    Thanks for checking out this week's video! If you have any questions about my bike setup, feel free to drop them below ⬇ Also, at 0:42 I say 5'11" is 183.3cm, when in reality it is 180.3 👍

    Dude you’re a super nerd I love it. I had that suspension tuning book back in the day and also The Soft Science of Road Racing Motorcycles. It makes a difference being able to understand the concepts, though sometimes the perfect setting doesn’t feel too perfect! In Soft Science they talk about available traction and throttle control; about how important it is to be able to smooth out the bike with the throttle and how most riders overlook that technique. Even though we don’t have a throttle in mtb the same principle applies and you were hinting that saying how to get used to the looser setting of wide open rebound. Important to have lap times to keep you honest!

    Dont forget to run as much dropper post as you can without getting tire rub seat sindrom. This is very crucial for proper dirt jump look while your seat is down 😊

    linkage x3 looks super cool. I've also found myself running ZERO damping on my rocky mountain altitude. I'm starting to add a few clicks of rebound damping back in but still way faster than what fox recommends

    4 months in on an HD6, with Fox front and rear. I like the bike and I am happy, but I do not feel like I have the suspension dialed in yet. Interesting video.

    Loving the suspension updates and hearing what you've learned. I am also a coil convert for all of my riding, especially since I don't do huge hits like the freeride lines you do. I have also fallen into the ultra fast rebound rabbit hole. I fell in love with faster rebound when I dropped a spring rate and dramatically upped my compression damping. Once I matched my fork settings, the bike transformed. The grip and composure is incredible. I feel like more and more I value adjustable suspension so that I don't have to rely purely on my spring rate to tune the ride. The only downside is I have to balance how fast my rebound is so that big compressions don't double bounce me. I am curious to hear what you learn down the road and I will have to pick up that book you recommended. Cheers!

    Yeah zero rebound is perfect for techt trails. I've found that getting rid of any rebound helps the bike and wheels keep in contact with the trail better than a few clicks towards a slower setting; the goal of suspension setting is just that anyway. So yeah, in some cases rebound isn't needed nor recommended anyway!

    I’m riding a Ripmo, and haven’t messed too much with suspension. I’ve done some work on suspension settings with my dirt bike, so considering I have the same DW link I may try to increase rebound and see how it feels. 🤙🏻

    Just out of curiosity what are the benefits of running thicker grips and why did you choose them?

  • @PeterJamison

    @PeterJamison

    5 күн бұрын

    A thicker grip has a tad bit more cushion due to the greater amount of rubber, and I find that it allows you to hold onto the bar slightly looser. What those factors lead to is reduced arm pump in opinion and experience. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    Any further feedback about that b-tension adjustment? I am curious to try it but I’d probably also need to shorten my chain. Any beta you can provide before I bust out the chain breaker would be awesome!

  • @PeterJamison

    To be honest, right when I set up my shifting with this method of b tension adjustment I rode around the neighborhood and was so stoked on it - that said, I haven't really thought about it since 😂 I am building a new bike tomorrow and am going to setup that bike with the standard b tension setting and compare the two. That was a long winded way of saying: it has been cool to try, but don't think it is a complete game changer. Hope this helps!
