Sorry. But this is not locked. To lock it you must change the hands such that the other hand makes a knot. The way you do it is better than just the same knot but it is not secured. The knot can still slide if you just test it ^^ and it is logical too, that if you do your knots just with one end and keep the other always straight… it can slide over the straight line.

Not going to believe this, but in weaving you use a lot of those knots too. Unbelievable

Does it matter if the first two throws are underhand or overhand?
@scrubbedoutmag
Жыл бұрын
No, it doesn’t matter. As long as they’re both the same direction and you keep your post straight and taut, they should slide.

I usually do two throws in the same direction or a surgeons/double overhand knot. My critique of this video is you aren’t crossing the sutures so your knot goes down flat. I always cross the sutures and tie with the hand closest to me so that the knots lie flat. I feel it’s much easier to air knot doing it the way you are showing. But thanks for the video.

Would repeating the same throw have the same effect as a surgeon’s knot?

This is not the same as a surgeons not. To get a surgeons knot you need two consecutive over or underhand throws through the same loop. In this video he does two consecutive throws in the same direction creating a new loop each time. He also doesn’t cross the suture in his hands which allows you to have your knot lay flat. To do this you cross the suture and do an underhand throw first using the suture closest to you to do the throw.

Basically two throws in the same and one in the opposite. Repeating the same throws will end up in some variation of the granny knot.
