Not sure if the increase was enough to dissuade the double oniger lists but it’s definitely going to help swing the balance in the right direction. Now, let’s see RR3 with those republic Arquitens

I fear Armada is dead in my area. my local game stores have a tone of x-wing, legion and now shatterpoint stuff, but maybe 1 or 2 Armada items. One of them even went as far as to just shove the Armada ships they did have under a shelf on the floor next to the discounted unwanted items. I actually had to hunt for it. makes me sad as i actually would love to start playing.
Points increase is correct, but could (should?) have been higher. Two missed opportunities for AMG: 1. Tested becomes a unique. 2. Any ignition attack exhausts and must be readied via a con fire token in the same way as the republic SPHAT.
I think both changes were warranted. I honestly think they will still be run a lot, though. The double testbed list is possibly gone now since it is 40pts more expensive, but I think we will still see one being put in lists as those salvo attacks are still powerful. The OSD will still see play, I think, but again, also less. Nerfing ignition attacks may be a good direction, TBH. That said, doing so may hinder the potential design and release of a Malevolence.
I've played a couple of double onager games since the nerf, and... I haven't noticed any change. The double Onager is now a BIT more vulnerable to Rebel Rogue MSU, but other matchups felt identical. They nerfed the wrong thing. The chassis cost needs to go back down (not the whole way, more like halfway), and the Ignition mechanic needs to be reworked.
Nice to know that the game is still getting updated i hope they add more clone wars ships
I personally believe the upgrade should have gotten hit as that is what makes the Onager so dangerous. If it doesn’t have its upgrade. It can not use its special firing arc.

I personally think that onagers are great just because they're special. A simple solution would be to add ignition cards to other ships. Like a starhawk with a movement inhibiting ignition, or a recusant with a small "sniper style"ignition
Only ever went against 1 of them it was painful and they knew how to use it well but did put a dent in the fleet though not good enough. Be interesting to see how it goes with the increase.
Your points increse is insignificant compaired to the power of the onager. Only thing that moves the needle is having to trackdown upgraded cards
It haven’t fixed anything in my opinion. Yeah it’s more expensive yeeey 🎉 tell that to my republic VSD who just got shot at once in the 1st round and got killed. It wasn’t a nerf.. it’s ain’t gonna change anything. Anakin got killed till we get something that can work with him and some of the other changes were waaay off too. But yeah I’m glad that they are making some changes to the game but they should put more resources to it before making changes like getting a whole new ability to already existing abilities. It feels like they are just reacted to what the community had some problems with but they haven’t solved a thing with it. And it’s saddens me because in the past AMG showed us that they can fix things with the smallest changes if proper testing and carrying went into it. So hopefully they will start supporting the game with a bigger team and resources any time soon 🤞😌 Great vid! ❤

Whether or not this is controversial, it does mean that AMG still hasn't forgotten about armada and that gives me hope for the future.

The good is that AMG listens and takes action. Promising for longevity of the game. The not so good is I think Onager is still too strong and further balancing is most welcomed.
I am new to Armada, and don't have much history. I do play a lot of other games. To me the simple solution to this particular piece of overpowered gear is to just make it unique. Either the Testbed or the Particle cannon which is the long range bit right? I mean, it's a solution that doesn't break other parts of the game, it allows the use of the thing, without the hugely problematic two copies of the thing, and it's lore friendly besides. You only have the one testbed, and only one prototype cannon.
As a new player, I can understand the NPE (negative playing experience) of getting "double-onagered" and losing a ship or two on the first turn, but I don't think increasing the points is the best way. If the test bed is the main culprit, why not make it unique like with the Imperial Venator? Would having a test bed and a SD variant still be an NPE?
Is there a armada or legion system to be able to play a solo campaign rpg style run through? I’m thinking like space satiation zero, or the last war? It would be cool to tell a unique clone wars based story possibly every time.
I have felt similarly because of the feel bad risk but now with the increase, I'll feel far less bad running onagers
As someone who's always been interested in Armada but has never been fond of the seemingly lack of news and products, is the fact that they're errata'ing the Onager a good sign for the game?
The ISD is the coolest ship, the OSD and OTB will never make my list.
I think that no matter what the changes it's good to see change in a game that's not getting new content because it at least shifts the meta and keeps it from getting overly stale definitely with Anakin and old onagers I felt like the competitive meta was getting extremely boring

I think this change was warranted. These have been bullies of the meta for so long. I think they could probably get a few more nerfs and still be playable.
Nerfs are almost always the subject of controversy in games, whether because they do too much or too little or simply don't address the root problem. I'm sure they play-tested other fixes that weren't as effective, but we'll have to see if the point increase is enough.
I thought the Onager could have been fixed just by saying "No Speed 3" and making them unique so Testbeds can't repeat
Even if the Onagers have been over-nerfed, there are TWENTY SEVEN not-Onagers in the game. Good players will adapt and still figure out how to dominate. Onagers were not the only option to win, they were a too-easy option to win.
I really like the point increase of both Onagers. The increase to 116pts and 120pts now creates an opportunity cost for Onager players. The Onagers for how much they cost were almost an auto include. Now though choosing the big unstoppable gun is an actual choice because it costs the same as the ISD which offers other variations that Onager lists can't do.

Should have been a 10 point increase for the test bed only, the star destoryer variant was already costed perfectly. Stop being so wishy washy with your opinion. The points increase was too high for the destoryer version of the Onager and VSDs are still too expensive but got ignored because they never get used... wonder why... Ignition attack is a special attack, deal with not being able to salvo them.
To be honest I’m glad they went up in price, double prototype was just too much none sense on the table, I would even say the prototype should have been like a unique ship like the Venator
