    Absolutely! Anything I can help with. FYI, if you are going to do solar system and moon, you need to stack video, not stills. I think I’ll make a video of the easiest programs to stack with. Anyway, here is the adapter and extension I was talking about. Just look up t-ring adapter for whatever camera you get. This is for the canon T7. It works fine for planets but you max out at 30-60 fps. Keep in mind planets are videoed, not photographed. If you want a great dedicated planetary camera the one most like is the ZWO 224. Runs under 300$ US.

    Sky align is a waste of money in my opinion. If you know the constellations, you don’t need sky align. If you want to track, you need a finder scope with camera setup. You can connect it to the mount.

    The camera I am using there is the canon t7. The camera won’t give magnification, only resolution.. meaning you can use less resolution(using all the pixels on the subject). Personally that scope would only be good for planets, moon,sun so I would go for a zwo asi224. You can pick one up for cheaper than a dslr and it’s specifically designed for solar system objects. The only nebula you would really be able to capture with that scope is Orion. No it does NOT come with any filters. For solar system objects o would just go with a UV/IR cut filter for light pollution. You can get a solar filter (the Mylar type) for about 30$. Hope that helps. Clear Skies!

    Hello, first of all thank you for providing so much information in your comment answers, but suddenly I'm going to take advantage of it too ^^. I bought a 4SE 2-3 years ago, then a Nikon 3300 camera, and to connect the two, the T adapter and the T2 ring. But a problem arises .... When everything is in place on the back of the scope, I am unable to point to the zenith. The camera comes into contact with the base and forces on the motors. But I see that you have an elbow adapter, did you make it yourself or did you buy it? Sorry my english is very bad so it was translated with google translate^^

  • @JonDenver

    @JonDenver

    Жыл бұрын

    I bought a 2 inch 90 degree elbow, however yours should have come with a 1-1/4 inch. You will need the additional adapter from the t2 to the elbow as it needs the back focus. Can I ask why you need to skew to the zenith? On an alt/az mount, they don’t track well that high. I would choose a target lower on the horizon for optimal photography.

    @@JonDenver Thank you for these answers, and I try to tilt it to the zenit especially according to the objects that I try to take a picture. M110 in winters for example rises too high and the camera comes to force against the base of the scope. Still happy that I realized it very quickly.

    Great question! With that focal length you are going to need a 2x barlow. For the eye piece you will probably do bed with a 19mm or 15 at most. Anything more then that and it will be blurry. Too much magnification degrades the quality. To see the Great Red Spot, you need to know what time it is viewable from your location. Typically it’s visible 2 times a night as it rotates every 9 hours. This site will help with that shallowsky.com/jupiter/ Good luck and Clear Skies!

    Honestly it’s not the best scope for deep space but for the money it will work just fine as a starter. Consider a camera that can take long exposure, for this scope keep it under 10 seconds or you will get star bloating. Make sure to get the adapter for whatever camera you get and an extension. Without the extension you will not get focus. Later today I’ll post the links of what I have from Amazon. You have to remember though, dslr cameras have a strong red filter so you will not get nebula with a lot of red. Always start with Orion. It’s the brightest and easiest to photograph.

  • @JonDenver

    11 ай бұрын

    Hi Oscar, it is a great entry level scope. Easy to use and very portable. There are a lot of accessories you can get to customize it. Works well for planetary viewing and lunar photography, some star clusters like Hercules are easily visible and photograph well. The cons are; you will grow out of it very quickly. For just a few hundred more I would go with the 8se(it’s what I bought shortly after). The 6 does not let enough light in so you will not get very detailed views of anything other than the moon. Saturn will be very hard to photograph and will come out blurry. Deep space photography will have bloated stars on the edges and you won’t get more than a 15second exposure without trailing. Collimating is very difficult(as is with any SC) but with practice gets easier. Get “Bob’s Knobs”. They will make it easier. The glass and mirror are hard to maintain and get dirty very easily. Get use to breaking it down and cleaning the glass. Finally, as with all scopes, you have to determine your goal. If you are more into deeps sky photography, go with a refractor type over a reflector. Remember as well, your mount is vital to photography. If you want to get into it, an equatorial mount is essential. Hope that all helps!

