I think if you add a little handle on the upper piece, you have a perfect artistic toilet. Like, one too perfect to step on, sitting would be ok though!

I think there is way more value in a rustic aesthetic, over the much finer joinery I've seen you do. Rustic (for me) is more beautiful than a precisely carved dove tail. For example. I'm glad the steps owners went for that style. (again, just my opinion)

Wow, it is a stunningly beautiful step & cleverly conceived & produced by a Master Craftsman. I should last for many, many years. It has always impressed me how unbelievably sharp Japanese craftsmen seem to be able to to get their woodworking tools. I like working with my equipment sharp but I can NEVER match Japanese craftsmen & I am also fascinated by the planes used by Japanese carpenters, you pull the plane towards you where we Western people bust our gut pushing a plane. Great video again my friend, Don from South Aust.

Not in Japan. That's why he called it a thrust chisel. Oh and the fact it was created in the Middle East in Babylon kind of gives them the right to call them what they prefer.
