I've used an L7 spring setup for over 50 years, works great, less complicated, uses less materials and a quicker setup. In a survival situation these things can be critical. Keep up the great videos!

I saw a variation on L7 I think on Dave Canterbury's channel where the trigger line is wrapped once around the L so it also "rolls" out of the 7. Have you used that version / your thoughts?

@@xionix4 Sorry for the slow reply, I have been pushing through a recovery from cancer and not had much time or inclination to KZread. I have not heard of that variation. I will check out the channel you recommended and take a look. I have dozens of rabbits around the house and yards, but as Lily mentioned, many neighborhood cats so I have changed to a pair of Hartz live catch traps. They work good enough when I am hungry for a stew!
It is almost the same as our traditions. Coming from Canada Northern Ontario My Grandfather taught us this method. We don`t use it anymore I guess in survival situations its effective. Our Ancestors taught us Only use it when really needed! Great vid, And love your knife. Take care Lilly :)

Great video! Been watching them from the beginning and recently started watching Vinnessa’s channel. You two are amazing. Thanks 🙂✌️
Thank you for showing us how to tie the constrictor knot it is very much appreciated. Most people demonstrating knots are facing the camera attempting to show how to tie a knot backward for the viewer.
Excellent demonstration. I'm going to attempt to learn that style snare.
As always, another nice demonstration, very informative, and reminding people of safety.
Nice video. Thanks. Its nice when people do a detailed video. Keep up the good job!
Great video Lilly, Thank you for sharing!
I prefer a spring snare that allows the animal to be lifted into the air. This breaks the neck, killing instantly rather than strangling, which is more humane. That may be one reason that African spring snare wasn't included in that survival handbook.
@horstszibulski19

If that spring is strong enough, there is a good chance to break the neck against the Y-part where the string goes up, I guess...

Great job explaining the trap and warnings about its setup. I hope it’s never needed. But better to know everything you can, and not need it. Then need to know and don’t. Thanks! Keep it up. I appreciate everything I’ve learned watching your channel!
Muito legal!!! Você fez um nó "constritor" a partir do nó "volta do fiel"... Mais uma que aprendi... Obrigado!!! (Very cool!!! You made a "constrictor" knot from the "back of the faithful" knot ... Another one I learned ... Thank you !!!)
That was very interesting and a good demonstration of that trap. Thanks.💖

Better to have and not need than need and not have yep
Great training, and great warnings about what can happen. I'm glad you told of the seriousness of using such a trap, and warned that it should only be used in a true survival situation. It should be dismantled and scattered when done trapping or training, so as not to trap a neighbor's pet. I would add that a child's hand or foot would be a bad thing to get caught in the trap also. Thanks for the easy-to-see knot instruction. Really enjoyed this video.
A suggestion: Many branches lose their "Spring" tendencies in an hour or so of being bent. It is quicker, easier and smaller to use a log as an elevated weight with the string tied to it and ran through a branch of a tree. Gravity never goes limp.

That is exactly great advice and I can see it working I have used a door spring and it worked great but the log idea is great thanks 😊 learned something new 😀 👍

Great video Survival Lilly...We love you!!!
Finally, Lilly's back. I miss this kind of your vid
Looking at a diagram in a book and a real world demonstration are two different things. I really appreciate your videos.
Hi Lilly, several weeks ago, you made 2 vids on setting up a new log cabin camp near a small creek. You did a substantial amount of clearing & foundation prep & then the vids stopped. Has that project been put on hold or is it going 2Ba sporadic build over a longer period of time? No doggie 2day? Thanx 4 the snare info, stay healthy!! Ciao:)
Love it.... Great demonstration...
I wake up, i saw that lilly have uploaded a new video. You saved my day! 🖤
Thank you for the proper demonstration
Different and great job. Thank you once again.
Awesome trap and tips hope to see more
You can always claim that hunting with a .22 or even air rifle gets you game quicker, but of course then you would disregard complexity of the tool as well as limitations, such as sight and ammunition. Snares are such a fantastic thing to build, because you can have many of them and they work while you sleep or do other things. The traps in Africa were very hard to spot! Thank you for sharing this, I scribbled it into my survival book! I think it is much easier, more effective and safer than a deadfall.
Hi Lily, great demonstration of what is sure to be very effective. Setting up the snare trap however is only half the solution. It’s just as important to position it properly in a rabbits trail and restrict the path to make sure the animal goes through the snare.
Thanks for the video!
Love you channel. I have an 💡. You an Vannessa from WWBC could maybe do a over nighter 2 or 3 day. Limited items and you can only eat what you forage or catch.
Love watching you .. with clean hands...

