@@KiraAotsuki Actually the runes are Germanic as the text is Elder Futhark. Unfortunately, there isn't a direct translation of them. If you tried to translate the runes, you'd just get more or less how the sentence is said phonetically.

I have researched this a bit, and to my knowledge they are meant to be vocables - like Do Re Mi Fa etc.. Gah stands for Gift Odin Air, Zan is Protection Odin Necessity, Tak is for Victory Odin Knowledge, Tat is for Victory Odin Victory, Brak is Birth Wheel Odin - all deriving from Elder Futhark, runes of Norse.

@@NekoinaBox2000 Yeah. I mean... I don't think she'd be that predatory either. But I don't think they'd just be paying her. It's be for extra studio time, sound equipment staff etc. So maybe they just couldn't afford to dub the songs officially... or they didn't have the rights to cover the songs in english. Licencing agreements are just really tricky to navigate. Considering the time and money to invest in all this... it was probably easier for them to just slap subtitles on for the songs. The studio probably didn't have enough time even if amalee oferred to do it for free. It wasn't like in film gold where there was one grand song at the begininng. This one has 6 full songs. Those take time.

@@Gokut0 Yeah, I doubt they could find another American artist who could sing these songs as well as Amalee and still be in character for Uta.

What makes this song scary is that it was sung only by free will when Uta had truly become unhinged and lost most of her reason from the lack of sleep and constantly having her version of bringing peace denied over and over. The Death Music influenced her unstable mind into unleashing it. It's also sad, in that the lyrics imply a pain held deep inside for a long time is being unleashed. And pain can wash over a radius depending on its strength. Just look at what the pain of Ultron nearly did to the world. In the end some are broken and lashing out in confusion.

You did amazing in Film Red AmaLee!!! You portrayed Utas voice perfectly and I am so glad your pronounced the words in this song properly "ᚷᚨᚺ ᛉᚨᚾ ᛏᚨᚲ ᚷᚨᚺ ᛉᚨᚾ ᛏᚨᛏ ᛏᚨᛏ ᛒᚱᚨᚲ" translates to "GAH ZAN TAK GAH ZAN TAT TAT BRAK" but most people who make covers say "gonna take take breake" really emphasising the e sound when there isnt supposed to be one on 'tak'.

Its an Elder Futhark runic chant, chants don't really have translations but these words "translated" ramble on about different things to call gods and white trees (random nonsense) BUT, if you reverse the lyrics and translate them into german, Swedish, Hungarian and basque you get "Karb (person name?) Kat (Another person?) {TATTAT} Burgurlar/pirate {NAZHAG} Meeting {KIEG} Burning {NOGEN} Somebody {HAL EZZET} Hells {SAHPHAN} Fighting" TLDR; No, its not supposed to have a translation. Its a chant. Theorized translation is "Pirates burning someone, hells fighting"

Ama's voice is so amazingly versatile. I love her growls and she doesn't show them off very often in her covers

I didnt realize the opening lines of tot musica werent even japanese, but in hindsite that makes a lot of sense for some ancient evil music. Ama hit it so well too

This English cover is freaking amazing! This is my favorite track on the OST by a large margin. You absolutely crushed this! (Just make sure to take care of your voice). I'm sure there were contract agreements in play and whatnot for Ado but CR and Toei missed out big time on having you do a complete English set for the OST. It would've been so cool to see and would've really raised the bar for the dubbed version. I'm usually a sub enjoyer but that would've really elevated the entire experience for the dub watchers. Great job as always Amalee! (Or was this Monarch..... this sounds like a song Monarch would sing... 🤔)

@@johnnysasaki The English dub is likely their second largest money maker. Ado was also recently signed by an American label. It's highly likely that Ado's original versions were left in because her label(s) are trying to increase her exposure and popularity to the English speaking community. It may have even been contractually required during the process of signing Ado as Uta's voice. They do weird stuff like that sometimes to promote people. Regardless... it's still a big missed opportunity cuz Amalee would've knocked it out of the park for sure.

I'm actually very impressed with those growls that you did. That's the most intimidating thing to replicate with Ado songs in my opinion, but you did great! Very well done, I'm sure she'd approve as well.

Seeing how well someone can handle Ado's growls are some of my favorite things to watch out for on covers of her songs, and yeah, AmaLee does a great job with 'em here.

I keep returning to this version over and over again. Both versions leave me absolutely breathless but this version....AmaLee this year has been one of the most challenging for me in a long long time. And your voice, the impact, the passion and strength that it expresses leaves me feeling released. It's as if all that I have experienced this year is being poured out through the raw delivery of the lyrics. Thank you for this. This song speaks for me especially in the moments when I don't even understand my own voice

@@poof9327 Yep. She did her absolute best but anyone with at least decent ears can tell Ado is on a different level; the song was made for her to perform after all. Plus this cover has no nuance or sense of progression/storytelling compared to the original. Between the vocals and the arrangement they made it sound like something out of an Evanescence album rather than something that shows up in the context of a movie. (For the record, I love both AmaLee and Evanescence lol)

@@TheElectrikCow "Fuckton of autotune" is an easy way to tell you're not very knowledgable about music production and autotune itself. It's true Ado and AmaLee have different singing voices, and there are not many singers who are as versatile and skilled as Ado. But you don't need to sing like Ado to hit those notes... All studio recordings are put through at least slight pitch correction nowadays, even Ado's.

Is it a trend nowadays to talk about whatever without actually knowing about the subject ? Do some of you think that because someone can growl/scream it means they are better than anyone else ? Ado is extremely talented, just like Amanda who's been singing far longer than her and thus has more experience. They have different techniques and are very good singers in their own styles. Amanda did very good with this cover, singing it her OWN way while still retaining the screamy side of the original.

.....So much death metal vibes especially from the beginning bit. Felt a lot of energy from the lyrics and the beat to where I was THIS close to head bop. Amazingly well done as always Amalee!

The first time I ever heard this song I felt like it would go great with Monarchs story. Then I saw you were voicing uta and figured it was fate. Hearing you sing the song has brought it all back full circle for me.

Here I am in silence enjoying the music, remembering when I used to heard Ama's cover music. Years later I rediscover her as Monarch but then I was curious to search some recent cover and I'm once again in awe. She's just amazing.

honestly no one will ever be able to match ados's voice like her voice is so unreal and shes like one of my #1 favs but honestly this is so good to, i dont think we could ever recreate the song but this is amazing too, ado is truly a force to behold

You did such an amazing job here. I got the same chills hearing this as I do when I listen to Ado sing it. I was a little worried before I clicked on it that you might not hit the same almost screaming rasp, but you really nailed it. I really really hope you cover the other songs from the film.

I still don't get why they didn't use the songs in the dub version. Apparently other countries dubbed it.

I knew the lyrics would remain almost unchanged. Like, when I was listening to the song for the billionth time, I noticed that almost every syllable matched and this would be very easy to sing to in English without changes.

I saw One Piece Film RED in theaters last weekend with my buddies and I fell in love with your performance of Uta, her dub was absolutely perfect and she has already become one of my favorite characters in all One Piece! I couldn't believe it when I saw your name in the credits and loved it even more. Now this song completely translated and done in your amazing voice is absolute perfection and seems like destiny. This is the first person (besides Unnämed) i see who is able to really capture and keep up with ado's energy. Been a fan for a while and if I really enjoyed going to the movie here in France and to listen to Ado songs -she as such a powerful voice_ I've been since really curious to hear an english adaptation of Tot Musica and I'm Invincible and you nailed it !
