I use a few mods for Slay the Spire. All of them are Quality-of-Life improvements and do not have any effect on the gameplay. Here are all of the mods I have active:
Slay the Relics Exporter, used for the live stream: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Relic Stats, to keep track of how many times the relic effects happened: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
UI Sliders, to reposition the Discard and Exhaust piles, so that they are not hidden behind the camera: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Run History Plus, giving us more info in the Run Summary screen about the run: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Map Marks, for path highlighting - here, typically, Green means an easy, intended path, and Orange or Red means a harder path that I might take if I get good rewards: github.com/casey-c/mapmarks
Even though I do not use it, I recommend Minty Spire for people looking for various Quality-of-Life improvements: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...

    As someone previously stated, it would be great if you added some "X Wins in a row" to the tittle or the footage itself. I, personally, would be thankful if you were to do it 🥺

    7:45 Interesting how much thought was put into not picking second wind! With hexaghost coming up and the demonform potentially being a dud, the second wind seems like a no brainer for value!

    for anyone wondering, Molten Egg (actually all 3 egg relics) specifies that it can only upgrade un-upgraded cards. thus the upgrade on Astrolabe applies first, then Molten Egg sees that it's already upgraded and does nothing. bonus, since it appeared in the video: Apotheosis works on Searing Blow because Apotheosis asks "can this card be upgraded", and for Searing blow the answer is always "yes". as opposed to asking "Is this card already upgraded", which would *prevent* it from working with Searing Blow that's already upgraded, like how Molten Egg works. source is i decompiled the game

    Fixing that interaction would also allow Molten Egg to upgrade Searing Blow if it randomly dropped an upgraded version. Which I think would be a really fun change anyway

    It feels like molten egg SHOULD upgrade the Searing Blow again if it's generated by Astrolabe. That genuinely feels like an oversight by the developers.

  • @ze0dexic

    @ze0dexic

    the reason it doesnt is Molten Egg (actually, all 3 egg relics) only upgrades un-upgraded cards, so there's nothing to "fix". it's on purpose. Astrolabe applies the upgrade first because card is generated as a transformed card, and Molten Egg only upgrades a card when it either appears in a card reward (shops count as a card reward in this case) or is added to your deck. i.e. Astrolabe generates a card that is already upgraded, it is added to your deck, and only then is Molten Egg able to interact with it, at which point it sees that it's already upgraded edit: this is not speculation, i decompiled the game and verified all of this

    @@ze0dexic don't need the long winded explanation of what you 'think' is happening. Because it's irrelevant. Searing Blow is a unique card, with a unique mechanic of allowing multiple upgrades. There is no good reason that it shouldn't get 2 upgrades from this interaction. Literally the only reason it doesn't is BECAUSE it is unique, and the devs never programmed a special exception to check for its unique conditions. It feels like a dev oversight as I said. Nothing more, nothing less. The wording on how Molten Egg works even should work with the Astrolabe just based on grammar alone. It simply says when a card is added to your deck it upgrades it. It doesn't say anything about excluding already upgraded cards, that is just an inherent fact of the game mechanics of cards normally not being upgraded multiple times. Molten Egg's wording implies that when a card is added to the deck it should just automatically upgrade it, not that it should check if it were already upgraded or not.

    Astrolabe when you are already up to 21 cards is not great, and it wasn't great. One way to look at this is that Busted Crown makes two of your relics worse, but the other way to look at this is that you have two relics that mitigate the downside of Busted Crown. I'm quite certain I would have never survived making that Astrolabe pick.

  • @thekilla1234

    He's talked about Busted Crown many times before and why Prayer Wheel and Question Card don't mitigate the downside of Busted Crown. Seeing 2 or 4 less cards per combat is just such an egregious downside in a game where card synergies can just instantly win a run. I don't quite understand how having 21 cards affects the Astrolabe choice. Replacing 3 starter cards with any 3 upgraded cards will be the same no matter how many cards you have in your deck. I'm guessing it's because a larger deck means the upgrades will be a smaller percentage of your deck? I'm not really sure. You don't pick Astrolabe for the upgrades, you pick it to replace 3 starter cards with better cards. Worst case you get less than desirable cards and remove them all, which you would have done anyway without the Astrolabe because you don't want Strikes in your deck. You almost always get at least 1 card that is usable (Twin Strike in this case), and most of the time you will still remove the remaining starter cards you have instead of the bad Astrolable cards, because starter cards are just that garbage. This was a below average Astrolable, but saying this is worse than losing 4 cards per combat for 2 entire acts is madness.

  • @celebrim1

    @celebrim1

    @@thekilla1234 "I don't quite understand how having 21 cards affects the Astrolabe choice." Because the more cards you have in your deck the less valuable it is to remove a starter card and the less valuable it is to have an upgrade. How valuable a card is depends on how many times you see it during a particular combat. If you have say 15 cards in your deck, then in a 4-6 round combat you will draw that card at least twice - probably more with card draw. But if you have 30 cards in your deck you might see it once. Replacing 3 cards in a 15 card deck with upgraded cards drastically improves your draws. Replacing 3 cards in a 30 card deck with upgraded cards only helps a little. "Worst case you get less than desirable cards and remove them all, which you would have done anyway without the Astrolabe because you don't want Strikes in your deck." But you have to include the opportunity cost. In the worst case you not only have to remove the cards, but you lost the benefits of some other pick. In this case, that Astrolabe nearly killed him. It was the wrong pick. And yes, I know what his logic is but in this case his hard and fast rule in his head nearly cost him this game.

    Corruption just seems too good, tbh. Most of your Ironclad runs includes it. It would be interesting with other ways of scaling block on Ironclad, so you wouldn't "have" to pick Corruption every time it shows up.
