I looked up what the song meant and makes so much sense now : They have an on/off relationship. Here, they’re starting to date again. Their friends are probably sick of the constant “break up/get back together” cycle, questioning “will it ever end?”
But the couple are so happy that they don’t care. They feel like they’re flying so high, they’re looking down at the clouds instead of gazing up at them from the ground. In a different perspective, “Looking down on the clouds” could refer to the view from planes that they’re on because they’re following their dreams, or happiness.

@@tegaagbro7202 after i listened to this yesterday i listened to clouds and zayns high notes a lot trying to figure it out because it’s really bugged me and if you listen closely you can tell it isn’t zayn. in the easiest way to describe it when zayn does his high notes his throat sounds open and it doesn’t sound tight or strained but when you listen to the high notes in clouds it sounds tight and strained and it’s a different pitch to zayn it’s higher so you can 100% tell it’s louis’

This song doesn't even need instruments it's still flawless with just them like how

I think it's Zayn at the end, but not while they sing the chorus because it sounds like Louis during the chorus doing the " aahahhhhhh" BTW, I have not been here the whole time, but I've been here quite a long time, like since after their first album came out and before their second album, although I only liked them a little, I started to like them more and more as I listened to them.

I wasn't exactly here from the very beginning and I don't think it matters how long people have been fans, because it doesn't prove anything, and I haven't been here since the very beginning, only a few years. So I don't think it should matter how long people have been fans, it doesn't make anyone a bigger fan than the other. Even if we haven't been here the whole time, we all love the boys and their music and that's all that should matter:-)

Y’all it’s Zayn... the reason it sounds “off” or not like him is because for one, it’s studio, and they usually put voice effects on it, and two, it’s a really high note, so his voice sounds more “strained” and squeaky, for example, it kind of sounds like how he sounds with the Rock Me high note, and sounds almost identical to when zayn sings “in every way-ay-yeah” in Another World at the end.
