Wow, memories. I was there back in the 70's, probably around the time this was filmed. I remember those swinging heavy bags and those tilty things. The 70's was so much brighter and colourful than these days.

Seeing this video instantly brings me back to my childhood growing up as a kid in the mid 70s. I remember every piece of equipment there in the film as if it were yesterday. Now that was simple clean fun where you could just be a kid. I'm 52 this year and wish I could go back to those times at Ontario Place to be a kid again. It's a shame the kids today can't experience what a gem Ontario place was back then............................

Man, this takes me back! I remember so well my summers in the late 90s/early 2000s. Every September going to Ontario place in the morning and the CNE in the evening. I never left children's village without a scrape or a bruise, but I loved all of it!

Watching this video brings back so many fun memories of playing there as a kid in the mid 70s. It was such a fun time and place to play in. Today our jackass city councillors would freak out at all the possible safety hazards and the possibility of people suing the city for dangerous equipment that all the equipment would be banned as a safety hazard. What a shame the kids today will never get to experience such a fantastic place Children's village was. Oh to be 7 years old again :-)

LOL I was 3. This place was absolutely epic. The Ontario government flushed it completely down the toilet by knocking it down, along with the Forum, to put in Molson Amphitheatre. 100% typical government not understanding the attraction of Ontario Place, and selling out to corporations that ruined it all. Those companies became foreign owned, and now it's some Budweiser thing. Talk about bad decisions. I bet they got paid off though. Corruption.

I've never been to Canada but seeing this makes me really nostalgic of my childhood. I'm 54 and I remember having real fun playing with other kids and the world just had a different vibe. Another thing I notice in the footage: I didn't see any chubby kids. Kids were so much more active back then.

We played outside for hours, even in the winter. There was TV but it “ended” and had limited evening programs for kids. I was a bookworm and a music nut so more indoors and less active but rode my bike, skipped rope, and had food that wasn’t full of additives.

It looks so different than I remember it! I have many memories there from the 70s, but seen through the eyes of a child that place was pure magic. It makes me sad that my children don’t have access to places like this that actually encouraged real play on such a big scale- no rides moving their bodies around for them, no instructions, just real true play. But thanks to “progress” I’m certain that a place like this would be deemed unsafe or not stimulating enough. These truly were the good old days when children could really be children and have the freedom to play for hours without technology guiding them as to how to play. *sigh*

I know I’m responding 3 years late but there are places…high ropes courses, or head out of the city and try caving (Rockwood Conservation, Warsaw Caves, Scenic Caves), or head over to Centre Island and try kayaking or canoeing. Even just hiking and spotting frogs, snakes, salamanders is fascinating to do.

Brought back so many memories. Some of my favorite childhood moments - and some of the worst skinned knees, ever. LOVED the Helter Skeltor - climbing on all those rope nets. Gawd I miss Ontario Place (and childhood). I got to take my oldest son there the year before it closed. It was already well faded from its glory days, but it was still a ton of fun. I really hope the Ontario Government does right by this place, one day. I also laughed at the mother at 0:43 lighting up a cigarette in the middle of the children's play area. Gotta love the 70's.

That metal slide a couple of minutes in was a scalding wonder in the midday summer sun. But, this park was my favourite! I got to push the 12 and under as I was a short teen. Notice, too, how kids are just “having fun”. Much less parent-guarding (which, yes, became more expected here as the years went on…a few kids disappeared, then Bernardo, and I couldn’t even have my own kiddos walk 25’ in front of me without a stranger questioning me). What is close to this now…camping, geocaching…just being outside! I did take my whole class snowshoeing a few times this winter-not one had ever tried it, and some didn’t even know what it was.

My mom took me here often in the early 80s and I loved it so much! There was also a super fun waterslide on which you sat on a mat and raced down these light blue slides. Epic fun! They later replaced the cool slide with a much more boring one. And Children's Village closed down. So sad to think of all the fun that was had there all gone. Why would anyone not want a place like this for their children?
