    Ryan Helsley has started pitching only the 9th and only one inning this year. He has had the “not available” stigma hanging over his head the past couple of years, lost arbitration, and also has dealt with some injuries over the last couple of years. Regardless, this year Helsley is absolutely dominating and I think it was a good move for the cardinals, regardless if it’s related to Helseys monetary situation

    Regarding the Hader situation, you have to take the organization into consideration. Not all organizations treat their players the way MIL does.

    I respected Hader for limiting his workload then, and I do even more now. After signing that big contract, he has been more than willing to go to multiple innings for the astros.Anytime him/the team feels its necessary. It's very clear he's willing to do whatever for the team, but just didn't want to risk injury beforehand

    why not try trading kyle tucker this year ? i’m sure there are teams who are all in and would want to buy kyle tucker for a few high prospects and get a hot bat. i’m not saying tons of value but good value if they don’t intend to resign him or they don’t think he’ll come. they can easily get a couple high prospects and a solid player since looking at the team rn they don’t look to great. idk just a thought since they brought up astros like to bring players up

    Why does it seem like there’s more and more money and contract news than actually baseball and standings. Tucker does not reach free agency for almost two seasons… . How about discussing his being stashed between Altuve and Alvarez… does that factor in? Or whatever…

    Ranger also is top tier at fielding his position. Every time there's a ball hit within reach of him, he's as cool and coordinated as possible. No wild awkward throws to first, no panicking, just solid, reliable fielding. He's a beast.

    Probably too early to tell. Taking a snapshot currently, I'm taking Witt. But Cruz needs to develop. It should be noted that Cruz is hitting dingers at a slightly faster pace (21 AB/HR) than Witt (25 AB/HR) at the moment.

    Here’s the thing… you don’t “look out for yourself” when you are on a TEAM. Hader is a professional athlete who makes more than I make in a year in just a few weeks. Seeing self titled “elite” athletes assign their own availability is a waste of team money.

    If you were the athlete, agent, or parent of the pitcher you would be singing a different tune. Heck if your team had signed him this offseason you’d be singing a different tune. Your thinking with YOuR wallet and lifestyle. He did what’s best for him and his.

    Baseball is a business man. If the team sees a better option they are not going to say "oh but this is a team" No, they make the move. I hate the "He makes so much money already" argument from some fans so fucking much. You know that baseball is going to make money, the money is going somewhere, if it's not going to the players then it's going to the owners. You spend money to watch Hader pitch, or Harper hit, or Ohtani to do both, so they earn their money. Nobody pays to watch you do whatever it is you do. These guys also have a small window to make this money, relievers especially, they get one shot at making life changing money. As Brault said, Hader did everything that was asked of him and was told "that's not worth anything" and so he decided to only do what the team themselves and the system told him was worth something.

    Hader was told by the Brewers during arbitration that they didn't care about him going multiple innings and that they only care about saves. If you are told that you don't need to do something and still get paid the same, then why do it?

  • @doyce100

    @doyce100

    @augie2802 one thing Hader said before this season is "they are invested in me, I am invested in them, we are taking the same risks now. I'll do whatever is needed" Paraphrasing a bit but that was the sentiment. He has absolutely backed that up. Gone multiple innings 3 or 4 times this season for the Astros, including last night.

    @@doyce100look how many times this dude said "money." Unfortunately money is valued over team every single time for players these days... except for cases like JD Martinez where he picked ball park over contract, however that is with a long term view on the money.
