It really is. Any team can win on any given day. Once you make the playoffs you have a chance at the cup. So much parity in the league. Also imo the NHL has the best playoffs out of all the sports.

Knight of Dogma nah man, they have to be a contender within the next 2 years at least, so I think they win in 3-5. So yeah 2021 maybe but don't be surprised if it's earlier. Btw, idk if you've noticed, but the old guys are getting older, and the young guys that are coming in are on a whole nother level of hockey. The generation started with Ovi, Crosby, Eric Staal. These guys started this new generation of hockey players, and now we're seeing Aaron Ekblad, Sean Couterier, Nick Cousins, Max Domi, Connor "The Game-Changer" McDavid, Auston Matthews, Jack Eichel, Will Nylander, Mitch Marner, etc. The Leafs kids, and there are a lot of kids, are NHL caliber and I think just about as good as other NHL players. Brendan Leipsic, Freddy Gauthier, Andrew Nielsen, Kasperi Kapanen, just to name a few. Those kids are all gonna get called up in the next couple months and they're going to tear this league apart because of how skilled they are. Are they probably gonna lack defensively? Yeah. Do people fault players like Ovi for not trying hard enough defensively? Yeah probably. At the end of the day, when he scores 50+ goals a season, does it really matter? Not really. 5 seconds before these kids get the puck you should be backing up on D because they second they have it you are not catching them with it. Mitch Marner had Michael Matheson, big tough Florida defender on his back, during his breakaway goal at the ACC and he deked Reimer out and buried it. There's so much more where it came from, and it's not just Marner, or Nylander, or Matthews. I'm telling you man, you will blink and the Leafs will be in the race for the President's Trophy in just a few seasons. They won't just be a team to beat, they will be THE team to beat.

Jim Bobson yes you have Carey price, the best goalie in the world but look what happened when he didn't play one game. A 10-0 loss. This Montreal team is almost no different from last year's team, sub in Weber for Subban, shaw for Eller, and add Radulov. They still don't have enough goal scoring to combat losing price, if he needs a break or goes down on injury, they're screwed.

They could've been a playoff contender last season if Smith stayed healthy. There is no reason this team can't make the playoffs except for its defense. While yes, that obviously makes for a huge portion of the team, if the defense cleans up a bit (it's not even like we have a bad defensive core) there is no reason why the Coyotes can't be a playoff team.

You're right about the Minnesota Wild. A lot of us see a huge change in the team including Parise and Suter, but also take in Staal, Niederreiter, Koivu, Granlund, and many others that are also having a huge impact on it. I feel like the Minnesota Wild actually has a chance to get through the finals. It is the new era for us.

Pens didn't lose ANYONE except Ben Lovejoy and the oft injured Beau Bennett. They aren't coming back with the core, just the whole damn gang.

Hi, TPS Crew, my friends and I love your NHL related KZread videos, but the problem is a couple of my friends are Hard of Hearing or Deaf and since the videos have voice overs they can't lipread. Most of the time I use ASL when we watch a video but I'm not very familiar with sports terms so it's pretty slow going for all of us. I was wondering if it were possible for you guys to enable to the community closed captions? I would caption the whole video(I've done it for others that have it enabled) and then it gets sent to you guys for approval. TPS has great content and it would be awesome if me and my friends could enjoy your videos the same way we do with a game, seeing(and in my case hearing) things at the same time as each other. As it currently stands it's me hearing it, reacting, and then having to pause the video and Sign. It would mean a lot to my friends if I could do this. Thanks so much!

Leafs reason should have been talent. Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and Mitch Marner are all in top 5 rookie scoring. Kadri, JVR, and Bozak have all had great starts to the season. We have a dangerous 4th line with Ben Smith and Nikita Soshnikov, and Matt Martin looks like he's due for a few goals this year. Our defence is stingy and star studded with guys like Morgan Reilly, Nikita Zaitsev, and Jake Gardiner, plus Frankie Corrado who we still haven't called up. And we have some great prospects down in the Marlies System.

I know you're gonna do a flipped version of it but while we wait here are some suggestions: ANAHEIM: Age: The 3 Captains are all past 30 and will not be getting any better, while it might be enough to get them to the playoffs, don't much more from these Veterans. BOSTON: Claude Julien: in 2016 the Bruins collapsed for the 2nd year in a row late in the year to miss the playoffs. However they surprised many by deciding to not fire head coach Claude Julien. If Julien can't keep his team together for the 3rd straight year, expect him to be out of a job and the Bruins to be out of the playoffs. CHICAGO: Dynasty starting to fall: The Hawks are loaded with Talent from top to bottom but Duncan Kieth, Marian Hossa, Brent Seabrook, and Corey Crawford are all past 30 with stars Kane and Toews quickly approaching it. It may not happen soon, but expect the sun to set on the Blackhawks empire in the near future. DALLAS: Lack of Defense: The Stars have arguably the NHL's best offense with the unstoppable pair of Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin. However they lack many stars and other solid players on the defense side. Teams rarely win championships relying solely on a fantastic offense alone. Dallas will have to fix up the holes on the defensive side to really content for the Cup. EDMONTON: Not Ready Yet: The Oilers are the NHL's next rising threat with young future superstars in Conner McDavid, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Leon Draisaitl. However they aren't quite at the level to be serious cup contenders yet. The future is bright as can be for Edmonton but don't expect them to be a threat for at least another year. They'll play good hockey this year but it might not be enough to compete with the other better teams WASHINGTON: Lack of Playoff success: The Capitals have been a powerhouse in the East for many years now and almost always see themselves in the playoffs. And every year they find themselves failing to make it to the Stanley Cup Final. While they look poised to make yet another return to the playoffs, why will this year be any different?
