The Flying Porcupine! 50 years ago, I was given a bit of an engine from a Sunderland sunk in Plymouth Sound. One raid was in daylight. a single Ju 88, I think, that came in low, rose up over Staddon Heights, then turned to port over the sound, and wreaked havoc among the Sunderland, before flying low over Plymouth Breakwater, and back to France. / My family supplied 4.5 million tons of limestone to build Plymouth Breakwater from 1812-1841, and many of the finer houses, bridges, docks, etc, were out cut stone, which was shipped as far as Malaya in our own ship. /

Looks like you wrote a poem called the flying porcupine.

@@geordiedog1749 One chunk of info on each line makes writing faster and easier, and makes understanding for the reader faster and easier. It usually means far shorter sentences, makes redrafting very easy, though rarely required. Saves time all round. /

What the Ju-88s trying the bomb - the report sounded like they were trying to bomb the Sunderland - did that sort of thing happen?

Yes, it appears that this was a tactic used at this stage of the war. These variants of Ju 88 would have had minimal forward firing armament.
