One Man Show - Delivery & Set up of 12x20 Amish Shed

First time I got to watch a delivery, unloading & set up of a large Amish shed in my neighbor's back yard. One man & a truck did it all! 30 minutes to unload and transport to the back yard using a "mule" and then another hour to set it up, etc. Pretty cool stuff & this man was great! The neighbor purchased this shed from local dealer, Carolina Structures - Knightdale, in Knightdale, NC

    The Commandments or (The Law) were given to man to prove to him that they were not humanly possible to obey (thus the need for a Savior). "To love thy neighbor as thy self" happens to be the second greatest command after "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind" (which is the Greatest Command).

    I pursue the entire Ryan's Shed Plans and had the favorite alternatives to make a shed game plan. kzread.infoUgkx28Z8z61iXUVQQPSL3K9UZJw0Hm7ylSiH Using Ryan's Shed Plans alone, the shed itself is phenomenal . I understood all the instructions more correctly with Ryan's Shed Plans. Honestly, this is an extra benefit of Ryan's Shed Plans.

    Hi Shirley, this was definitely cool to watch in person! Since then my beach neighbors asked me to video delivery and set up of their shed. They wanted that since there were 2 issues getting it in their back yard, a tight squeeze between their home and the neighbors deck and then place it between 2 trees. The man used a remote controlled trailer instead of a "mule". You may enjoy watching this one as well, it's titled WILL IT FIT and it's from Nov 2015.

    I bought a 12 x 24 shed. One man showed up at noon and left at 12:45 He brought it in and set it up including leveling in 45 minutes. All I told him was line it up with the front of the house. He said the ground was not level it was on an incline. He said he could level it with the pads that came with the shed or he could do it right if I paid for the extra pads. I said do it right. It costs me $15 for the extra pads. In and out in 45 minutes. That's American know how!

    Hi, glad to share this, I was impressed too! I made another video (per the homeowners request) where the delivery man actually uses his remote controlled trailer to squeeze the shed between 2 homes and then place it between two trees. That video was from Nov 2015 and is titled: Will it fit? Delivery and set up of large shed

    Yeah, it's really awesome to watch a professional at work! Since that delivery I made another video (per request from the homeowner). This one was at the beach on sandy soil. I learned that you can't use the "mule" because the soil is too soft and they will sink. Anyway, in this video the guy used a remote controlled trailer to squeeze the shed between two properties (tight fit) and place it between 2 trees (another tight fit). Here's the link to that one (Will It Fit). You want to grab some popcorn and a cold beverage! kzread.info/dash/bejne/fZyLkpiTnKSbfdY.html

    Pretty cool, method...you mention no permit needed....same here, but now I have someone telling me I need a zoning permit for one I just built. Government always finds a way to tap you for your money....I have a zoning permit for my home I am building and a garage with a 40' container as well, but not for the shed....they never get enough do they? I haven't even put the container or the garage up yet....makes you want to snap sometimes the interference in our lives from government and over a shed no less.

    Hey Earl, It's been a while since you wrote the above, but this may work for you too. In the 70's my boss and I were installing a carport for a customer. Planning dept said it was to close to the neighbors fence since it wasn't portable. We went to Montgomery Wards and got 4 casters and put one on each corner post. Made it "portable".

    Thanks, but not too worried about it, I'll pay the 25 bucks for the zoning fee the guy is after rather than try to skirt it...not worth it, but it's more principle for me in that other neighbors have built without zoning permits or in violation of zoning and gotten variances. I think it's just politics or small town who you know favoritism. It is what it is....I had a zoning permit for my house and a garage and never built the garage....so I figured building a small shed would have been no issue.......I suppose the it could be a who's the boss variable as well. My father is on the planning board and actually going to a meeting tonight I asked him to see if I could also get one of those courtesy variances that was given to the others as well........or to refresh his memory about the garage on my zoning permit to build a home and garage and garage never having been built.....I'll post what he comes back with this evening....likely I'll be cutting a 25 dollar check just to be done with their nonsense.

    +Bigguss D Hi, he certainly is a professional! Since then I had learned that the "mule'" used in this video doesn't do so well on sandy or soft soil. I have watched and recorded another shed delivery and set up but a remote controlled trailer was used. If you liked this one do check out the double dilemma for the remote controlled truck, he had to squeeze it in between two houses to the back yard but then set it up between two trees. It was a nail biter at times and I was really impressed. Here's the link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fZyLkpiTnKSbfdY.html

    Whether or not you need a permit depends on where you live. Always check with your local assessor's office. I briefly lived in one town in my state where they required a permit for a doghouse, a dog run over 6 feet, and even any section of fence longer than 4 feet. If you live in an area that requires a permit and gail to get one, the fees/fines/penalties cand add up to more than the cost of your shed in no time. I've lived in seversl states and some cities/counties start off with as much as a $10,000 fine for failure to obtain a permit and add daily fines and penalties from there. Yes, there are places where a "mobile" shed doesn't require a permit, but better safe than sorry. By the way, some jurisdictions even require you to remove the structure untill the permit is obtained and that is on top of the fines etc that they have already charged. Some places even require you to place an announcement in the local news paper (to allow neighbors and those in your area to speak against your installation for what ever reason like "obstruction of their view") and may also require a surveyor's report be submitted for "flood impact possibilities". Government has gotten out of control!

    I'm not convinced a gravel pad for sheds is the way to go...unless you live in the desert. Over time the gravel rock will clog with sand/dirt, and the wood frame will rot, as the water can no longer drain properly. With piers, your yard can literally flood and the shed is still fine.

  • @rupe53

    @rupe53

    7 жыл бұрын

    The reason to use gravel is that piers are considered a foundation, which means it's no longer portable. You can also spec out the floor area of the shed to be made of 50 year PT so it wont rot within your lifetime. We had a couple built this way and the extra charge for PT was like $300. BTW, an old trick to skirting the zoning rule on piers is to do a dry stack of solid concrete block down below the frost line. With the flat block you always have the option to re-level the shed with shims in a few years if things settle. I've used a floor jack with blocks of wood to spread the load for lifting a corner. Just scratch out some gravel to make room for the jack.

  • @rupe53

    @rupe53

    PT is pressure treated and we got the floor plywood in PT as well. Remember, this is slightly different than posts that go into the ground because they are above ground and don't stay wet.

  • @stressbelden5869

    @stressbelden5869

    thechosendude..... Agree with you fully....100%. Pressure treated lumber is good....but it is not the end all of end alls'. If it stay in ground contact where the soil rarely dries out, it will last maybe 5-6 years. It must be elevated and out of moisture contact from time to time so it can dry.
