And in both scenarios, there are 3 people being Crucified, Jesus and the 2 prisoners, and Don Flamingo, Don Flamingo, Rocinante, and Homing, in the Bible one prisoner mocks Jesus by telling him to save them to prove he was the Son of God. In OP Homing begs his assailants to at least spare his 2 kids, not only that but in One Piece, the entire Don Quixote family are being tormented for all the sins committed by all the Celestial Dragons. Yeah, there was always a very Christian theme under all the anime esque action and adventure of One Piece that actually made me like quite a lot of the story, knowing about his potential Christian background now makes me like the dude even more. He is the kind of author that C.S. Lewis wanted "More Christians writing good literature."

One Piece helped me improve my relationship with God. Not saying the purpose was to spread God’s word but I saw Christian values in shows like One Piece. Another example is Rock Lee from Naruto taught me to never give up which is what Jesus wants from us because he never gave up for us ❤️. It’s amazing that even in Anime, God can use it to educate use on His word.

I think the reasoning behind Mihawk´s cross imagery along with what you mentioned is that he was introduced as a harbinger of death who would annihilate a fleet of 5000 men out of sheer boredom. For someone who sails in a modified coffin, using weapons in the shape of his unfortunate victims´future tombstones is very fitting. Likewise he has a weird amount of ties to Dracula from general design, the coffin ship, living in a gothic castle, tasting wine all day and sharing an eye shape with all but immortal beings (Imu and Zounesha). While I am no expert I do know that there are a lot of Dracula stories with some sort of religious angle. Why he is Dracula I don´t know but if Kuma carrying a bible can be explained 800 chapters later I don´t think it´s a stretch for this to also make sense once we properly explore Mihawk´s character.

Highly debatable. By basically any definition of religion, Christianity is a religion. Just because it is a unique religion that sets itself apart in significant and transcendent ways, doesn't mean we still don't believe in and worship a supernatual power, have our own sacred texts, have our own rules bestowed onto us by said supernatural power etc.

God is Freedom because God cannot Sin. Freedom is in God's ability to do anything without commiting Sin. God is the representation of "Free" beyond our comprehension of Good and Evil. If we look at this from a OP perspective we can apply this to Luffy. Someone who cannot Sin and wanders the world to become "Pirate King" (Freest Person) gathering his "Friends" to follow thier "Dreams." At every stop on his journey he encounters new "Friends" and liberates them from what he regards as sin. A "Friend" is someone who offers Luffy food and his gift back to everyone is a party. Sounds like a pretty easy buy in to me. So as a fellow human on a trip of theology. It is interesting to look at this story and the relations to Power and Justice to see into the mind of Oda. I think in terms of thier Mythos Luffy = Jesus Bit of a rant and likely hard to read, I just want to finish by saying that this is more complicated and that i am not trying to attack any Belief with this comment just making more conversation. Please leave any Agreements/Disagreements i would be glad to read about your thoughts on Theology/Ideology. 😆

I think "devil fruits" is just work play. One piece flips things like god and devils. It could mean that the "devil fruits" are actually "god fruits" or another possibility is that Oda is sneaking in another meaning. For example "devil" could mean "deva" which means divine, i think. "Deva Fruits"

Because if you paid attention to the story, the Gorosei, the Celestial Dragons, they are the ones that erased an entire century of history and they rewrote whatever was left to make them the good guys. So, it is not far fetched to imagine that the "Devil Fruits" got that name for no reason other than to vilify the people that lost (whoever created the fruits), after all we already got them hiding Gol D. Roger's name from the public by spelling it as Gold Roger as they didn't want the average joe to know that Roger was part of the D. bloodline. Also, reminder, that the world of One Piece is ruled by a powerful elite (Gorosei) that controls all the narrative in that world, that they are all devils in disguise (remember their transportation spell makes them come out from a freakin pentagram, also all their demonic battle forms) and that they all follow a King of the World (who rules it from the shadows), I wonder what Oda meant by that...

