I have the Mezz.1 and I have to admit, it is really hard not to start the ball on your intended line. Basically removing one of the three factors involved in putting is a game changer.
I finally had the opportunity to try the L.A.B putter, and was amazed at how it feels. It felt automatic, all I had to do was swing the putter and it did the rest. I never felt like the putter fought me, it just did it's thing.
I got to believe that most people who are trying LAB putters , myself included, are more than happy to switch to a different stoke since the current one isn’t working too well!
Andy, I fully understand what you’re saying about learning a new style of putting and sticking with it. I putted with an EVNROLL putter for close to 6 years, and was recently fitted for a Makefield VS putter, which has only 1 degree of loft and a lie angle that is 4 degrees flatter than my EVNROLL putter. In addition, the Makefield putter has an exceptionally heavy clubhead (the EVNROLL is certainly no lightweight, but the Makefield putter is noticeably heavier). All of these changes in the putter have forced me to change my putting stroke (far less forward press, less force and acceleration in the putting stroke, etc.). So far, I have stuck with the new Makefield putter for more than 25 rounds of golf, but there have been some disastrous results, particularly when putting on fast greens! I think that I am finally getting used to the new putter, and my putting statistics are showing that to be the case, but it has not been an easy transition!
I use the Lab Directed force 2.1 putter and I love it. Yes I had to change stroke and found that the claw grip suited me best with this putter and also the actual stroke changed to get the best benefit of the club
I played with a center shaft Seemore putter for several years and really liked it, especially good from 12 ft and closer. The weakness for me was from longer distance and inconsistent pace from anything even slightly off center. The Mez has the center shaft plus the perimeter weighting to increase MOI and stability. If I wasn't so happy with looks and results with my Mizuno M-Craft IV, I would definitely give it a try.
I have a Mezza Max and I love it. I have never putted better in my entire life. Now it’s not an attractive putter for sure. That’s one of the reasons why I didn’t really consider it when they came out. I sort of like blade putters, but there’s just no debate here. The results speak for themselves. I didn’t try the other LAB models, but this putter is not leaving my bag. If you can’t putt with this thing, you probably can’t putt with anything. Easy as can be. If I get a good read on the line, it’s got a great chance of going in. My short putts have dramatically improved. 6 feet and under, it’s almost automatic.
I've used a bullseye putter for 30 years, tried a mizuno mallet putter for 2 years, but am now back to the trusty bullseye putter. Today I holed out 10 one putts! Nothing beats the feel I have with it because of it's simplicity.

Right! ...So, how much do you want for your 30 year old Bullseye? (Joking...joking.)
Andy I am a L.A.B. user, I have the DF. I understand your dilemma switching putters, though going from LAB to another may be a bit more extreme, it is only slightly more so if you move from a face balanced putter to a significant toe hang, both require different strokes to make them effective, hence they are created for golfers with different putter swing arcs and to test them effectively you must adapt to that type of arc.
Have to say I'm impressed. Your commitment to your game is more important than your commitment to the channel and your reviews. BRAVO.. I'm sure you started the channel for the love of the game and your personal improvement. This putter works for you. I'm glad it's staying.
At 6:47 mark, you can see the bottom middle 2 screws are rusting while stainless steel weights are not. If Mezz is watching, something to improve upon?
Glad that you’re keeping it in Andy. I’ve read other reviews which have mentioned about getting used to a slightly different putting stroke, but I’ve not found this with my LAB ‘Directed Force’. As I’ve mentioned in other reviews, it’s a great piece of kit and by being better at putting has taken a lot of pressure off my short game.

@@TheAverageGolfer yes, I wonder why. Maybe it’s a reflection on how bad my putting was 😂
Hi Andy. How did you get fitted for the model you have. Did you do the remote fitting service. Seems a bit of a risk as these putters are not cheap.
I’m currently using a Scotty Cameron Golo 5 that I’ve had for 7 years - I’m having a putter fit on the 23rd October to see if a LAB putter will work better for me
I have the same putter and everything Andy says is correct however I didn’t find the swing to be difficult. I let my arms hang straight, lock the forearms and swing in a pendulum motion. The club does the rest
How did the putter hold up after a year? I’m worried about the durability of the aluminum. I practice putting and play through aeration a lot.
Very interesting mate. Your putting has always been steady but the Mezz has definitely improved your success rate from what I see. Another first class, top quality vlog.
If this was that revolutionary, every pro would be using it
Putter is probably the longest surviving club I tend to buy . . . Love the travel bit
I really liked testing the Mezz. But it had a fatal flaw. Couldnt pick the ball up with it on gimmes!
Just awesome!!
Have you tried the Broomstick version? Thoughts? Really seems to work for Lucas Glover.
Thanks for all the great content. With this putter, starting at about 6:30 in the video, is that rust on the center screws?

Keep it in the bag. I am one year into my DF 2.1 experiment.
I love mine Andy it’s staying in my bag.
Beautiful course Andy. Enjoy your stay. The L.A.B. putter has me intrigued. I use the Evnroll ER2 Black and really like it.
Super interesting video Andy. Pleased it's staying in the bag. Would love to get my hands on one.

If you’ve used it so successfully then why even think of changing. Confidence on the green is so important. Nothing worse than hitting a green and then having no confidence with your putter is soul destroying.

