I suggest the OP over the Explorer: Stick indices and straight stick hands are more timeless than what’s going on with the Explorer. I don’t think the Explorer is ugly, but mixing big numbers and a big pointy triangle at 12 could be seen as having bad taste. Indeed, if it was the Air-King, in its current incarnation, my mind immediately goes to The Price Is Right’s big wheel game (talking about a long-running American TV game show), because of those numerics. Explorer to me looks like 70s tacky. One last thing in the OP’s favour: A Rolex with the coronet at 12 is something that only Rolex can do; The imitators and knock-off brands can look a lot like an Explorer, because most of the Explorer doesn’t say “Rolex”, but they cannot immitate the look of the OP or DJ because of that large coronet.
