lofty. Lofty was a character in the British TV sries "It Ain't Half Hot, Mum" who sang in a wonderful tenor voice. Perhaps a tip of the hat to that character? Maybe.🧐

    I love both of the wonka movies (the 1st one is my childhood favorite especially when i was sick) i love this as its own and a prequel to both movies especially the first one it was a suprising 10/10 for a wonka movie there was pure imagination and nostalgia done right

    @@Carma1023 the original made it seem like the timeline was, Wonka had a factory, his secrets kept getting leaked from spies dressed as workers, Wonka then locked the gates and shut everything down, and three years later the factory started running again with the gates still locked... Charly "but someone must be helping him run the factory.... But Who? Who are they?" Grandpa Joe "That's the biggest mystery of them all"

    the most hillarious part of this movie in my opinion was "oompa loompa dibity dee, I'm not in premium economy". It's just a perfect blend of the old song, with the randomness of modern humour that I'm a sucker for.

    Actually Willy Wonka was short with a goatee in the original book so Peter would be right in the part if it was followed just like the book.
