For all intent and purposes, Luffy is still a rubber human. He only used his rubber power all like 80% of the story. It's not like the devil fruit was automatically OP. Luffy still had to work insanely hard for it. Him finally unlocking the true potential of his fruit is just bringing that rubber power to its extreme.

Luffy didn't get retroactively op because of the reveal. Up until he awakened is fruit, it really did just make his body rubber. And no, he can't literally do anything that he imagines, it's just that, since he can stretch his body however he wants, he can fight so freely that he can "fight in any way he pleases" and is "only limited by his imagination".

I love Gear 5 myself but I can see what they were talking about. If you had this legendary warrior who became the best above all others using only a pencil or something, it’s a lot more impressive then a legendary warrior who’s pencil is secretly the strongest weapon in the universe. Obviously it doesn’t change Luffy’s competence or skill in the slightest, but I guess it’s just gonna take some getting used to for some

Yokai arent really one specific thing, is a general term for mythological monsters in japanese culture. Things like the Yuki Onna, which Frosslass is based on, but some are also just critters or even more bizzare, like a giant foot that demands you clean it or an umbrella with eyes.

Law power is actually powers related to surgical 'operation' or surgery hence 'Surgeon of Death' and the Ope(ration) Ope no Mi. The 'Room' is technically his operation room.

That's a common misconception. The Hito Hito would not bestow enlightenment if a human ate it. It was a fan translation of the SBS and it was not likely as accurate as the actual statement Oda said. I'm not sure about the actual translation, but it was open enough to interpretation that the mistranslation was understandable.

Oda basically said it enhanses a person's best qualities. A smart person becomes smarter, a strong person becomes stronger and an agile person becomes more agile. Which makes sense with how chopper uses it. But yeah it was pretty vaugely put in the original I can see how it could have been inturpereted that way.

The venom fruit is actually super op. The only reason he gets stomach aches is that he always slathers his food in poison, but since he has immunity to all poisons he only gets a stomach ache.

Pat the reason momonosuke didn’t go younger is because of the difference in life span between us and the world of one piece. Our physical peak is around what you said but in one piece since the characters live longer their physical peak may come later but definitely lasts longer.

Well~ Uta's Sing Sing Fruit is a bit more than "putting people to sleep" since, yes it does put people to sleep, it also traps them in a dream world where the Devil Fruit user is able to manipulate anything in that would but only as long as the user is awake and if the user dies than the people are left in that world forever. Also she can manipulate the sleeping bodies as living puppets and have them attack people.

I used to be on the same page as you about the Nika reveal. And the more I thought about it, the more I realized that Nika is synonymous with freedom which is what Luffy is all about. In the hands of just about any other character in the series, I don't think the fruit would have awakened nor would it have been nearly as effective as with Luffy. From the very beginning of the series, the possibilities of the Gum Gum Fruit were only limited by the user's imagination, and that much has not changed, but with it's awakening, Luffy's imagination is completely unfettered and unhinged. Also, if you go back through the series you'll see a lot of allusions to Luffy being associated to the sun or to dawn. Even the very first arc is called Romance Dawn. Luffy was always meant to be tied to the sun god from the very beginning of the series. Honestly I feel bad for doubting Oda when that reveal first took place.

I mean, gear 5 is still just rubber but at the most extreme. And it's not like he didn't work towards it, plus the gear 5 completely knocks him out as well, so it has more drawbacks as of now than any other forms since none of them has actually fully knocked Luffy out. And it's not like he is invincible, I'm very sure that Blackbeard can still deactivate it with his fruit

Youkai are basically the Fair Folk of Japan. Kitsune and tanuki are both examples of youkai, with one being fox-like (and thus a trickster type with a penchant for disguises) and the other being a raccoon-dog. Also, thank you for using the correct pronouns for Yamato. EDIT: almost forgot to mention two things: Dr. Vegapunk is supposed to be the one to explain how feeding objects Devil Fruits works, but he hasn't said yet. And he's also managed to replicate Devil Fruits currently in use, so Chopper wouldn't have to die to see what a human eating the Human Human Fruit would be like, you'd just have to give Dr. Vegapunk some time and resources.

Fun fact or as I've heard it, Pell was intended to die, but between the shonen jump publication of chapter where he took the bomb away and the chapter he was alive 9/11 happened. Oda didnt want the similiarities of tower and explosion to remind people of a recent world catastrophe

Yeah, the closest we got to something like that is, funnily enough, Luffy’s fruit since it’s based on a god in the One Piece world

Idk why, but I wanna hug Big News Morgans. He just looks fluffy. Also Luffy unlocking Gear 5 is actually cool, because he is literally Rubber Hose. That's the whole point. He defies physics. And it's not like Luffy was immune to death, but also the Nika Fruit has always made him obey the rule of funny. He adds plenty of his crew based on them being funny or interesting, and even him eating the fruit followed the rule of funny, in which Shanks panicked as Luffy casually ate the fruit in spite. Nika having it's own will doesn't mean Luffy wasn't the only one to eat the fruit, the Fruit only really ran from the World Government the whole time. Sure he was prophesized to be JoyBoy, but also JoyBoy failed the first time to bring freedom to everyone. It's not a guaranteed thing. Nika could still realistically fall again, at least in terms of in universe. He still can drown, still can be weak to sea stone, and still has the cutting attack weakness. Plus, the way I see a lot of it, Luffy makes anything rubber now. It's just like an extension of a paramecia and a zoan together. Plus there are four probable God Fruits in total, so it's not like Luffy is the top dog. Stronger Haki can still hurt him, and if Laff Tale is seastone, then what can Luffy do there? I mean, I'm into big bears like Blackbeard but I'm more into Kaido, and Oda is probably not gonna have anyone like Blackbeard anyways cause his appearance isn't his most repelling feature. If his personality is a factor in the Love Love Fruit, it's effectiveness would tank even more. Boa Handcock is Medusa tho.

That's why I like Tekking more than these other youtubers. They don't talk about how and where is the reference came from. Even though Tekking is not Japanese, he knows the reference of most of the information about One Piece's lore.

For the redemption arcs for some of the antagonist if you haven't read the cover stories or sbs from manga volumes you wouldn't know the context large portion of the redemption is in the cover stories and sbs that the anime doesn't cover.

The BIG problem with the Heal Heal Fruit is that it has one of two effects, either a healing effect that is permanent at the cost of the Fruit user's life, or a healing effect that doesn't cost anything for the user, but DOES only last for a few minutes.

Actually Pell (Bird guy in Atabasta) would’ve died. But a day day or so after that chapter, 9/11 happened and Oda figured that he could not let a person die by suiciding with a bomb at the time, hence why he retroactively let him live.

Blackbeards Yami Yami no mi has the ability to suck in the Devil fruit from others which is why he can hurt ace but since the Devil fruit is bound to the user it is temporary unless the user dies then Blackbeard can absorb the fruit into himself gaining the new fruit, He can also grant another person with another Devil fruit by sucking in the fruit from the dead user to the other person.

One thing that makes the chop chop fruit actually really good so far is that Haki infused blades, which seem to be the hard counter to nearly another Logia and Paramecia Fruit users regular attack immunity, don’t work on it. It is so far unknown if this is a Haki technique Buggy Developed or a natural part of the Chop Chop fruit.
