One of the TOP 25 BEACHES in the WORLD! Mount Maunganui Tauranga NEW ZEALAND | 197 Countries, 3 Kids
A big thanks to Apex Car Rentals for supporting our travels. If you’re looking to rent a car in New Zealand visit www.apexrentals.co.nz/
Join us as we explore Tauranga, on the North Island of New Zealand! 🇳🇿
Located in the sunny Bay of Plenty, Tauranga is the fifth most populous city in New Zealand and home to historic sites, beautiful beaches, and NZ’s national jazz festival.
We visited Tauranga on several different occasions, and this video is a collage of our visits.
Mount Maunganui township is one of the best places to get a glimpse of the region’s beautiful, sandy coastline. It’s the perfect place to get away from the hustle of the city and just enjoy the gorgeous nature. And that’s exactly what we did during the first visit.
Those of you who’ve been following us know that we love a great hike, and climbing up Mount Maunganui wasn’t even a challenge. It took us about 40 minutes to reach the summit and the views were worth every step we made!
New Zealand, in general, is absolutely breathtaking. The landscape changes so quickly and each area is more beautiful than the next.
Once we hiked down, we hurried to get some delicious gelato. After all, we had just climbed a mountain and deserved a treat. Am I right?
Then, it was time to check into our Tauranga Home Exchange. We found such a great house - 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, gorgeous views, fully equipped kitchen, cozy living room, Netflix and Disney+ subscriptions, and most importantly, a coffee machine!
Our next destination was downtown Tauranga. The girls were getting ready for a summer camp, so we did some shopping. They went all out! Fortunately, NZ’s op shops really allow that without breaking the bank!
We quickly checked out the beach, which looked totally different from our first visit, and headed back to our Home Exchange. While the girls were sifting through the clothes they got, we enjoyed the beautiful view over a delicious cool drink.
Some Home Exchanges really give us the homey feeling (they are someone’s home after all), especially if there is a well equipped kitchen we can use to cook our favorite meals, like the lasagna we had that evening! It was the kind of place we didn’t want to leave.
We also stopped by Lake Rotoiti to visit our good friends Jenny and Malcolm who helped the girls prepare for Summer Camp and lent them their tent. .
On our way back, we saw the kiwi fruit 🥝 capital of the world statue in Te Puke and tried the one-of-a-kind boysenberry real fruit ice cream.
With only one day left till summer camp, Chantal and Chloe decided to spend some quality time together and go on a walk. Believe it or not, they thought it was a great idea to skip the trail and walk across a muddy bay.
You already guessed it, the worst experience ever!
Luckily, they got out on time and continued along the trail which was so beautiful and much easier to traverse..
Before heading out, we went back to the beach for a walk along the ocean. The weather was nice, people were enjoying the water, and the waves were lovely and perfect for beginner surfers. We can’t wait to return!

Aaaah, I went to Tauranga once and it was an evening trip and we went back on the same day. It was for a house poetry event. Met incredible people from there which was pretty cool. Anyway I remember though that the evening drive view of the place looked lovely. It was also cloudy but there was something special about the place. Your video just confirmed my assumption that it's absolutely beautiful. It's also giving Hamilton vibes. This is great content ❤️ love it.
Thanks for sharing, like you're New Zealand video's.

The two of you going through the marshes reminded me when I was young and getting stuck like that it's all fun yes happy memories.
Boysenberry's are from California. It was a hybrid from the early 20s-30s. They only went to New Zealand in the 80s.
Hey guys glad Tauranga turned it up for yous, and yes been there many times for new years eve summer beach parties it would go off thousands of people from here and people from around the world would flock here to escape their winters, so yes this beach does rank, not sure about the green theme the home owners were looking 4😂😂chloe was hilarious, rugby boys would run in that mangrove mud as part of their training🤣🤣 hope all is well guys, much love🥰

Ah, I noticed someone else mentioned the origin of the name ‘Leisure Island’. It was a water park with water slides and bumper boats in the 1980s, the park was called Leisure Island. The name stuck. It was removed in 1990. Prior to that it was ‘Marineland’ with dolphin shows etc which was built in 1964… and before that, a quarry back in 1911 used to build the railways… and back in the day, a Maori village or pā. Love the video guys!

Hey guys!! Absolutely loved your video! I'm from Oklahoma (have you ever been there?) New Zealand is my favorite country and I've traveled all over it from Stewart Island to Cape Reinga, both coast of both islands. Favorite place of all is the Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk around Lake Waikaremoana on the North Island. You would love it! Anyway, the best part of your video was the mud flats! I had an experience exactly like that in Paihia at the Haumi River where it flows into the ocean. Got STUCK numerous times and the mud was so stinky and smelled like poo. It took a LOT of hard scrubbing to get it off of my hiking boots. Chloe was a trooper though!!

Great watching this take on Tauranga and Mount Maunganui. The Mount itself, the one you climbed, is called Mauao. Mum's side of the family are from Welcome Bay and our marae is there. I spend a lot of time over there throughout the year because of this, and every time we will climb the mount at least once every visit even if its raining because you can always warm up in the hot pools at the base.

Hi Whanau. Tauranga/The Mount are my home towns. ( Currently Live in Wellys ). The Mount isn't what it use to be 30+ years ago... It wasn't unusual on Friday and Saturday nights to see various size groups of people turn up for a bit of a drink and enjoying the music on the grass area and carparks...( Before the Liquor bans came into place up approx about 1km east along Marine Parade ) The cops were fine with it as long as everybody was behaving unless they got a complaint from residents ( which some were already down there enjoying themselves ) about loud music or people playing up. The Mount use to be a hotspot at New Years eve back in those days and you would get people from anywhere in NZ go to The Mount just to spend/ celebrate the incoming New Year . That's Summertime was so good back then . Oh Chloe .....where you and you mum were playing a game of " Stuck in the Mud " 😆.....we just call em an " Estuary " or water inlet . You all are fun to watch....The girls pronunciation was good enough , but here;s a little exercise.....Toe....rrrung...a

Where it was muddy it used to be a lake?
