Brat Pitt got the Oscar for the supporting lead . Well deserved .. check out his Oscar Speech! I shed real tears and stood and cheered in my living room that night . I was so happy for him . Loved this film so much ..

You can so see why! Cliff (or Clint as I kept calling him) was such an intriguing yet wholesome character, Brad Pitt did a great job! 👏👏👏

Your comment at 31:51 perfectly captures what I feel the whole point of the movie is. You know that you're watching a movie within a movie, but Leo's performance is so good, you momentarily forget that there is a film crew around him and you find yourself in the moment, caught up in the drama of the evil cowboy and the little girl...even though you KNOW it's fake. In that moment, you believe it. Then once Tarantino shows you how the magic of cinema can work, he performs the movie's intended trick and makes you forget that Sharon died, and thereby for the briefest moment brings her back to life with that same magic. It's really quite amazing when you think about it. Great reaction, btw. You guys have a great vibe.

I love the fact that, while he is in the middle of playing a role where he is an actor playing a role, he had to then deliberately act poorly (in the first scene where he overdoes it) and then act really well in the second scene where he nails it. And everybody recognizes it. To be able to moderate his own ability so well at that movie-within-a-movie level in that scene is why DiCaprio is so good.

Totally - really touching end when you realise what actually transpired that night.

Don't know if you guys caught it, but the guy Cliff fights and throws into the side of the car was supposed to be Bruce Lee. There's been a lot of recent stuff about Manson I haven't read, but the version I grew up with was, although they had no legal contract, Charlie felt that the Beach Boys' producer, Terry Melcher, owed him money for a song, so he went to the house looking for him. When he discovered he wasn't living there anymore (back then the average person had no way to find you if you didn't want to be found), he kind of snapped (there was a lot more to it, of course, but I guess that was the catalyst). I love that it's the only time we see Manson in this movie because A: he was a narcissist and egomaniac, and it probably would've pissed him off something fierce, and B: in Tarantino's reality they f up and go to the wrong house anyway. It wasn't my favorite of his films, but I thought it was decent. The last 20 minutes was everything. 😂

Yes ,Cliff refers to him as Kato ,which is a nod to the Pink Panther movies where Burt Kwouk plays Kato inspector Clouseau's Chinese butler/valet .

I was excited to see a younger reactor who knows some of the backstory, and I was amused to see her not “recognize” Charles Manson when he came to the Sharon’s house earlier in the movie looking for the previous owner. That recognition would have enriched the movie for her a little bit.

I found the movie quite overwhelming, and I didn’t know as much as may have been required about the ‘Manson’ story - it was a lot to take in. But when I did put it together later, my mind was blown! This wasn't the first Tarantino movie I saw but it was the first one I saw in theatres. Boy was it a rush walking out of the theatre after that ending. Enjoyed your reaction a lot.

Loved how Pitt's character was that high but (having been a war hero and obviously well-trained) responded instinctively to being attacked.

So as the Beach Boys connection is told... Nov 2017: "In the summer of 1968, a year before Charles Manson orchestrated seven brutal murders, he insinuated himself into a strange relationship with an unlikely source: The Beach Boys. Manson, who died in prison on Sunday at the age of 83, met the band's drummer, Dennis Wilson, after Wilson picked up and drove home two female hitchhikers who happened to be living in Manson's cult, known as his "family." Dianne Lake, a member of the "family" who wasn't involved in the murders, described in a recent memoir how Manson's ability to "captivate" Wilson, a famous musician, went on to "validate more and more" Manson's status as the leader of their cult. "Dennis and Charlie hit it off right away, which is not surprising, given Charlie’s skills at ingratiating himself with strangers," Lake wrote. "Dennis, in no rush to leave, hung out for a while, smoked some pot with Charlie, and listened a bit to Charlie's songs." As The Washington Post notes, days after their first meeting, Manson and the "family" moved into Wilson's home, where they all dropped acid and participated in group sex, before gonorrhea began to spread through the collective. According to Dianne Lake, Wilson provided for the group and even drove them all to see a doctor after the gonorrhea hit. The Manson-Wilson relationship came to an abrupt end as the summer of 1968 came to a close. When Wilson took Manson, an aspiring musician, to record at his studio, Manson had a disagreement with Wilson's producers and ended up pulling a knife on them. The "family" subsequently moved out of Wilson's house, but according to Lake, Manson and Wilson would occasionally still see each other in the year before Manson was arrested for his cult's infamous murders. In September 1968, The Beach Boys even recorded a slightly altered version of Manson's song "Cease to Exist," which they renamed "Never Learn Not to Love." Wilson was the sole songwriting credit on the track. "As long as I live, I'll never talk about that," Wilson told Rolling Stone in 1976 of his relationship with the Manson family. Wilson died in 1983 at the age of 39, after drowning in the waters off of Marina del Rey, California." Nov 2017

Tarantino added so many references in this film knowing few people would recognize them, especially real names such as Edmund "Eddie" O'Brien, Andy MacLaglen, Sergio Corbucci, actress Joanna Pettet (played by Rumor Willis in the film), Manson Family members Squeaky and Clem (the tire-change guy), actor/director Sam Wanamaker (played by Nicholas Hammond, TV's original Spiderman), and others. The book Sharon buys Roman, "Tess of the d'Urbanvilles", was later filmed by him. The hippie girl who sells Cliff the acid-dipped cigarette played BB in "Kill Bill Vol. 2." As someone who lived during that time and is personally familiar with the horror of learning about what happened to Sharon and the others, seeing Tex, Sadie, and Patricia being utterly destroyed at the end is exquisitely satisfying, as is the bittersweet pleasure of watching Sharon and her friends live on.

