I grew up on "red hots" (what we called them). I've had it boiled and fried and between white bread with mustard and ketchup. I haven't eaten them since childhood. Nice memories. 😊😊

My grandparents are from Alabama. This was my granddad's favorite meal and fried catfish sandwiches and sided with a soda and chips. These sausages are amazing our freezer was stocked. Old school food is the best!

Exactly how i remember eating them. We were just talking about them at work and of course they were talking about Earl's and i told them if i eat them it's going to be them red ones that come linked together and turn your water color. Had them many days for breakfast

Hi Chef. Oh the wonderful childhood memories that these sausages bring back to me. My Grandmother always cooked a big breakfast for my Grandfather, and if me and my cousins stayed overnight, we feasted too!!!! My Grandmother did just like you, boiled some, and then fried some. We loved both😋

I like Hall’s Red Hots . They are made in Chickasaw , Al . I live in Mobile and was raised eating hot links for breakfast and lunch . My grandfather would cook a little bacon, Hall’s smoked sausage and red hots every morning when I was growing up .

Hello chef, you and my brother love those hot links. I've tried to eat them, but they are hot. I had them with a little chili and mustard. My brother always keeps a pack of hot links in the fridge. They look good, but I'm not a person to eat too much spicy or hot food. I like a little heat, but not too much. Yes, you are right that water changes when boiling. Chef Jeff, thanks for another great video. I grew up in the late 60’s and 70’s on the east coast. Never had red hots, as my mom didn’t buy them probably because they were not available there. She made a similar meal using hotdogs. She would cut them crosswise in half and then slice them in half lengthwise and fry them in butter with onions and served on sandwich bread. Delicious. Similar recipe just different areas of the country.

I'm from Louisiana and we LOVED Mrs. Baird's bread back in the day! Chef Jeffery, did yall have Wilson's foods in Texas back in the day? They had weiners bologna, hot links etc the weiners and hot links were red, just those. Soooo good. Anyway, this brings back memories I used to love me a good ole hot link sandwich with mayo and mustard. My husband loves bread and butter pickles, too. Have a blessed day . That's some good eating right there! I have been boiling & frying those babies since I was about 8 or 9 years old, Chef 😄 I don't like mustard on anything, except hot links, grilled brats and sardines.

I was a huge fan of Earl Campbell's hot links but recently the texture has changed in way that i don't care for. I will try the heb brand to see if they are more to my liking. Thanks chef.

Hi Chef Jeffery! Every video I see I know is going to be good, I remember these from a long time ago - going to make some today because it's still (almost) the holiday! I like to boil mine in beer - any beer, cheap beer, doesn't matter. And if you don't drink - don't worry, all the alcohol boils off in the process but the flavors that it imparts to the red hots, hot dogs, brats, etc. is AMAZING. Give it a try!

Where did you buy those buns. At that day old store you go to? No pun intended. I like best on a sliced of bread, and I did have yesterday 😉 It does make a world of difference to char them.
