After my father passed away due to COVID, it really altered my perspective of life. It creeped in and hit close to home more than ever, how mortal we are. And I was living other people's life. I decided on a whim to move to a city I have always wanted to live in, and here I am months later, still broke, but enjoying my life more than I ever have doing projects that really drive my creativity and it's been amazing. Difficult, but much more rich than not doing it.

I'm living in the exact same place as you describe...lots of thinking about death and it's just been a palpable experience. A piece of me died watching both of my grandparents pass and I can tell you right now, that piece of me never came back. I feel like I'm not "living" anymore. I just exist. I love beartooth.....one of my favorite metalcore band ever. Check out As I lay dying - my own grave, another metalcore band which is really interesting.

The Surface is the name of the album this from. They have so many great songs.

If you could see the growth in this bands music over the years you'd be blown away. It's crazy. Lead singer Caleb has completely transformed his life. Hearing him sing this song after the first 4 LPs is crazy

"Dominate" by Beartooth is one of my go to songs to hype me up and put me in a good mood. Hopefully you'll eventually get to that one.

Speaking as someone who lost their Grandma and Grandpa one month apart earlier this year, having someone just not exist anymore is quite the mindfuck. 30+ years of spending time with them all of a sudden isn't ever an option anymore.

Every song off this album is good. You should listen Might Love Myself.

In the words of Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips, in Do You Realize?? ," everyone you know someday will die. But instead of saying all of your goodbyes, let them know you Realize that life goes fast, it's hard to make the good things last, you realize the sun doesn't go down, its just an illusion caused by the world spinning round." He wrote that goin through a lot of issues, one being his dad dying of cancer. Definitely worth checking out. I'm pretty sure they made that the Oklahoma state song. They are from Oklahoma City.

For some reason, I could only think about Foo Fighters "My Hero" while I listened to this.

Knox, i just rewarched this, and i wanted to tell you this is the last track on their new album, but the rest of it would blow you away. Very hightly recommend reacting to it, or more songs from it. And the 4 albums before have tons of epic bangers.

Great take on such a difficult situation. This addresses a fearful and intense human emotion . Humans are , unlike other animals- aware of their own mortality

100% need to react to Riptide, Might Love Myself and Doubt Me I believe Caleb (vocalist) posted on his instagram around the time Riptide was released talking about his sobriety and how good he feels, which is basically what this album is about and it truly is inspiring and ,at least in their videos, visually apparent he is now loving life

I'm still struggling with losing my dad, 2½years ago. We understood each other better than any one else in our lives because I inherited certain mental illnesses, depression, panic disorder, agoraphobia, etc. When he passed, I realized that for basically all my adult life, he'd been my best friend. We talked about everything, constantly at that. He had one song that meant more to him than any other and daddy held a deep passion for music. Kashmir by Led Zeppelin. I suggest reacting to this. It's a song that communicates the journey being the point. They're headed to Kashmir, but that journey across the barren sands? There's no reason you can't enjoy that part. That's the part that's here, the part you're in. It's a beautiful song and beautiful concept.

This band is amazing. His voice is powerfull and wonderfull.

It's great message about time and mortality. We're all going to get there but what do we do in the meantime right? Some people don't have that outgoing, extroverted personality. Or they've been beaten down so much so that they aren't willing to put themselves back out there but doing something is better for you, way more often than not, than doing nothing. Regret and failure hurt but are lessons, stagnation is a drug.
