One-week construction time-lapse with closeups: Week 11 of the Ⓢ-series
Ойын-сауық
Week 11 in the ongoing Ⓢ series, which follows the construction of a new 13-story senior living building in San Francisco. This is a #construction #timelapse with various closeups and "sub-time-lapses" at various speeds, condensing the week of April 13 - 18, 2020, into about 38 minutes.
This week it is mostly all about columns - putting 'em up and filling 'em with concrete. Also some walls and the rebar for walls. The second concrete pumping tower arrives on Friday. On Saturday, I was so honored to see a giant tribute to this channel being assembled. And a few other odds and ends, including a couple of neighbors lounging around.
Set to a potpourri mix of music tracks licensed from Audio Network (in chronological order):
Linked - George Georgia (3334/5)
Pleasure 2 - Paddy Conn (3321/104)
Urban Chase - Raithe Laurence (2914/4)
Rest Is Noise - William Davies, Edward Nutbrown, Charles Nutbrown (2338/2)
Afterglow - Barrie Gledden, Kes Loy, Steve Dymond (1349/1)
To Be Me 3 - Evelyn Glennie, Igor Dvorkin (1193/36)
Ballroom Electroniq - Bob Bradley, Paul Mottram (1601/3)
Famous - Bob Bradley, Steve Dymond, Jonny Firth (2868/1)
Famous 3 - Bob Bradley, Steve Dymond, Jonny Firth (2868/9)
Avenue Of The Stars - Ray Davies (1821/2)

I learned a little bit more about this type of construction. Looking forward to next week.
Thank you for uploding. I like your timelaps construction videos.
I am enjoying this series immensely and look forward to it appearing about lunchtime-ish sunday (New Zealand time) on my IPad. I particularly enjoy the little extras, like the drunks and the Vagrants and the close-ups of the guys dealing with awkward situations. I also enjoy the music.

Hello H C from Scotland, another fascinating, interesting and educational video. Amazed to see so many working at height standing on and attached to the rebar while securing it and dispensing the concrete from the bucket. Well done to two of the men eventually getting the bucket under control. Lots going on. Thanks for sharing and good to see the temperature test taking place but hopefully all will stay safe 😷
Loving your choice of music buddy, keep it coming 🤘🎶🎶🎶🤘😀

Another amazing video for the best construction channel on KZread keep up the great work 👌👍
I don’t envy these guys, setting rebar is tough, heavy, physically demanding work. Balancing on rebar while trying not to twist an ankle or hanging off a wall.
The slow and intense zoom onto the homeless man trying to sleep reminds me of how ridiculously high res these cameras are. And also, how much time does the camera operator have to be behind the camera to get these interesting shots when the camera is set to 1 frame per minute?

The best thing I feel you can do to make my subscription worthwhile is don't change a thing the way you've been putting these last few videos together in this particular series has just been perfectly enjoyable to watch the only one thing I guess I could say is I'm more of a longer video kind of person but again other than that these are perfect little videos to watch the past half an hour just to enjoy some free time but I wouldn't change a thing love your channel love what you do keep up the good work
Awesome clip. Especially liked the animation sequence.
So interesting to see the construction methods. Really entertaining thanks :)
Fascinating.
I've been following this construction series since week one, and I'm hooked. Love your captions explaining what is going on as half the time I do not have a clue (I'm the type that needs to read the instructions before using a screwdriver). Other than your incomprehensibly terrible choices for music, your videos are brilliant. Thank you.

Any reason they choose to use that bucket instead of the usual pumps directly from the concrete?
@peon9282
4 жыл бұрын
abum91 Idk how it‘s like in the US, but in Europe, pumps are only used for larger slabs and unusually high wall segements. For small slabs, wall segments and pillars a bucket is used. It‘s just better to dose smaller amounts and a concrete pump is expensive to call, so if there‘s already a tower crane, why not use it?
@constructionwatcher5381
4 жыл бұрын
@@abum91 It's not to save calling out a concrete pump, because you can see on Tuesday's pour they filled the bucket with a pump. It looks to me like they are using the bucket on those small columns because they have better control. The are putting in just a little at a time often.
@user990077
4 жыл бұрын
@@abum91 I think it was a temporary measure as the video shows another concrete pumping tower being installed. I was on a job in the mid 70's where they were installing microwave antennas on mountain tops and they used those buckets to lift concrete to the site. Laborers had to use a conductive stick to ground the bucket before they grabbed it as static charge would build up from the helicopter rotors and the moist air.
I am very interest this instruction the technology that uses this construction

Here's the answer: The Blue Bumps are waterproofing domes that cover a tieback for the below grade walls. The tiebacks tend to move and be tricky to detail with the waterproofing, so the dome allows movement and a quick waterproofing detail.

Hi, one question from germany: Is the usage of highly handmade concrete formwork the usual way in the U.S.? Here in germany we're mainly using system formwork, which ist modular and reusable. Once again a very good video!!
@constructionwatcher5381
4 жыл бұрын
Modular forms are used most commonly in the US too. On this project they are using custom pre-built forms for the square columns, designed to be easily removed and re-used. They are using handmade forms on those unusually shaped walls. It's probably simpler since there are only a couple of them.
@eptyr12

Modular framework is most common. One of a kind walls or an unusual shape wall will get a unique handmade frame.

They are because this is SF and the earthquake requirements make hand made forms a necessity. (my guess) Lots of special sizes. I'm not sure but the one-sided forms in the back are probably intended to be disposable. They might even be permanently embedded.