Yes, the song was 'Cease To Exist' that Charlie Manson gave Dennis. The title was changed to "Hang On To Your Ego'. Charlie was pissed that they recorded it and took credit by changing the title. LOL I am a Big Beach Boy/Brian Wilson fan for decades .Peace. ( PS If you would show more of the movie and less of you both on the screen, we could follow it with you. Italian westerns certainly didn't do Clint Eastwood any harm ,though mostly shot in Spain by Italian director Sergio Leone .The house Sharon and Polanski were living in was owned by Beachboy Dennis Wilson.

Interesting: Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys apparently was briefly a friend of Charles Manson, and Manson wrote "Never Learn Not to Love," which is not a song I remember. Niamh is a reliable source on these things, it seems. Also, after seeing the movie in the cinema and then watching a handful of reactions, this is the first time I saw Mama Cass (of the Mamas and Papas) at the Playboy mansion.

You do get to see Charlie briefly when he comes to the house during the day.

The feet reaction is funny. Does she not know about Quintin lol

This may be Quentin's best film or at least you could make an argument that it surpasses Pulp Fiction.

If you like Brad Pitt films, and want to see another excellent performance of his, you should check out Se7en. It has Morgan Freeman in it as well, and he's always good. And then, as far as Quentin Tarantino films go, you really should check out Kill Bill. It's split into two volumes, but it's just one long film, and it's a masterpiece. Great reaction! Keep it up.

I don’t know that much to be perfectly honest! I’ve had an interest in true crime before, so most of it is just from things I remembered about the story but it may not all be totally accurate 😂

Tarantino is known for his foot fetish, but you would not have liked living in the 60's if you do not like people in bare feet everywhere.

Heys enjoyed the reaction except for one thing. Stay in the two bubbles to either side. When you take up the whole screen in the square it’s annoying because now we can’t see the screen and can’t hear the scene . We can still hear you even if your not in the big square. If you want to know the truth about Manson please read "CHOAS : Charlies Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties" by Tom O'Neill. 90% of the people in this were based on real people. "Lancer" and "The FBI were real tv shows. Timothy Olyphant plays James Stacy Star of Lancer. He a had a very tragic life. The Scene having Olyphant ride off on a Motorcycle is a nod to what happened to him.

With your knowledge of Manson and the others, you should have recognised the name Sharon Tate and known what happened to here. Knowing that adds a whole dark undertone of anticipation to the movie, which is then subverted. Ah! You did know. Just seemed from the edit you didn't.

I feel like this isnt the guys first time watching this film.

FYI there is something not right with the audio. The girls voice echoes and is quieter. Is she sitting next to a wall? A microphone each might be better. Preferably on stands and closer to your mouths. Might fix it. Chick sounds lile she's in the room next door

Not knowing who Bruce Lee is...

One big thing Quentin gets wrong about Bruce Lee in this was Bruce LOVED Cassius Clay / Mohammad Ali. Like, obsesed over him. Would even shadowbox to projected film of Ali. Bruce even stole Ali's "float like a butterfly" dance around the opponent thing. And when asked who would win in a fight, him or Ali, Bruce staight up said "Ali would kill me... hes that fast and twice my size". So this jive of Bruce saying hed make Clay / Ali a cripple, total nonsense.

I would try to make the intro a bit more formulaic. A little more well oiled. 5 min of scattered conversation is a lil too much

I love this movie. But the disrespect on Bruce Lee was unbelievable. That criticism of the movie was 100% warranted

For You it's the worst and that's valid. But in terms of being an absolute masterpiece there is no close second in his films. And I know that's saying a lot. As he knows (and I know) this is his real masterpiece (though Pulp Fiction is the best movie theater going experience I ever had). When I saw Once Upon A Time In Hollywood I enjoyed it but was slightly disappointed and bored but still fully entertained. But I watch it now and pause every shot and ask myself why he chose that shot, the film language, etc. Which I've done for all his movies but for this one it's mind blowing of how great and perfectly made it is. The answers to your questions will be very clear and come immediately even if you haven't studied film. This is exactly the movie he wanted and is almost perfect storytelling, 2nd to only PTA's There Will Be Blood (PTA's Boogie Nights tied for me with Tarantino's Pulp Fiction for best Movie Experience too).

Great observations and insights..you want weird..Tarantino's brilliant Pulp Fiction..

Viewers would appreciate film much more if they were aware of the horrific Manson family murders back then. Sharon Tate and her friends were essentially butchered by those people. Tarantino, as usual, used true historic facts and many accurate details in his films and , in the end, corrects history. Fantastic film. My fav Tarantino film is " Inglorious Basterds," which revises history again. If you haven't reviewed it yet, it is a real good one.
