Onboard South Western Railway (SWR) Bombardier/Alstom Class 701 039 “Arterio” Aventra Electric Multiple Unit on the second day in service as 2U91 and 2U92. Currently running as additional Windsor & ER services and will eventually replace the British Rail Class 455’s EMU’s which is the backbone of SWR’s Suburban Mainline services.
Whilst it retains the commonly used “iron” board seats, the seat design has been enhanced from the Siemens Desiro City Class 707 product where it features a thicker back support and a more sculptured base as seen on the Heathrow Express Class 387’s.
I personally found them to be comfortable particularly for the routes it will serve.
