    Don't take this the wrong way but...it's nice to see someone older riding an XR. I've been watching OneWheel videos for quite some time mustering up the finances and the confidence to take on this sport after retiring my skateboards years ago from my early to late teen riding. I'm feeling inspired here. Thanks a bunch.

    I hope you made it! after two people attempting to scam me twice i finally found someone on fb marketplace that sold me a 14 mile super fresh setup with tons of accesories and two extra tires for $1950. absolutely loving it two days in I use it for my commute in nyc and upstate ny. it’s scary at first no doubt,but it’s a blast!

    @@themalteseninja8307 I'm on my board most days just riding on the grass here on 4 acres. Have not taken it out on the asphalt yet but I will. I've been practicing dismounting. That's scarier than just riding it, actually. Fell off twice but nothing serious due to the comfort of falling on grass. Also practicing going back and forth in a 2-3 foot span to build general confidence. Glad for you that you got a decent deal. I bought mine from FM directly and got orange accessories (rail guards, fender) and a High Kush rear footpad & float plates from Craft&Ride.. Feels very secure. I recommend using something with give for your rear foot. Considering Fangs 2.0 or 3.0 but haven't ordered that yet. Still going slow enough to avoid a nose dive. Have you nose dove yet?

    Nice! You'll have a blast on it. Take your time...you'll be surprised it's really easier to ride than it looks. The hardest part of day 1 is just getting 'Off' the board. I'm sure you've seen all the videos. I know I've said it before, but always feel responsible to others who buy (especially after watching my videos)....just keep your speed 'In Check' and you'll be fine. So many of us (myself included) just wanted to let this thing fly (and it will). The stats say it does 19mph (and it does)...but keep it at 10 for at least the first week. Then 15 tops....I might do 'short bursts' above that...but *NEVER..EVER...more than the 19mph* ....it's just to risky. You might see these young guys getting away with it but the boards just to unpredictable above 20mph. Follow that advice and I guarantee you'll be fine. Keep me posted!!

    Cool vid! 👍 I got the black flight fins shield, which is real tough but I don't use it. I cut a new one from thin flexible kitchen chopping mat, you get it from the kitchen stores usually in a pack of 4 mats. It cut easy with scissors and is lighter and really tough. It was a bit too flexible so I strengthened the sides a bit and shortened it a bit too so it hugs the tire closer. Anyway, you can make it out of any flexible plastic just test a small piece of the plastic first to make sure it's not brittle like that clear one you had. 🙂

    I got the XR Plus a week ago. I've been riding it everyday since. I got a new fender and now that I saw your fang wheels I totally want to get them. The first day I got mine the nose went straight into the ground and I was doing 20mph. Let me tell you I didnt think it would hurt as bad as it did. Granted I was wearing a helmet, but after that spill I bought knee, elbow, and wrist pads. Since then it's been smooth sailing.

    Rule of thumb..keep it under 20mph to avoid those nose dive condition. Anything over 20mph, I just don’t trust to this day. My app said I hit 26mph when I nose dived. Never again! Glad your all geared up now and weren’t hurt ( to badly!). I’ve still got the scars. 🤙😳

    I've got an XR with flight shield, basic black. And it has had no issues with durability. I live in Eugene Oregon and trail ride often. I believe the only issue with your shield is the plexiglass material used is more brittle, it's for more aesthetic appeal than durability. My shield is made of a tougher composite material. Try a colored model of the fender. I think you'll have better results. Keep the stoke alive brother, stay afloat!!!

    I just picked up an xr and am still learning. A little scared to hit pavement cause I'm not 100% comfortable on it yet, but its a lot of fun. However, I'm wondering if its worth upgrading to a tire with better treads for off road. My tire has barely started to even show any signs of wear, so I'm thinking it might be too soon, but if the treads are worth it, I might do it. Also thank you for mentioning one stop in Bridgewater. I've been wondering if there was a spot in Jersey close to me that would be able to do some upgrades and knowing that there is is such a sigh of relief.

