Ontario’s Southwest Camping Road Trip: Part 6 - Port Burwell Provincial Park

Ойын-сауық

The Happy Camper is heading to yet another Ontario Provincial Park in Southwestern Ontario - Port Burwell in Elgin County. He’s here to camp - but he also visits the Port Burwell Marine Museum and Lighthouse, as well as the infamous HMCS Ojibwa Submarine.
“It is time to peel back the curtain on some of the exploits of the Silent Service during the Cold War when espionage, stealth and secrets put Canada in the thick of this clandestine world.”

I remember camping on a weekend there and being part of a fund raiser for the sub. Silent auction. Also they were giving an "inside the fence" tours of the sub. Able to touch the sub. Awesome!

Hay I work about half hour drive away from that Sub in the town of Aylmer, I am a flatbed driver. The locals were saying someone stole all the copper out of it and there not sure if it will open up to tours again.

The two things I hate most about campgrounds are 1) Feral Children because you can’t hunt them 😎 And 2) Fire rings because I can’t use my reflector oven 😢
