Great game. Been playing his and Age of Fantasy from same people.....Great chance to get the old GW stuff out, without the grief of keeping up-to-date with all the extra GW rules

Totally mate, that is exactly why we are having a crack at it.

Wow. These units are standing right on top of each other before the game begins! Should be a slaughter.

The start really strong, but because they don't shoot, and are not great in combat, they are not quite as bad as they might seem at first.

Definitely a lot easier than 40k

U should check the new rules for 3.2. Completely changed how poison effects units with regen

Yes, we recently realised things have changed a lot over time - sadly we made a few videos before realising this fact and have a real mixed bag of versions per army until we noticed!

@@ModellingforAdvantage no worries, just putting it out there so you guys can get down on the new rules. Especially the rules that have completely altered how some factions handle in fights.

Few comments on the end game banter. With objective markers, although 'by the letter' you can place them pretty much on your deployment zone line, the rulebook does explicitly state you can use common sense and discuss with your opponent if you think something should be played a different way. With this in mind; you could agree a rule somewhat to the effect of 'you can place it anywhere as per the rules, but let's try to have a fair, fun game'. Regarding number of models: I think part of the skill with building an army in OPR is managing the number of units. Alternating units does make action economy part of the game: do you want 2 units of 5 Plague Warriors, or one unit of 10? Board size, the 6x4 is pretty big, especially if you're smaller points (1k is only 5 units max), so can be really hard to get from one objective to another. You could argue that puts strategy in deployment. But like you say, difficult to get ambush units in early if board too small. BTW, I think the 'sticky' objectives are only scored at end of game on who has control of it at end of the game. Not 1 point for each round of control. I wasn't clear how you were scoring those, sorry if that's how you were playing. 🙂

Yeah, we mis-read the objective rules and now know they are all terminal - it made no difference to the actual outcome though.

Well, being in charge distance on turn 1 does limit tactical manoeuvring somewhat! Even so, I much prefer these rules to what I've seen of recent 40K editions, I do want to try an OPR game eventually for that 'buckets of D6s' experience. Mind you, I've not played a game of 40K since Rogue Trader in the 80s so maybe I'd just dig out that rulebook from my collection instead. I do like Xenos Rampant as well, that would work well with the same figure count as you had there.

The last thing you want is a daemon army right on top of you that early. Not tactical enough for me. Games like bolt action etc require much more thought and are more balanced. And this is coming from a chap who played GW games for 30 years. But I’ve turned my back on GW. I try not to be negative , but GW just gets my back up. No disrespect sirs love your content

It’s just how these guys set up. A typical OPR set up exactly like 40k

Being right on top of you is a demon army feature, most armies cannot do this - give it is 4 turns and they don't shoot - without it I am certain they would just straight up lose every time.
