So hard to pick what self defence scenario is going to happen to base a knife choice off of. I think of something for a bedside blade being along the lines of a tops gladius whereas going for an urban ops scenario I’d like my tops ice dagger or esee4 but if I’m going beyond the urban scenario for a long periods of time I’d like something dual purpose and that would be along the lines of an esee6/cm6. I love my esee blades but the cm6 is my favourite and I’m so dying for a brand new back up blade just in case esee fades away in the next 10-20 years.

Nice advice. I just wish you wouldn't have kept the identity of the blade such a tight-kept secret.

Cold Steel Espada XL, with G10 handles. 7.5 inch blade, with a 9.5 inch long handle, it is a folder, but will fit in the pockets of the jeans I wear. And with the Emerson Wave clone on the back of the knife. I can open it as I pull it from my pocket. Also, a retired Marine, who taught me about knife fighting told me two things. One, in a knife fight reach is the key. Two, both the attacker and defender will get cut. The winner is the one who walks out of the ER. I have been collecting knives since the Mid 80's. And I have lots of big knives. But where I live I cannot open carry a knife with a blade longer then four inches. But the Espada fits in my pocket, and when open it is 17 inches long over all. and with the hold I use, I have about 12 inches of reach. Its a good knife.

@@Revelation1316 I agree, it is a bit short but I actually prefer it over any of my knives that are over 3.5”. I still like my tops cut 4.0 but I leave that one in the truck. . The nighstalker gets my pick mainly because it’s low profile and comfortable to wear, feels great in hand and just looks badass. At it’s current price point it’s hard to beat IMO. You can subscribe to their in stock notifications and they will notify you whenever any of their knives are in stock. This one usually stays in stock for several days before it sells out. I really don’t plan on getting in any knife fights with it and prefer to go directly for my pistol in a self defense situation. Personally I like to train with the Nightstalker primarily as a way to create space in certain situations where I might need an extra second to draw my pistol.

In my opinion the most important aspect of a knife is the material of the steel if I want a cutting board knife then I would look for a stainless steel if I want a survival knife then I would go for the higher end carbon steels You do not want to pry bar may stay in the steel and you do not want to leave a carbon steel out in a wet environment without maintenance. Second importance to me is the thickness of the blade again then blades are meant to be more precise and to be a cutter thick blades are for more of a survival knife

I like carbon springs steels for this application and lower rockwell 55C. They dont break. Then again they may rust if on the body all the time, but not with occasional care.

bold but untrue it all depends on the situation its not ideal its small but it still is a freakin knife depends where you are going and how much knife you need sometimes the presence of any tool is enough... dont make stupid blanket statements

OMG! What’s the name of the knife, and what are the specs? I am becoming more and more afraid to leave the relative safety of my home into today’s volatile climate of political extremists and domestic terrorism. Am I overreacting, or do I have the right to defend myself? I feel a gun, for me, is too dangerous at this time, but I’m not afraid to fight if I’m threatened.

So your lead into this video it says be fit. Well the truth of the matter is that I cannot. I have a back and foot injury. So fit is out of the question. Any other great ideas for men like me who also for want of a better word, want to be dangerous. To be able to defend my wife. I carry a pistol, but because I live next to that shi**y state that does not allow me to carry a firearm, I carry a knife.

I feel your pain. The thing to remember is your mind is the most powerful tool that you have. Without the proper mindset you can be defeated without even starting. I would personally encourage you to focus on what you can do rather than what you can’t because of your injuries. I myself have several injuries that ultimately forced me into a disability retirement. I redirected my mindset to focus only on the positive aspects of what I can do. That’s allowed me to put on 16 lbs of muscle and and drop 18% body fat. Yes it wasn’t easy but everything worth doing is going to have difficulty.

@@nielsentrainingandconsulti339 thanks for the reply. It's very pertinent to my situation. I have spent most of my life a thinish man, fit and capable. Ten years military from age 17 to 28 will do that. Now I am almost disabled and cannot work out/run, I am fat and unfit. But also need to find purpose in this world that I live in. I am 65 and forced into retirement, and cannot see forward right now.

yes crossguards are nice but why? a deep bottom dip is usually enough for a combat knife unless u know ur going somewhere where ur larping or some shit then u need a gun anyway.. if u think ur gonna get attacked or be in range of another weapon u shouldnt be there to begin with and u should have a long range pew pew
