I couldn’t make a definitive id of the creature, but it was odd that he was in knee deep water and a dolphin was stuck there. Where I live, I’ve seen dolphins throw themselves on banks and sandbars catching fish a lot. I have never once seen one even struggle to get back to the water. Even the ones learning seemed to do decent enough at figuring out how to get back to deeper water after going aground basically. ( I used to bar back and get off work at 3 am. Would take canoe out into the creeks and fall asleep in the bottom of canoe, wake up to sun, and when tides matched up, dolphins feeding.)

I'm in SW Florida (the Paradise Coast), and am from a "historically" Floridian family. My family, both maternally and paternally, hit the state as early as after the Revolutionary War. This is a vast, and vastly complex, state. And, with great weather year round, comes great weirdness year round. And, yes, Floridians actually do watch out for alligators on a daily basis. I live where there are tons of alligators and millionaires. And, lastly I remember Miami's South Beach when it was a beach with but two hotels, the Fountainbleu and the Eden Roc.

THE COLORFUL SCREEN: That screen was first used as a black and white thing in the 1940's on the Television, because way back then, even though you had a TV (tele) for 24hours, the channels did not have enough content to broadcast for all 24 hours. The tradition followed into the color (colour) era of TV, using that exact screen, as a way to let someone know that 'yes, this is a channel, but we have nothing to put on at the moment.' But it serves a second purpose. That screen is set to see every primary digital color, which means you could always recalibrate your Television as soon as a channel went off the air. Since that screen would be there for hours at a time, you just needed to wait until a program finished, and then you would use a round magnet on the back of the television to bring the thing back into perfect color, or at least the way you thought it should look, based on those colors. Over time, the screen was seen less and less and less, because more and more Dave-worthy content was amassed. But it still sticks around for people in graphic design to correct their images, and for tech nerds.

I am a rarity, as I am a 6th generational Floridian. What I can say is that living in Florida, comes with the knowledge that we are one of the top lightning spots in the world. We have gators in every body of water, and crocodiles in the brackish areas along the coast. We consistently have the most shark attacks in the world, and we have tons of seriously deadly snakes. A hundred years ago this whole place was mostly swampland. Mix that with the heat and oppressive humidity, and things can get a bit weird. Nothing like living in a beautiful, oppressive, and deadly natural environment to make you just say f it , I might die getting in the water, but it is too hot not to. That is what being a Floridian is about. That and when the hurricanes come, you stock up on booze, and generators that can keep the radio and blenders working for the hurricane party drinks. And as for Cuban culture it began pre Castro in Tampa. That is where the Cuban sandwich was invented, and where all the cigars were made.

Used to work downtown Charleston, South Carolina. There were many days when the tide and rain worked together to flood waist deep between car and work. I would take my kitchen Birkenstocks off and remove the insoles. Step into these plastic bags we would use to cover over rolling racks (+6ft tall, 4 wheeled metal racks used to hold sheet pans of dough and food). Pull the bag up to my armpits and use tape suspenders to hold up. I would the step back into my Birkenstocks and wade through the water to the high ground car was parked at. The rubber Birkenstocks would keep the thin plastic bag protected from the ground. Usually, I could drive out of whatever was between exit and bridge out of downtown. I was on a high ground block and every intersection around was low and flooded, two of the corners would get a nasty current flowing in certain conditions and they were too sketchy to try wading through.

LOL I never understood why that very first clip was in this compilation. I've seen those sign people all over the country, every city I've been in, not just Florida. They can get paid quite a lot for that since it draws attention to the sign. The better the sign spinner/flipper, the more money they make. I had a friend who used to be very good at it in Baltimore. Great reaction, as always!

I don't know if that fish was already on the line. But if somebody that lives in South florida, sometimes the roads get so full we actually take boats down the road instead of cars. When it floods really bad, the cars will die because the water goes over the hood. So considering we could swim from one lake to the lake across the street because the road was so flooded, wouldn't surprise me if a fish could swim across the street

At 7:52 the guy is pressuring washing the roof. As a former South Floridian this is probably mandated by the home owners association (HOA). The women that sit on the boards of these HOAs have nothing better to do than walk around and pick out things you must do to maintain your home to HOA standards. They are Stepford wives who are incapable of original thought and most residents hate them.

As for the guy fishing in the road, I’ve seen fish in the road when the lakes/rivers flood, so it’s possible he was actually fishing. I’ve seen a lake flood and fill the road with catfish and even had one time it flooded bad enough that I opened my front door and got to see a school of fish swim by.

The plastic bag crossing the street had the X Files music on it-probably don’t know that TV show which was big back about 15 years ago (supernatural, events deemed classified by the U.S. government). It was also used for the clip of the white bird (a heron or egret) on the car on the highway.

lol it seems all the major areas in Florida have people dress as superheros. I remember back in the day in Tampa we had guy that would cross the Franklin bridge dressed as Batman on a Scooter and would go to the Castle Night Club in Ybor. Also there was the half naked man that was called the Senator. yea dude would only where his underwear but the club allowed it.