Also wanna throw in Gol D Roger's similarity to John the Baptist; being the forerunner to Luffy, preparing the way for him, and baptizing him via inherited will 🧐I've always seen a clear Gnostic influence in One Piece: The whole God-Devil inversion, worship of false gods, the messianic light-bearer motif with "the dawn" (Lucifer is a title linked with Christ in Gnosticism), the malicious corrupted creator, creation as being inherently flawed, Celestial Dragons as fallen angels/archons-- both of whose chiefs represent the planets. Plus *the archons' flooding the world & the great cleansing*, hidden knowledge as the key to salvation, the Cathar Crusade & the Buster Call on Ohara. Hell, Luffy was even called "Lucy" in Dressrosa, the arc he fought a Celestial Dragon/archon. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the relationship between Nefertari D Lilli & Imu parallels to the relationship of Sophia & the Demiurge. Nor would I be surprised if Joyboy has a deep relation to Imu in a Sun/Moon type of duality. I now suspect as well that the Gorosei are some kind of creations of Imu, similar to how the Demiurge created the archons when cast into the void. Gnostics see the archons as ruling a "Kingdom of Darkness", and Sabo calls Mariejois "hell at the very top of the world" Gnosticism can be boiled down to _the liberation of the soul from creation_. In One Piece it's the exact same, but creation refers to what Imu has fashioned the world into. The serpent of Eden is a gnostic savior who giving Adam & Eve divine knowledge, so they can eventually escape the flawed creation. "Devil" fruits also allow people to escape from Imu's creation, providing strength to be like "god" and rebel. I'm not a Gnostic, I took an interest in the theology as a student; Oda being a fellow history nerd probably did the same. IMO it's too uncanny to not be intentional; sorry for the rant, just wanted to give some insight on the god-devil inversion & why I think Gnosticism is a major factor beyond that 🤪

Could be a play on words. “Sun god” sounds like “son god” which could mean “son of God”. Jesus calls himself the son of God and Luffy looks to be inspired by the second coming of Christ. In the context of the actual story, not too sure yet

In One Piece devil fruits are regulated and demonized by the world government, the reason for this is tge fact that Devil Fruits give ordinary citizens the power to resist the WG, so I see the whole dynamic of DF to be symbolic of the 2nd amendment. A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of THE PEOPLE to keep and bare arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.

My theory IMU, devil fruit or not, is a “mara” from mythology. An old “celestial” entity that’s jealous of true gods. Oda might be playing off the lore of Shin Megami Tensei. There’s lots of parallels there. Additionally look at the forms of Mara in mythology and in Shin Megami… The traditional depiction of Mara has similarities to tot musica and the devil king. The Shin Megami version is a “worm” like form with tentacles, which will surely make you laugh. In the traditional depiction, Mara has 5 floating skulls around his neck or head area (elders). Mara in both forms here, rides a massive elephant that is “cursed”(Zunesha). In Norse mythology there is also a creature called “Mara”. This creature causes nightmares, an oppressed feeling, and is defeated by taking its hat…The Spanish word for “sea” is “mar” Thank you I’ll be here all week PS: Mary Geoise = Mara Jo, which means Mara Castle. Just maybe Pangea is based on Himeji Castle, which is said to be inhabited by a yokai that HATES humans…it just keeps going..

One piece is a flip I believe… we need to get more info yet but I believe Oda is apart of the occult. I think he is flipping the script and saying God is the devil or evil and luffy or antichrist is the good guy and wants to bring the world into one piece like one world… but it can also mean the opposite so I do t know yet but so eat makes sense why the straw hat crews are depicted as demons… I don’t know why he would do that unless he trying to make demons like good and angels or people with order bad.. satan wants people to be free or liberated without order or God… but it can also mean that Imu represents devil and the world government is the antichrist reign and religious powers that’s why their flag is a cross.. maybe he is coming at the religious church which Jesus came against too.. they did call Jesus the devil and his disciples were called demons or rebels by the religious leaders that killed Jesus.. so maybe it’s his interpretation of the end times or how the reign of the antichrist will look like… we need Oda to clear this all up

The Celestial Dragons being a powerful elite that follows a very evil figure that rules the world from the shadows says otherwise, if anything Oda is closer to being like CS Lewis and Tolkien, a really well beloved author that used Christian themes to build a story.
