My baby was stillborn. I was 9 months pregnant. My uterus also ruptured during an attempted VBAC. I have heard ALL those possibilities (if I became pregnant again) from professional health care workers as well.. I'm scaring myself because I just do not care.... I will try again. I also have two living children to care for.. I had two extremely rare things happen to me on the SAME DAY so yes, I carefully listened and analyzed my doctor's opinion. I'm super lucky to have an OB doctor that is on board with me TTC again..But no one will understand.. why you are willing to take such risks, unless they have given birth to a sleeping baby at 9 months pregnant and had their uterus rupture. So therefore I will never listen to anyone else's opinion on this... UNLESS THEY'RE A WOMAN and know this struggle. Thank you for your video and information on this topic.

Thank you for taking the time to film both the first video and this one. They’re so helpful! I’m currently 38 weeks pregnant and have decided not to go for a vbac. I’ve been having a lot of fear and anxiety even though my OB is quite famous in achieving successful vbacs. Your videos really helped me make a decision. Hugs to you having to go through this! Thank you for sharing your experience. I had same experience of having a uterine rupture I couldn’t risk getting pregnant again, not fair to put the baby or myself in situation like that. Blessed to have my two babies now ❤

I'm so sorry you had to go thru such a terrible experience! I watched that video and I never once thought that you were being selfish or careless choosing a vbac. People can just be so rude and hurtful but thankyou for sharing such a personal experience! I am not sure why your doctors told you that the chances are 1 in 200. I myself have had c-sections and when I wanted to try for a vbac with my 2nd child, I was told 1 in 100. I read books and they all say about 1 in 100.

Watching your birth story video, I dont know if I can risk doing a vbac. Yes the risk is low, but if you do end up being the 1-12% it can really go wrong. Im so sorry you went through this, people need to see the reality of what can go wrong if it does go wrong. Thank you for being so transparent... I needed to see your videos.

You have to remember hon, she pushed for over two hours. The epidural causing these long sessions of pushing could be the problem. I had a C-section, vbac, C-section, vbac, C-section. In my v-backs no epidural, baby born quickly through pushing, minutes not hours. Pitocin is dangerous for regular births because it overworks the uterus no difference between pushing for long periods of time. The uterus works harder during pushing, back to back contractions and more intense no different than pitocin. So that could have been the reason. Either way God is in control, whatever happens happens. He made her be okay whereas women doing vaginal births with no rupture have died, he made women with repeat c-sections die. You just don't know.

It is unfortunate that this happened to her, but the risks involved with a repeat cesarean are far more. No matter what you choose, it can have a negative outcome. Also, if she was given an epidural, pitocin, or was forced to push, it could have increased her chances for rupture even more. It is always circumstantial. But when it comes down to it, vbac is absolutely safer. Things can happen either way though.

I really hope this doesnt offend you, however Praise the Lord that your baby girl is healthy and you also have a baby boy. God gave you two precious gifts! I guess what i am saying is you have a whole lot to be grateful for and I really hope you focus on the good & not the things you have no control over. I will be praying for you & your family!

Yep. I was recently refered to see a specialist in a big city around 3 hours from where i live despite a similar specialist being right where i live. If i didnt question that decision i would not have been able to see a specialist at all. Because i couldnt get to the 3 hour away appointment. That isnt the first time that my dr has failed to care for me as a whole person and in a way that is appropriate. Far too often i have got the "not my problem" attitude from her when i have had difficulties with accessing care. Thankfully a alied health service is stepping in to source a more appropriate dr and better suited to me care plan. I dont have any local family or close friendships so i often feel alone in accessing health care.

Yes! You really have to question drs and fight for the right care sometimes. Good for you for taking the initiative and finding a better dr!!