Yeah his reasoning made no sense. Even if his stroke isn’t matching he already has such great results then why switch.
Do you have a video that explains the different stroke which is needed for this putter?

I would love to see one also, I have a lab and don’t think I’ve holed anymore putts than with my old putter so yes an online lesson from lab on the stroke required would be great.
Goodwood. Great putters. I tried many different putters for years out of curiosity (including Lab), not any more. No I didn’t spend to do so. I just try other player’s putters on the practice green at my club. Don’t forget the pros only make 20% of 20 footers, so work on your game to get closer to the hole. You get 36 putts, if you only take that many and cannot score well then you got more problems than your putter.
Thank you for once again a straightforward, direct review. I know that they have an armlock shaft if needed (or wanted) Currently that is my method. Any thoughts? PS, enjoy Portugal

Great video as always and I really like the idea of the Mezz. But rusty screws in the sole, really? Could L.A.B not have used stainless bolts, especially when you consider the price?

I love my Link.1 LAB
After using the Lab putter for 3 years..screw every other putter. I seriously can't think of anything or excuse that would make me switch from LAB
Can't get on with my Mezz 1, Evnroll Er Zero is a keeper for me same tech but easier on shorter puts
Any more info on the type of stroke you’ve had to adopt Andy? Just recently bought the same model putter myself
@TheAverageGolfer

I talk about it in detail on my previous videos on the Mezz
Why is a $600 putter having rust issues on it’s screws as seen in the video? It’s less than a year old. They should be high end stainless steel for that kind of money. Even $200 putters use better screws.
Do you wish you would have ordered the “heavy” version?
I can not stand fat grips so there is no way I would use one! I average 29 putts a round currently so I don't know how many strokes it would save if I could switch.
I want one of the Mezz putters, but I want an in-person fitting, if I am going to spend driver-level money on one. There is no fitting center at all close to me, and I don’t trust the online fitting. 😒
@runpuddrun
Жыл бұрын
The online fitting is the same as you’ll get in person. It’s just lie and length.
@SteveMac.
Жыл бұрын
@@runpuddrun LOL, what’re you doing here? I thought you were only on the Discord…😂
Most important question on this putter: Can you pick up the ball with the fangs?
I’ve been playing a Scotty Newport 1.5 for years and made some long putts today. Want to try the mezz or the link but don’t want to spend the money if it won’t stay in the bag…
a big sway off the ball
What is your lie angle and did you find the lab putter lie angle that is right for you is different from others? The online fitting system doesn't sit well with me as it presumes the lie and length of my current putter is going be the same as lab.....Current puttrr is bog standard off the shelf like most.
@adriantwiss600
Күн бұрын
This is one of my concerns. If I understand the concept correctly the lie angle is crucial to it working properly and that would require a fitting. A fitting centre near me will do a while you wait fit and build and you take your new putter away with you on the same day. That will cost you £125 plus the cost of the putter (estimated at £500).
Understood, makes total sense
I'll take it 🙂
Send it over to a subscriber if you are dumping it. I like my Scotty, but willing to try the lie angle balance putters.

I see your dilemma with the putter. Your channel is about reviewing equipment for us average golfers, so you can't very well change your format of the channel. I look forward to your reviews as they are very helpful.
Why don't you switch to the Lab Link putter as this does not need a different technique (no forward press etc..) but you still get the benefit of the face balance and then reviewing other clubs would be on a par
Always remember it's the Indian not the arrow. If you love it keep it. Good luck Andy.

@Joker-yh2xg
Жыл бұрын
What if their rich, find is their only hobby, and the 600-800 dollar putter works better for them? Probably hard to believe for some, but these days more then ever, 600-800 is literally nothing.
@TMar1961
Жыл бұрын
@@Joker-yh2xg If THEY ARE rich then yes the money means little to them. Golf is my only hobby and I'd never spend that on a putter, but then again I've only used 3 putters in the 30 years I've been playing. I've never seen anyone actually using a LAB putter but admittedly I don't play at $300 green fees places or private clubs. I see lots of SC and Odyssey though.
In the end it is just a hunk of metal at the end of a stick. The arrogance of golfers to think that they read greens and aim correctly so spending more $$$$$ on a putter will 'sink more putts' is really something.
Make sure they pay you, to put it in the bag...
This makes ZERO sense. Your dumping the Mezz because you change putters often for the sake of reviewing them?? This isn’t fair to L.A.B. to post this video with this title that your dumping it…

nah, all to pricey for me, I can swing my old putter well enough ans get similar close finishes as you just did. Won't be long and Putters and drivers are gonna hit the wall with their unbridled price rises. can't justify it much more. Since one AI is doing the work of 5 hands on people, less and less needed in the office. and carbon is now so efficient, drivers can't be worth $1200+, no matter how the spin doc's sell it,

You had me worried Andy, I thought you were really thinking of moving on from the Mezz. After the success you’ve had with it, that would’ve been a shock but I understand what you’re saying about switching back and forward between putting styles. Personally I’ve still got a Scotty in the bag. I’d love to try a Mezz but they’re just not readily available enough to test one before buying. I keep looking at GolfClubs4Cash but so far no luck. Good luck for 2024 with the Mezz 🏌♂