If you have any rabbits around, maybe.
Always loved the feeling of soaking wet Doc Martens, I like walking through the creek, them wearing the wet boots home, making all kinds of sounds when full of water, so great..
In a survival situation, you need much more than an effective trap! Proper placement, like on a game trail or as was shown along a gap in a wall where small game would pass, and you need a lot of them! I suspect her guide built that wall, setting it up with those gaps. Lilly saw 200 snares set up in a 2 hour walk! Just like with survival fishing, you need a lot more than 1 hook in the water! To be effective a dozen hooks or more are necessary, and you need to have the fish biting!
This is named a Springle snare trap that Survival Lilly is demonstrating.
I love that you prolly have a base camp .
Thought your knife unremarkable until you sharpened trap points ,holds edge well.
you have the best videos thank you
to find that snare read sas survival hand book by johnny wiseman ,its an older book
I love this channel ❤
Awesome trap thanks for sharing you are awesome
Awesome!
Was this a demonstration for the trap or a commercial for the knife? I'm just teasing, but the army combat knife I had did not cut as well as your knife. I must say I'm impressed by its performance. What is the length of the blade?
Picture hanger wire is good for snares. It's strong, flexible and holds its shape.
Similar to the mojave scissor trap, but seems simpler to make!
Now, you should show what you do to alleviate the effects of poison ivy- which you have been squatting in through this video.
Survival Lily, did you 'survive' the trap construction? The area you chose to build in, was covered in poison ivy. I started itching just watching you build and test. I'm highly allergic to it! Great trap, it provided you with cool drinking water! Sorry, I'm sick with poison ivy! :) Really awesome video. Best regards.

Is that all poisen ivy your setting that trap in?
Check out, Malcolm's channel - JJR Survival. He does all sort of trapping.
Hi Lilly great job USA TN, Prepper 😍🇺🇸👍❤️
I was always frustrated growing up in the suburbs of Los Angeles County. I can never find the right kinds of sticks to make any kind of trap
I have never seen a trap like that my own trigger has it in front of the snare loop horizontal it springs loose pulling a pin so my tension can be really powerful and I use loop score simular to your method mine takes a real grip it works two or more snare loops so no matter which side it's on before and after the trigger it uses two tension bends one pulls the pin and powers the trigger the other pulls the snare loops

The only sticks you’ve ever stopped from coming out are the sticks in the woods
I wonder if you can do the same with a yoyo fishing reel.

hi Lilly great vids, would love to see you on alone tv show ,would you consider going on if asked?
Survivor tip remove shoes and socks when crossing water. Just be weary of sharp objects in the water.
Nice trap..
We are in the ozarks. Will be cooking a hog under ground. The weather finally is nice. 70 during the day and 48 at night 🙃
@Survival Lilly Have you tried applying to be a contestant in ALONE reality tv series?
Muito bom 👍👍👍👍
Nice video You could take your boots out while crossing that river so that to keep them dry
You have to use them in conjunction with rabbit runs, either natural or man made like you saw in the African video. Walls that direct the prey with gaps where the snares go. So there is a bit more to this snare than just the snare itself.
Mantaaaaapppp 👍
Took me like 2 hours to make one but it worked 😂
A good survival strategy would have to consist of trapping and hunting, fishing and gathering. It would take quite a calamity to send us back to the stone age like this, but if it should happen, better to have some skills than not.
That looks enough like poison ivy to make me pick a different spot.
I just found you Lilly!!! Are you squatted in a patch of poison ivy? 😲 Great video!!
Very good

In a genuine survival situation, the legality of a certain skill would come a long way down my list of priorities.