Once I get it what filters and eye pieces should I buy also I’ve been looking at the canon eos rebel xsi camera it’s 90 dollars and I’m in a really tight budget. After All that the total should be around 550-650 or around there. I have a laptop but it’s a 2019 chrombook. And I want to take good pictures of stars and stack images. Also I live 2-4 minutes away from my city so what do you recommend?

  • @JonDenver

    @JonDenver

    Жыл бұрын

    Congratulations! For viewing you really only need a 25 and 15 plossl eye pieces and a 2x barlow. It’s easy to get caught up in all sorts of extras but with that scope, anything else will just distort. For filters, just get a moon filter because it gets really bright the fuller it is and will actually hurt your eyes. Don’t fall for all the other filters. It will be a waste of money. For astrophotography a simple SVBONy LPS filter will do just fine, since you are in a bortle 9. Understand though that you will always have light pollution in your pics. That eos will work just fine for what you will be doing. If you want to control the scope and camera with your laptop you will need to download CPWI software from celestron and ASCOM drivers. Remember to download ASCOM BEFORE CPWI. For the camera download backyard eos. ASCOM can be a little confusing but just Google ASCOm for cpwi. I’m posting a video next week showing my ASCOm settings. Oh yea, you will also need a T-ring adapter and extension tube in order to attach the camera to the scope and achieve back focus. For stacking and editing, Deep Sky Stacker for stacking galaxies and nebula, AutoStakkart for planetary and moon stacking. You can do some final edits in GIMP. I finish with my simple iPhone photo editor. All these software are free except for backyard eos. It’s like 35$ hope that all helps. If you have a specific subject, I would be happy to do a video about it. Clear skies!

    If you are using it for photography, it will work just fine, however you have to take into account the alt/az mount. You will only be able to take about 15sec subs without blowing out the stars. The first major upgrade any astrophotographer should do is the mount. That being said, Schmidt optical tubes are really more deigned for planetary. If you want a dedicated deep sky scope, look for a decently priced aprocromatic triplet. SVBony are reasonably priced.

Most start with the ZWO asi224 for 8 SE since it’s best use is for moon/planetary photography. It runs under 300$ and you do need to have it connected to a laptop but you will get some really great shots. Other than that a good dslr will work for a little if everything. • @JonDenver

    @JonDenver

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Kenny! The glass will not crack. I’ve had mine down to 5degrees. It will fog up and ice over though. Simple fix is a dew heater. You will be able to see saturn and Jupiter very well. You won’t see anything but a small dot for Uranus and you won’t see Neptune at all. The ZWO ASI 224 is the best for planets and the moon, which is really what that scope is good for. You will be able to see Orion Nebula without a camera but it will just be a fuzzy grey spot. With a dslr you can do both planets and deep sky. It’s a great way to start. You will be able to capture Orion with a lot of color and almost all of andromeda, but it’s still too much magnification to fit. Andromeda is huge. What you have is a great starter, you can upgrade to an equatorial mount later, which will give you much better results. Good luck!

Reflector scopes such as the Celestron 4,5,6,8 se are ideal for planetary viewing and photography, but not so good for deep space as you get a lot of vinyetting (around the edges) and stars get blown out. Unless you live in a bortle 3 or better area, you will not be able to see very many Nebula or Galaxies. There is no scope that can. You can see Orion Nebula and some cool star clusters, but that’s about it. If you are into deep space then I recommend getting a refractor like the Explore Scientific or Svbony. Make sure it is at least a triplet though. This route can get very expensive with all the filters, cameras, and software needed. My recommendation is to start out with a Celestron 6se for the 800 you have. Lear how to navigate and use the scope, then build from there. Hope that helps. Clear Skies!
