@helenf7738 Yeahh I'm ngl, when I wrote the text it was basing off of videos I'd seen previously with subtitles for the backing vocals and from what i could find online (The lyrics are from the God of War 2 Main Titles, the motif itself is from the Great Sword Bridge of Athena from GOW1). I was knew there was a chance something wasn't going to be accurate, either subtitle text or meaning, so I tried to give a quick look before making my comment. From what I heard, the lyrics themselves were based on a Homeric Hymn to Ares "Ares, Exceeding in Strength. Chariot Rider, Golden-Helmed-" I don't speak Greek though, so all I knew was the english variation of the words. My apologies, friend. :(

I honestly also love the detail of lighting the scene. When Kratos enters the room, all the light is focused on the Greek Kratos, because he's the topic of the conversation. The moment Norse Kratos starts to think of doing more, that light starts to shift away from the Greek Kratos. And when Norse Kratos starts to talk about placing himself in service of others, and bringing hope to the Realms, the light is completely focused on him. It's a nice way to show that Kratos really understands now what Gods should be like, and that he has to accept his past to do it. Santa Monica Studios, masters of their craft...

Upon rewatch, it seemed like Young Kratos was looking to his current self for the answer. Hands down, no hostility, no lack of interest. He was waiting for Kratos’ answer, his reason to seek redemption, his reason to take up the mantle once again as a God of War. The answer? That despite all the mistakes he’s made, the times he’s suffered, he’s found friends family & a place where he belongs. Here he is, a changed man and guardian rather than destroyer. And thus Young Kratos disappeared.

The reason Kratos’ legend is so well known and often times thought to be exaggerated because up until that point, killing another god was almost unheard of. It may have been Valhalla that helped Kratos find answers.. But I think his theme for the conclusion is perfect because at the end if the day HE had to be the one to come to terms with his past: slaying the undeserving, his arrogance, everything. Even so much as apologizing to an imaginary Helios which back then would have been totally out of character for him. At the end of the day we all must make the choice to better ourselves, or continue an otherwise unproductive/destructive way of life. What a great series.

I legit had no idea what the title was saying until I played the video. Maybe something more like “GoW Valhalla’s ending hits different with just the music.” Also what an amazing ending to this dlc. I got major Shakespeare vibes from this monologue (or is it a soliloquy 🤔)

I miss vintage voice of young Kratos by TC carlson. Atleast couple of dialogues like The path I chose is Vengeance, and I paid for that, I got backstabbed by Gods, they deserves death etc., by even one more step, Kratos vs Kratos fight will be more interesting. Like in Ghost of sparta i guess.

And when I say people I mean haters of the new games but that's a legitimate question I wonder about🤔. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

In many ways, we all embody Kratos. Each of us harbors vengeance, abides by our own creeds, and, if endowed with omnipotent power, might risk annihilating the world. The ‘God of War’ saga has imparted a profound lesson to me, underscoring that hope is humanity’s most sublime gift. It warns against succumbing to greed, for in doing so, we risk morphing into a figure akin to Kratos-consumed by avarice and vengeance. Yet, the journey of Kratos teaches us that redemption is within reach. By confronting and overcoming our inner demons, much like Kratos does, we can transmute our basest impulses into a force for positive change. This narrative, although unfolding within the confines of a video game, poses a deeply philosophical inquiry. It eloquently illustrates how, amidst our darkest trials, hope remains an indomitable beacon. In my view, the creators of ‘God of War’ were divinely inspired, tasked with conveying to humanity that hope is the ultimate tool with which to conquer the world. Kratos’ life, marked by both ruin and redemption, serves as a powerful allegory for our own potential to rise above our flaws and forge a path of righteousness. It’s a reminder that within the tapestry of mythology and fiction, there lie timeless truths about the human condition-about our capacity for both destruction and profound renewal.
