Once-in-a-generation upgrades near completion on the Loop Line
Ғылым және технология
Over a month’s worth of upgrades to the Loop Line - the NSW Rail Museum’s own heritage railway - are nearing completion.
This once-in-a-generation infrastructure project will help ensure the longevity of the Loop Line to meet growing demand for THNSW’s heritage train experiences.
The works at Thirlmere and Buxton now mark the completion of the first phase of the NSW Government funded Loop Line Upgrade Project, with 14km of track now upgraded between Picton and Buxton.
Special thanks to to Lycopodium, SJM Rail Signalling, Taylor Rail Australia and Sydney Trains, as well as our own track and signals team for bringing this huge project to life.

Can’t wait to see a train visit Colo Vale again
Great to see this work being done ready for the extension to Colo Vale and hopefully one day to Mittagong.
I’m really excited for this let’s go 🎉
I thought the line would be reopened to Mittagong Jct i worked many trains on that track when it was open.
When will the Dombarton link be finished?
That's so exciting, can't wait to visit again.
When will the line open to Colo Vale.
Is there double track to Buxton now? Or just new double track at both ends?

It’s a single track. At both ends there a parallel lines to enable the locomotive to run round the train.