  • @twerkingtwinkies2335
    @twerkingtwinkies23353 жыл бұрын

    Just an idea, take the tire shield and use it as a template to cut out the tire shield shape on a sheet of rubber. It would take a bit of trial and error fabricating but then you'd have a very durable/bendy/flexy cover for the wheel that wouldn't snap on you like that. You could even cut the ends of that shield off and bolt them to a piece of rubber on both sides so it would install as normal. Maybe use a piece of your old tire for that middle section 🤔🤷‍♂️ can't wait to get mine, modding is fun, and there's tons of options for this

    Nice video - I appreciate the upgrade reviews. My XR plus is a year old now and nearing 500 miles and the Vega tire is continually weeping sealant - probably from all the sharp crushed rock I ride over. Anyway, I'm thinking of a tire upgrade and I'm wondering why you didn't go with one of the treaded tire options, considering all the trail you ride? By the way, I also have the Kush and really like it. Thanks again for sharing your experiences.

    My man said "armor-dillah's" and "koosh", lol. Great video. Just poking fun. If you care, armor dilloz is pronounced like armadillo, with an extra r. Kush is like push, with a k. Heard you mention Bridgewater - I'm one town away, so I suppose we're close. With your flight sheild, it looks like since the tire was spinning as soon as your foot came off, the pinch from your foot against the tire, the spin of the tire in that direction (forward) grabbing it and quickly lifting it up, and the way it's locked into the front fin produced a perfect storm and creased it. Since they don't crease, they break. Sucks... Hope they replaced it for you. Though not really a defect, it's the cool thing to do, especially since you're giving them free advertising...

    I have both the Clear and Black Flight Fins Fenders for about 1 year now. The Black one seems to distort somewhat in direct sunlight ( I live well above the 49th parallel) , but is easily reshaped. The Clear FF Fender doesn't have this issue, I have 2 JBL Charge3 speakers attached to the clear fender. Many tumbles and crashes, never had an issue with the clear fender, just gets scratched up a little and dirty. It looks like the clear fender you have has a manufacturing defect. A replacement fender can be made quickly (and cheaply) from a large enough tupperware style container,, use your old fender as a template.

    It might have been the clear plastic that they used for the fight fender that looks pretty thin. I got the black fender and it is super thick and durable. No way it's gonna snap as easily as the clear one does and it's much harder to get it to bend and fit inside the flight fin mounts. I have to wrestle mine in there and in your vid it looks like you barely used any effort to squeeze that thing in there. I would probably recommend getting the black one instead of that clear piece of plastic. Also- if you got that fender then get a pair of flight fins as well. They will help you feel more locked into the board during carves even if you're not using them for jumping- they're totally worth it. Not sponsored by then but I think they're one of the best aftermarket products for the OW for sure. Aside from float plates of course. Cheers mate!

    Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the clear flight fender seemed thin and not a ton of flex in it but was very easy to put on/off. Thanks for the feedback on the 'black' flight fender...that was exactly what I was wanting to know. Looks like the black will be the next purchase then. As far as the flight fins....they make me nervous since I kind of feel like my feet are locked into place but I've been told by others you can just pop them in/out of the fins if you want. I'm certainly contemplating getting a pair to put on though. Took a nasty nose-dive the first week I had this board so I think I might still be having flashbacks if I start riding with those fins. But, your right...I'm sure they carve better. Thanks for the feedback!

    For a better flightshield. It seems like they're just cut acrylic, I'm not sure why they're charging so much for it because it seems like it'd be very easy to mass produce them and thin acrylic sheets aren't very expensive. My advice would be just create the file yourself using a free CAD program, it's a simple shape, and you don't need to be super exact about it, but hopefully you still have your broken shield that you can go off of. And then send the file to a company that cuts acrylic pieces. You can choose any material you want, including thinner material that won't break as easily, or material that can bend easier. For instance, pvc acrylic is pretty malleable and can bend quite a lot before breaking. But I think you could fix your problem by just using a thinner normal acrylic that wouldn't be under as much strain as a thicker one. Maybe 1/32 inch clear acrylic.

The pints going to be more maneuverable and quicker to respond but it's just to small of a board for me. I'm about 210lbs so its something you want to factor in.
