@TasteForDisaster The skunk-strip is glued in after the truss-rod is in, the skunk-strip is clamped to keep the truss-rod tight to the routed channel, but not too tight mind you. Bill

what type of saw did u use to cut the skunk strip so clean? i am worried about the curved tops and bottoms getting mangled by a jigsaw and not looking as smooth and round as yours. great video btw thanks

Good morning. I would have cut the blank then used an edge sander to clean it up or use a router to surface it to width. Then draw my arc and use bandsaw then sand to line. Thrn do the ends and fit it.

I don't have my drawings for this process. I believe I took a 1 to 1 print of the telecaster neck and made my jigs from that

Hi Bill. Thanks so much for your videos. You have become my only true source for guitar building. I'm just about to route the truss rod channel, I watched your vid on how to make my own truss rod. So I have a 3/16 round bar, but this video, you used a 1/4 router bit. Does that mean that you are using a 1/4 truss rod? I can't seem to find a 3/16 round nose bit??? Thanks in advance for your help.

@mrbano25 If it has the plug in the headstock you will need to remove it and remove it out from the headstock end. Bill

I relied on a pdf drawing which I printed out 1:1 scale and made my side rails from that.

@RuecianG I guess after you've been around woodworking and guitars long enough it starts to become second nature. Bill

can't understand why this is too thick here at 1:04 is this the same bit for the hole down in the neck or what ?

Yes the channel is 1/4" and the rod is 3/16" leaving you a bit of room for play.
