    That's not actually the speed of light you're seeing. That's the time it takes the flash to heat up, emit light, then rapidly cool down. Light travels at approximately 300,000km per second. So even at 82,000 frames per second, it travels 146 meters per frame!

    Uh duh… beyond some particles that we’ve just discovered and can barely understand or measure (including the electron,) light is the fastest thing that we know of. We can’t do anything faster than light. Even colliding atoms travel slower than light.

  • @davidgustavsson4000

    @davidgustavsson4000

    I'm an atomic physicist, my subject is the Slow light effect. We can slow down light pulses by 100 000 times in our lab, meaning they "only" move at 3000 m/s. That is actually *slower* than geostationary orbit. And enough that we can see the delay of a light pulse moving through our 2 cm crystal on an oscilloscope (as it arrives about 6 μs late).

  • @davidgustavsson4000

    @davidgustavsson4000

    Жыл бұрын

    @@saucenado4844 it is, however, the one time in the video where we could *measure* the light speed. All the other examples would look the same with much slower light (the light would just arrive at the video camera later, but in the same order), but the camera flash reveals that light moves along the hypotenuse from the flash to the video camera in the very same frame as it moves to the glass, bounces off it and reaches the video camera. This puts a lower bound on the speed of light.

    I loved the bubble at 2:42. It looked like an eye. The already popped part looked like the iris and the still intact partial circle looked like the lens. But the best was probably the periodic returns to poor Dan's smooshed face. 🤣

    I loved the bird flying most I think... such wonder and majesty in every movement... the mastery of the feathers and how each one is so amazing... it's like watching a cat jump in super slow motion... or a dog catch something... where you can see each muscle movement... each thing one by one moving to complete the task... love that stuff. Also liked the grinder... and the chainsaw... would like to see more things you wouldn't normally consider...

    Dan, that was the most epic golf swing I have ever seen in my 51 years of life!🙌🏼😎👍🏼👍🏼 The game would be SO much better if everyone took running swings at it!!! 😂

    I love how artistic you make your videos, from the lighting to the choice of sound effects to the backing music, it's absolutely amazing ❤❤ Have you ever filmed something like a sparkler in slowmo? I'd love to see that if you haven't 😁

    @3:45 Photographing water pouring into a glass. I would love to see that at >300k fps under different exposures, and different liquids. I suspect there'd be some serious art in that.

    This one is much better than last years. With you being the only subject, the surreal music, and your stoic expressions it felt lonely. It's better with Dan because it's 2 friends having a blast messing around with a slow mo cam. Looking forward to another one next year!