You're story is helping me come to a decision about my vbac. Being informed. I've seen several failed vbacs. And, while yours was not a fail, it sadly resulted in your current situation. BECAUSE I would like more children, I am choosing to try for a vbac. I am currently in a "scare" because of my c-section scar. I currently have a anterior placenta and it is low lying. Right next to my scar. I had an mfm tell me before they knew for sure to terminate my pregnancy. That if not I would have to get a hysterotomy because the placenta might be growing into my scar. That, too, is a 1 of 200 diagnosis. Then several weeks of ultrasounds and crying and being depressed, I still don't have a diagnosis, but a different mfm said it is looking like I might not have that placenta problem. That being said, the recovery for my c-section was not great. I could barely walk for more than 10 mins for a good 3 months. And I have a 1 year old who still likes to be picked up. So I am praying that I can have a successful vbac with no complications. And if I need a repeat c-section, I will cross that bridge for recovery when I get there. Thank you for telling your story.

i am a RN nurse, i always suggest a 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinion on complicated cases, if i was an ob/gyn and you were a vbac, i would have looked for uterine rupture as a possibility when you had problems urinating, i am not sure how they would diagnosis uterine rupture, ultra sound, cat scan, laparotomy ? I am so sorry that happened to you, alot of woman when they get older have to get bladder repairs from damage from child birth.

You're right about being your own advocate because they don't really care Sometimes.

Sadly this happens so often. I have seen so many people be brushed off by doctors that don’t actually care to go through all of the steps necessary to fix people’s health problems. It’s very frustrating!

I am sad there is so much pressure to have a natural birth, how ever babies come into the world is beautiful and fabulous! You are the third person I have seen have this happen to, I had 3 c sections…the first one was an emergency c section ….I read the risks and chose them for the next two….people try to shame me for it…

Maybe not share any lack of care..just incase it may affect your situation. Prayers for your wonderful family.

I was especially concerned that there was not an immediate response to your symptoms. I realize I was not there but it s seems obvious that medical care was not addressed in a critical and timely manner. You could have had a very different outcome.

So glad youre not going to risk having another baby. Definitely seems too risky.

I don’t know if you covered this before but I don’t understand how your bladder ruptured and also how your uterus ruptured the way it did and not where your old scar was. I’m contemplating a VBAC after 2 sections but after your original video I’m really thinking another section is the way to go. Lol

Hi Marina. I came across your video when researching uterine rupture. Back in 2016 I too attempted a VBAC with my second son that resulted in uterine rupture. I was told I shouldn’t get pregnant again, but my husband and I accidentally conceived in September. I am terrified. I don’t want to share too much on a public forum, but I just want you to know that your story has helped me not to feel so alone. I’m truly struggling. I want to keep this baby (I discovered during genetic testing he is a little boy), but I am scared that my life is in danger as well as his. I am currently 14 weeks along. I had a sonogram today and everything appears to be healthy but the risks are still high. If you are up for it, I was hoping we may be able to talk more. If I continue this pregnancy, there is a chance I may need a hysterectomy after this. I’d like to give you my email, but I’m not sure how I can give it to you without providing it to the public. Overall, thank you for your bravery and openness in sharing your story. I hope I can talk to you more.

Hi everyone! Me and baby are doing well. Currently 34 weeks! I have a scheduled c-section at 36 weeks. It has been scary but it’s almost over. Your after care, post birth, was not good enough as far as I'm concerned. :( I had a partial hysterectomy at 28,im understanding how you feel.please reach out if needed.

The possibility of uterine rupture is one percent... other things can happen to make a failed vbac.

Hi Marina, thank you for sharing your story! I have no information or whatsoever about vbac and the risks until now. I’m currently 38 weeks and has my csection last year. I will be 15 months apart in attempting a VBAC. I would like to ask how far apart was yours? I’m really nervous as the days are coming closer to delivery and I can’t decide for a related c section or a VBAC since my previous c section delivery was traumatic. Please share your thoughts and how far apart was your c section to your VBAC.

Same here...25 weeks here and I am want to try for a vbac...thats my first choice...there are risks either way and other risks just from being pregnant...just stay positive and do the best you can. The odds are against you having a bad experience so...all the best to you!

You can if they can repair your uterus, but it is extremely high risk and your chances of uterus rupture again are very high. I would never suggest it. In most cases after uterus rupture you would receive a hysterectomy, which means you could not get pregnant again.

That is not it at all. There are risks in any pregnancy, in any delivery. Yes there are risks in a VBAC delivery but there are also risks to having multiple c-sections. This comment is so ignorant. It’s not about being “natural” it’s about being able to make an informed decision about what happens to your own body.
